2nd Worst Calamari I've ever eaten 7/20/2009

Get the 35 cent wings and have two drinks then go. GF sent her crabcakes back and the calamari was only a little tougher than rubber bands, the large ones used to hold broccoli together! food was cold and the service moved slower than pond water. more

Health Hazard 9/30/2007

BEWARE. This restaurant has serious health hazards associated with sewage back-up in their basement. They pump this raw sewage through a rubber hose in their kitchen into the alley storm drain. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOUR BODY CAN WITHSTAND THE EFFECTS OF E.COLI BACTERIA. more

Big Let-Down 2/28/2007

This restaurant isn't far from my home, but it was only recently that I decided to try it. My guest and I were expecting a great experience, but we were left as cold as the weather outside.\r \r After walking in the door, we were left standing and waiting. There were only a handful of occupied tables, but our hostess was nowhere to be seen. After feeling uncomfortable and awkward, we were finally seated in a booth where we were given... paper menus? A restaurant that charges 20-30 dollars a plate can't offer menus with real binding? Nit-picking aside, the decor was far from energetic. It was dull and cheesy. There is such a thing as taking a theme too far.\r \r We started with the hummus which was spectacular. Some of the best I've ever had in the city. It's unfortunate that that was the best part of our meal. I ordered the Mahi Mahi, blackened; it was good. Not great, not stellar, just good. My fellow diner ordered a scallops dish. What a disappointment. We've seen bigger scallops sold for cheaper at mom-and-pop vendors. Even worse, the food was COLD. Considering the prices, I don't think it's too much to ask that the food be served fully cooked and still hot.\r \r It's safe to say we will not be returning anytime soon. Pros: Appetizers, Parking Cons: Ambience, Price, Service more

Reminds me of the East Coast 11/13/2006

I visited Cy's for appitizers and ended up staying for an entire night. I first sat at the Bar for the 60 cent oysters I read about. Service was good and the oysters were fresh..Being from the east coast, it's hard to find fresh seafood in the midwest. I then was seated at a table with my girlfriend. She enjoyed King Crab Legs and I had broiled tuna that was excellent. I plan on visiting again on a saturday night for the live jazz our server mentioned. more

WHAT HAPPENED? 9/2/2006

This place used to be a great bargain! My date and I ordered the surf and turf for two. We got some anemic (and chewy) crab legs and a slab of sauce with some meat substance underneath. With a couple of beers our bill came to $65, and we left hungry. I figure with the price increase and the poor quality of food, this place has obviously fallen on harder times. The bar area now draws a local sports-bar crowd which kills any romantic or family-friendly atmosphere. I can only hope for new management to resurrect the restaurant to it's former self. Pros: Seating and parking (plenty of both) Cons: Food, service, and atmosphere more

Service and Food The Best!! 10/2/2005

I went to Cy's last night and had a great meal. My waitress was nice. I though that the food was great. Our waitress gave us some great advice about what to order. She told us to order the Seabass and It was the best fish that I have ever had. She also told us about all the specials and was very prompt. The only thing that I personally did not like was the fact that the Managers kept coming to the table and asking us if we were ok. I dont need a manager coming up to me and asking me questions every two seconds. But all in all it was a great dining exsperience. Pros: food , Service, Price Cons: Management more

Cy's 6/1/2003

The lobster was overcooked and a little chewy. My date had the stuffed lobster with crab. It was a little tastier. Pricey for the quality. Not much ambience and the service was not especially good. more

Hey... Give 'em a break! 11/5/2002

'Gotta go for the crab legs... fresh, hot, and tasty. So they're a ""little"" pricier than Red Lobster, but if you want to go there for average, getting-cold crab legs with a staff who's notorious for messing up orders... then, so beith! All seafood is good... you get a big baked potato (if you choose) with never ending refills of tasty pita chips. (I don't recommend the ribs however... go to a ribs/steak joint if you're looking for meat... This is a 'crabhouse'!) The staff here has gotten better over time... still could use a little fine tuning on friendliness, but have always met my requests. Only advice- don't try this place for the first time on a busy Saturday night (or at that- any other popular restaurant in the city)...you'll pass quick judgement just like everyone else. The $10 off coupon in the Reader is a nice 'catch'! more

Wednesday Night Regular 7/25/2002

Cy's offers a great deal on snow crab legs each Wednesday night. The crab legs are typically very tasty and the dill rice can't disappoint. The service has always been great. more
