Darla's is a great place! 6/23/2012

I was impressed with Darla's when I took my baby maltese there for a wash and brush. He is just a puppy and his hair was tangled beyond belief! So I figured they'd wash and brush out all the knots. When the owner looked at the tangles, she said it would be better if I came to the back and stood by his side while he was being brushed. So I went back there, and as the groomer began to brush him, I saw how bad the tangles really were. The groomer told me that to brush them all out would be very painful for my puppy, and suggested that it would be better to give him a haircut. I don't want my baby to be in pain (of course) so I agreed. I thought I liked his hair long, but I actually really loved how he looked after his cute cut. It was adorable! I'm glad that the owner invited me to the back and took me through it all, I think it says a lot about the integrity of the business in general. I'll definitely be back! Pros: A big thumbs up more

Darlas Dog Wash is a terrible place. My Dog passed away due to a neglectful employee... After drying my dog, he was placed in a cage where his temperature went to 107 degrees and the dog was deprived of oxygen. Don't take your pet to Darlas! STAY OUT! more

darla's dog wash does not do a good service 12/28/2009

darla's dog wash took in our two dogs to wash and trim their fur. apparently their deffinition of 'trim' is very different than ours. we wanted a small trim, just to thin down their fur. the boy dog was fine, but the girl's fur was shaved off completely. all of her curly hair was gone. if you're planning to take your dog in, be sure to take your dictionary too. Cons: their ability to take directions from dog owner is very low more

A friendly place that does a great job 11/17/2009

I've been to many dog salons with my terrier mix Estrella. She is a rare mix, and her hair seems to grow in all directions, making it hard to give her a haircut that would actually complement her features. We came to Darla's, we just walked in, didn't even have an appointment and they were able to take her right away. In 3 hours she was returned to me as a pretty clean dog, with an adorable haircut! She looked like she could be a toy. We were very pleased with the service and the pricing didn't sting. We'll be back there again and again! more

a first-time satisfied customer 11/15/2009

i called around first to see where to take my newly adopted dog. darla's seemed to have reasonable prices, were very informative over the phone, and i was able to make an appointment for the same day. we arrived and were taken in right away, the owner was so glad that i had saved a dog from the pound and talked to me a little about the new shelter laws, etc. she seemed a very compassionate woman who loves animals. she told me how when she moved to the US from Russia, she had brought her dog with her! My dog was ready in 2 hours and came out sparkling clean and happy. They had also brushed out a load of shedding hair! The bow on the collar was a nice touch. I will definitely go back to support these good people and good business. Pros: kind people, love animals, easily accessible location more

Darla's Dog Grooming 10/24/2008

I was surprised to see so many people talking about the nails being cut so short they were bleeding. It happened to me too, so I won't take her back there. The people seemed nice, but they should know not to cut them so short. I took her to K-9 loft in Silverlake. It was more expensive, but I would rather cut out Starbucks for me and give her the best treatment. It was the happiest she ever looked coming or going from a groomer. more

They hurt my dog 8/12/2008

I took one dog of mine there a few years ago. I went back to take our new dog. When I got home and inspected him, he had a cut on the lower lid of his left eye and his eye was bloodshot. I called to ask what happened and their answer was that my dog has a genetic disease. It's now been 3 months and he has no genetic disease. His eye is all healed up and perfectly fine. I realize accidents happen but DON'T LIE about them! Cons: They hurt my dog. more

Rude and Arrogant 4/25/2008

I called to obtain pricing information over the phone. A man with an accent answered me in the most arrogant way and basically told me that if I needed anything, I would have to come in personally. Since they are not willing to help out potential customers over the phone during a period when gas is outrageously priced, then they are not deserving to have any business. Pros: close to freeway Cons: Are not willing to offer customer service. more

Your dog will love it 10/11/2007

I go there with my doggies for many years (more than 7 I think). People who work there really know what they are doing. Most important they love their ""clients"". And this is important, at least for my dogs, because they really sense people around them. I never thought about going other places. I've actually became friends with some other customers, since we've being clients there for so long. I just want to support this good business place and people working there. Pros: Good service. Shopping area. more

Never go here, EVER! 6/11/2007

Ok, so I dropped my dogs off at this awful place and could not even believe I was leaving them, but trusted that they would be ok. I picked them up and my bichon, who was full and fluffy and georgeous when I dropped her off for a ""trim"" was totally shaved to the skin with chunks of uncut hair around her collar area, which leads me to believe she never even had her collar off! After arguing with ""Darla"", I too, was offered $2 off the price of her ""groom"". I was so upset, in shock and just speechless. She then started to tell me how awful my dogs were and that she would have to charge me more money next time- NEXT TIME! Ha!! Never again and if I were you I wouldn't even think of bringing my dogs here. The fact that they were there and had to endure the pain of being there just makes me sick! I'm sticking with B Elegant in Glendale!! more

DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!!! 5/22/2007

I took my dog to Darla's to get a simple shave and to get her nails clipped. The cut her with the blade (pretty bad), and cut her nails so ridiculously short she was still bleeding and crying when I got her home. Their only remorse was giving me $2 off what they had originally planed to charge me.I am going to have to take her to the vet tomorrow because her cut looks infected from the blade that they used. She is in alot of pain. I strongly urge you to not take your pet here and put them through this! Pros: nice neighborhood Cons: service, how they treat the dog, results, everything else more

Darla's has the grooming expertise, friendly staff, and most of all, a love for animals! 3/1/2007

I love Darla's Dog Wash! It's the only place I've found that offers exceptional grooming services at a decent price. My dog comes out of there looking like a movie star every time. Darla's is not just any old grooming place, it is a place run by good-hearted people who love animals. The owner has more than once helped me find homes for dogs and cats that I had found on the street, she is a wonderful woman. Darla's breaks the mold when it comes to grooming places, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else! Pros: A definite thumbs up! Cons: Very busy, make appts ahead of time more

Darla's Dog Wash is GREAT!!! 8/24/2006

Well, phooey on the boo-hooers about this place! Let me tell you,.... my girlfriend has been bringing her dog, Auggie-the-doggie there for years. And one day I saw the Augster all freshly groomed and shaved and I thought, WOW, he looks GREAT! So, I asked where she takes him and she said Darla's and raved about how great they are! So....... I decided to put them to the test and took in my 92 lb. bundle of joy, Selena, who has a THICK orange coat with a double chin's worth of fur around her neck AND a lot of extra fluff around her tush, and to my surprise they shaved the neck/chin area, the whole body and her tushy off perfectly evenly and she looked like a fresh little PUPPY even as big as she is. THEY ARE GREAT! Very nice, but very busy, so CALL AND SET and appt. ahead of time. You won't be disappointed. SELENA was SOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY afterwards cuz now she had a fresh coat with no thick hair for the summer and nothing to shed. She truly acted like a little pup for mos. thereafter! So, I GIVE DARLA's a HUGE THUMBS UP!!!!! Pros: GREAT friendly service! Cons: Busy, busy, busy... so make an appt. ahead of time. more

Darla's is terrible 6/22/2005

I wouldn't suggest for anyone to go to Darla's. The conditions are awful. When I went to pick up my puppy he was in a travel crate that was stacked and held together with a bungee cord. When they handed him to me he was shivering from fear and cold, because he was still wet. They didn't have enough space and there were dogs howling outside the small crates. When we got home we noticed that they had cut almost all of his nails to the quick and a couple were bleeding. The last time we went there was over two months ago and they still have not grown back. Please, for the safety of your dog, go somewhere else. more
