Gourmet wonderland 11/28/2006

This is my favorite specialty store in the Market--and not just because I am Italian! Their selection is almost overwhelming. The have all sorts of Italian imports--olive oils, canned items, pastas, even cookies. They also have a refrigerated case full of take-home goodies like lasagna, ravioli, gelato and stocks. The cheese counter is a sight to behold and has more selections than anywhere else I've seen. The also have salami, bacon, sausages, olives and all the makings of a perfect antipasto platter. The fresh ricotta is heavenly. The sales staff is really friendly and knowledgeable and you will probably need them. Upstairs they keep all of their wine, and the selection is decent for a shop of their size. Again, the staff is fantastic and will steer you toward the right bottle. You really can't go wrong with anything from this store. Also, their website has tons of recipes that will help you infuse some creativity into your meals. Shops like this make cooking and entertaining fun! more

My favorite deli store in Seattle! 7/25/2006

I love this store and i got my harrisa hear and it is excellent. I get a lot of my cheese and deli here. Their selection is very good and they also have some great European foods as well. On top of that they also have a great wine selection more

Delaurenti Specialty Food 5/5/2006

I love the variety in here! The atmosphere is very inviting and I have been introduced to many new foods here. The service has always been helpful and loves to share their information. Prices are kind of high, though. I think that is to be expected in this area and with the specialty of the items involved. This place has alot of hard to find and unqiue items in it. more

No need for an expensive flight 5/1/2006

Don't worry about exchanging dollars for euros, learning Italian words for cheese, or getting lost in Venice. Just stay here in Seattle and visit DeLaurenti's. Sure, you won't be able to see fancy art or get mobbed by pigeons, but I see that as a plus. They have delicious sandwiches, cheeses, and all the little yummy items that you'd find in Italy...without the long flight. There are other European items as well. It's great for lunch or a laid back first date. more

Delicious specialty foods 4/18/2006

DeLaurenti has an admirable selection of cheese, meat, bread, and other European specialty foods. They also have a coffee and snack bar in the corner across from the newsstand. The employees are friendly too. Being in the Pike Place Market, it can be astonishingly busy at times and full of tourists, so be prepared, but there are plenty of other places around to while away some time while people clear out. :) more

Euro style 4/3/2006

Ten years ago I spent a few weeks with a friend's family in Slovenia. Every day the town square was transformed into a farmer's market, and every day the residents of Ljubljana would come to pick up their fresh food for the day. The vendors seemed to know all the shoppers and what they liked. I found this to be indescribably charming and right. De Laurenti's is the closest I've ever felt to that kind of charm here in Seattle. Yes, there are farmer's markets around town and there's even the Pike's right next door, but there's something about the quality and spirit of De Laurenti's that feels special. more

Tres Incredible! (oh wait, that's French) Molti Importanti! Um well, 3/10/2006

My Italian is a little rusty. But at least I know enough of it to get around DeLaurenti's. Wow, what an incredible wine selection and customer service help on deciding to pick out a good one to go with your meal. Unsurpassed cheese selection, fresh pastas, meats, etc. Has the traditional Italiano foods and spices, a real out and out Italian grocery. Horray! more

Great selection of specialty foods 10/8/2005

This little shop by Pike's Place Market has a great selection of specialty foods. They have meats, pastas, gourmet rices, sauces, chocolates, etc. I have purchased things like hot sauce, sriracha, capers, and arborio risotto rice here. They also have a deli where you can get a tasty sandwich for lunch too! more

Like Being in Italy 9/28/2005

If you have a special Italian dinner or picnic planned, DeLaurenti is a great place for supplies and inspiration. Shelves are loaded with authentic pasta, sauces and other tidbits. No Ragu or Golden Grain here, this is the real stuff. It gets even better at the deli counter, with prosciutto and cheeses of a quality that you won't find just anywhere in Seattle. The store feels tiny and crowded, but just hold your breath and go in - it's worth the claustrophobia. more

Specialty food store 8/22/2005

DeLaurenti's has been a fixture at the Public Market in downtown Seattle for as long as I can remember. Located at 1435 1st Avenue, it is the first store to the south of the Public Market sign actually on First Avenue. Inside you'll find lots of very tall shelves crammed together and filled with imported canned, boxed or jarred foods. They have a cheese section inthe deli area that is unrivaled in Seattle. It isn't a market experience without going to DeLaurenti's. more

Pike Street Market Highlight 8/21/2005

One of the best specialty grocers in Seattle. With a focus on Italian goodies, this find on the southern side of the Market is a great source for picnic supplies, hard-to-find ingredients, or if you're desperate, a slice and a soda (though you're better off with a decent serving of their breads, meats, chesses if you're in a rush). If you drink wine, their section and library in the back will knock your socks off. If you need culinary supplies from Mother Italy, and you're downtown, this is your spot. more

Fantastic Deli & Specialty Food Store 8/20/2005

Stepping into DeLaurenti's is an experience. If you're a food lover, this is an awesome place! Especially if you enjoy cooking--this store offers specialty foods that are hard to find, and some of the best deli meats, cheeses, pates, and more, that I have ever had. They also offer imported olive oils, chocolates, and much more. One of the best aspects of this store is the staff. Unlike many customer service experiences, the staff here are actually knowledgeable. It's refreshing. They also have a section with chocolates and other candy making ingredients and supplies. This place is just wonderful! more

For italian groceries, ingredients 8/17/2005

Looking for that authentic italian sauce, or olive or whatever, this is the place to go. Its a busy little place but fun to buy from. My wife loves cooking italian and goes here to get what she needs to make a great italian dish. They have a great assortment of olivs, and pasta sauces. Of course the prices are a bit high, but i guess you get what you pay for. more

Pate Paradise 8/16/2005

This store is so good that I will risk venturing to Pike Place Market during the tourist season just to get a slice of one of the many kinds of pate offered. Their huge selection of international cheeses and eclectic array of gourmet food items keep me going back again and again. If you like good food, this is a great place to go and plan a menu. more

Great Italian groceries at Pike Place 4/22/2005

This is a great place to find high-quality imported cheeses, coffees, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, etc, etc. They also sometimes have a rack of discontinued items where you can find high-quality things at a cheap price. If you're looking for European food items that you're having a hard time finding elsewhere, this is a good place to look. more

Old-school italian grocery 5/7/2004

If you need top-quality artisan meats, cheeses, or european specialty foods (truffles, arborio rice, saffron, etc.) De Laurenti's is a terrific one-stop shop. It's changed hands in the past few years so it doesn't have the original family feeling, but the staff is still incredibly knowledgeable about the stock, and pleasant to boot. They're also located at the south end of the pike place market, so you can stock up on whatever else you need - from vegetables and flowers to cookware and coffee - all just steps away from here. more
