We decided to send our child there for the simple reason of the life skills they offered and sports. Impressive on the surface. When you scratch the surface we found that they were not the most forth coming. There is a computer room that is rarely used, no sports, no library or cafeteria. During the interview it was addressed and I was told ""we have food brought it from the local pizza and chinese food stops"" It was a sham. When questioned on it again, I was told that they find that where there are cafeterias, there are fight. Huh? My response was that I found that if you have structure, then things run in a structured way. There is no library and what they have is a room where kids will go for reading help, but no library. They mentioned a book mobile, but don't recall my child coming home talking about it. Most definitely ask for a tour. I'm sure you will see some lights off with TV time or game time as that seems to be alot of the practice. My child came home telling me about the day and the movies watched.. Some rated R and we never were asked if it was OK. I brought that up too at the IEP and got an unacceptable answer. Track your childs life skills hours and pay. I don't believe they were even getting paid for minimum wage. Cheap labor. When there, you have to truly look around and observe and remember, they were expecting you too. There is so much more that you need to be aware of, so so much more!! If you want your child to get a good structured education, don't send him/her here. But if it's an unstructured envoironment you are seeking for your child, then Delta is the place for you and your child. Remember there is so much more. Please check all other schools/options before sending your child to this hole in the ground. Remember you are your childs advocate and do right by him/her .
