My husband brought me to Chambers Kitchen for our anniversary and we had a fantastic dinner. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had a memorable, absolutely delicious dinner...

Simply fantastic 11/27/2006

Some friends and I dined at the Chambers Kitchen this past Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. First of all, the atmosphere is beautiful. The lighting is very flattering. All of the appetizers were great, especially the tuna. I know tuna's been overdone in recent years, but the chefs at the Chambers do it with a spin, giving it a nice crunchy coating while preserving the rareness that is essential for tuna. I tried everyone's entrees, and I must say that while all tasted great, my duck was my favorite. The combination of textures was wonderful. Desserts were lovely as well, especially the passionfruit souffle. Our server, Patrick, was able to recommend two bottles of wine to please everyone at the table. The service was polished, efficient, and friendly throughout dinner, without being obtrusive or chummy, which is a nice change from many of the restaurants in the area. I am new to Minneapolis and have finally found a restaurant to which I can proudly take friends and clients visiting from more cosmopolitan cities. My only concern is that the Chambers will lower standards in order to become more ""down-home"" and to appeal to the less sophisticated customer that abounds in the area. Pros: Service, Food, Lighting Cons: No restroom on restaurant level more

Amazing food, great service, great Art and fun place to be. I'm in love with the desserts. 11/26/2006

I had dinner with 5 of my friends and it was an amazing evening. We loved the crab cake and mushroom carpaccio. The duck was the best I ever had. My freinds raved about their food also. The desserts were to die for. We had drinks after dinner on the top floor. Great atmosphere, great service. We'll be back. Also my entree was only $22!!!!! I have paid $32 for far less attractive food. Great value. Pros: Great food, great prices, great atmosphere Cons: To far from my house more

Great Presentation 11/25/2006

Pros: Good Service, Appetizers(although not unique), Drinks, Atmosphere, Presentation. more

Stunning design. Good, not great, food. So-so service. Go for a cocktail and enjoy the art. 11/13/2006

Where else in the world can you find art like that in a restaurant? Wait for it.... nowhere. Kudos to Chambers for exposing the public to some fantastic pieces. The art is worth the trip alone. The food was good but I some how expected a bit more depth and more ""wow factor"" from a world renown chef. Maybe it was all of the pre-opening hype. I've eaten there twice and each dish seemed to be missing that one spark or highlight. The prices were however lower than I expected. Guess we'll see in six months if they raise them. The service was cold and impersonal. Technically there were a few small things that got missed, a spoon missing for a course or an old dish left from the last course, but over all fine. It just seemed like a robot could have done it with more personality. Also, it's nice for a manager type person to stop by and say hi. Go for a cocktail and enjoy the art. Pros: Spectacular Art Cons: Cold Fish Service more

The Sampling Menu is a Must 11/9/2006

The first time I dined there, our group of 7 had the sampling menu $55-65 per person for 6-7 courses. The exceptional food came with exceptional service (including crumb butler and water pourer) and a visit by the chef - truly made an impression on my clients. The tasting took about 3 hours, but the pace was really quite enjoyable and the staff knowledgeable of the food. Pros: tasting menu Cons: off the menu more

Exceptional Ambiance, Mediocre Food 11/5/2006

I went to Chamber's for a friends brithday. We called a week or so before to make reservations, and on the phone they were very snobby about reserving space for our group of 12. When we got there, they actually had a big table all ready for us...but then it took more than a half hour JUST to recieve our drinks. The place was certainly busy, but by no means packed (lots of empty tables). The server was very nice, which made up for how slow everything was coming out. Our appetizers were all delicious (bacon wrapped shrimp, tuna), but the food was VERY mediocre. I ordered lobster, and it was so rubbery and chewy, I had to use a knife to cut it up. Striped bass and halibut were just ok. Best dinner items we ordered were the pork chop and sirloin steak. I would recommend Chambers for appetizers and drinks on the 5th floor, but not for a nice dinner. Pros: ultra cool interior, mostly friendly service, great appetizers Cons: very slow service, very average food for the value more

Hip urban locale for the so-called ""Beautiful People"" 10/30/2006

I really liked this place! It looks hip from the moment you walk in - white leather, lots of art, etc. Granted, you have to get past the snarky valets first, so I recommend parking across the street at a lot for $4 instead of the $8 plus tip. Service is SLOW, but the drinks are good and the food is some of the best I've had! Attentive hosts and bussers. It's definitely a place to see and be seen, and, in fact, Kevin Garnett came in the night we were there. A great date place, a great food place, they have a terrific courtyard. Pros: Ambience, food Cons: Valet service, expensive more

Great to have a Jean-Geroge Restaurant in town! 10/29/2006

I just took my husband for dinner there. It was good. The rare tuna and snapper appetizers were creative and flavorful. I didn't see a salad on the menu, so I asked the waitress and she said they have a mixed green salad but it isn't on the menu (I thought that was kind of odd). We then split the halibut which was simple and cooked to perfection. The sauce had a little kick, which I liked. The dessert was my favorite - we had a banana cake with caramel ice cream. I also need to mention the pineapple mojito that was a great pre-dinner cocktail up in the 5th floor bar. I have eaten at Jean-Georges restaurant in NYC and thought that was better but I'm still very excited to have a place in town with a fun atmosphere and creative fish dishes. more

Newest hot spot in Mpls 10/12/2006

Be sure to get a reservation or you will not get in. Decent prices and service. They were out of a few things, but we had a 9:30 p.m. reservation. The street level patio boasts a spacious seating area, small outdoor bar, and gas firepit w/ broken pieces of glass inside. Most restaurant seating is in the lower level. more
