Crystal Overhead Doors, Inc.

I had initially contacted them in May, inquiring about the work they had done on our complex. We wanted to do it in two stages, so they knew we were going to be doing more doors. I had initially contacted them to get an understanding of when they could come out, what the prices would be, etc. I never heard back, so I had to call them multiple times. I finally talked to someone, who said they had the doors in stock. This was in August. I initially had been told they had to custom order them, and it would take 5-6 weeks. I had asked them to send me bids, they never emailed me once. When I asked about it they said "we didn't know you wanted the bids," which was ridiculous because I need to know how much I'm going to be paying. We finally set up an installation date, and I had taken the whole day off from work. When I called them that morning to confirm and let them know we didn't need one of the doors, the person told me that I had to take it because they custom ordered it for me. He was caught in a lie, because the person I spoke to before told me that they had them in stock and that they weren't custom made. They didn't show up until around 5 PM that day, and didn't finish the work until around 7. It just felt like one big unnecessary headache, it was just installing four garage doors. It seemed like I had to convince them to take my money and that I had to do all the work setting everything up. We live in a community where things need to be uniform and they had done the doors previously, otherwise I would have given up on them a long time ago. There was no follow up afterwards. The quality of the doors isn't bad, they actually did a good job, but the customer service was terrible. more

We have used Crystal doors for years and loved them, but today they outdid themselves. It is Thanksgiving day and my garage door in Chicago completely broke (spring gone and the door/track was so tweaked it wouldn't close more than halfway.) As an emergency visit, they promised to secure it; but ended up spending the extra time to get the door functioning normally. They were professional, friendly, and reasonably priced (none of which I expected on Thanksgiving). If you need a new door or service on an existing door, I highly recommend them. more

I had a garage door that wouldn't open and I didn't know what was wrong with it. I couldn't open it manually, so I had to keep my car parked outside. I called Crystal Overhead Door, and they showed up the next day at the prearranged time. Their guy identified the issue, which was a broken spring. He did a great job replacing it and was out in 30 minutes or less. more

I appreciated their willingness to come on fairly short notice, but I thought that they charged me a ridiculous amount of money. The garage door was stuck in the open position, they just reset it and they charged me $80. I think it took them 5 minutes to do it. more

Crystal Overhead Door have done several jobs for me, at least three. They are quick, accurate and they get the job done. I keep using them because I've had success with them in the past. more

This is another excellent review for Crystal Overhead Door. Dave and Eric just left, and I'm so enthusiastic about their service that I sat down to write this review. I had called for a routine service inspection of my garage door and lifter, which hadn't been done for over five years on this 8-year old installation. Within twenty minutes, the down-force was reset to a safer level (!), the door-travel was smoother, a bent lift-arm had been replaced, vibrations and noise were minimized--they even replaced a burned out lightbulb. By the way, take them up on their offer to sell you a $10 spray can of lithium-based lubricant for all moving parts and the track--slightly heavier and much longer-lasting than WD-40. All this for only $110--including the can of lube! Can't beat it! more

I needed a new door and I saw the online reviews for Crystal Overhead Door Inc. I had a prior vendor that had been very slow and unresponsive. The reviews for Crystal Overhead Door Inc. were actually higher than the other one's! They were pretty good. They came out, and we were able to reuse some of the product. It came out to a lower cost than what my previous vendor had quoted. It worked out well! more

Crystal Overhead Door are very prompt, when it came to time. They came in, fixed the door like it should be fixed, and went about their ways. The worker was very nice and courteous. I enjoyed them very much. more

Crystal Overhead Door has done two doors for me and they have always been very quick to come out, get an estimate, and do the work. In both cases they replaced a garage door for me and they are working great. more

This is not my first experience with Crystal Overhead Door, as I have another garage door and property they have serviced twice in the past. They are very honest and professional which keeps me coming back to them. The work was done perfectly, my door is now in line on its track and they fixed what my original contractor messed up on my garage door. more

I laud a company who truly believes in providing the best service to a customer, even if that means "free". My garage door would not fully close so I called Crystal Overhead Door and was given simple instructions as to quickly fix the problem. The 2-minute solution worked and a service charge was avoided. Customer Service is clearly a priority for this company. Thank you! more

I can't remember the names of the technicians from Crystal Overhead Door Inc. I had out, but they were great! The first guy who came out, was very nice. He gave me some information and numbers based on the age of my door. They came back out to change it out for me. They were very nice to work with and very professional. They gave me tips on maintenance and things of that nature. I would highly recommend them to anybody. more

Let me say that Dave and Tom are extremely professional and helpful. Dave assisted me with limited information that I Provided regarding an extension spring at the end of the his work day. Of course later I discovered I gave him wrong information and returned the next day. These guys were EXTREMELY HELPFUL in assisting me with getting the correct spring and ensuring that I was able to complete the job (Providing Helpful Tips for a safe completion of the job). Also they stated to call them if it was not correct and that they would run out to the house for a free estimate to assist in either getting the right spring or changing for a different system due to the door being heavy. I think Crystal Overhead Door has been very responsive. I first found them on Angie's List, where they are ranked as one of the highest businesses, with more A plus reports than anyone else. I've had them do work before in my house, so I'm familiar with them, and I've been using them ever since. When I called Eric on a Sunday, he answered the phone and was real responsive. I didn't have to got voice mail or leave a message or anything because he answered the phone. We took care of the problem over the phone too. Having someone able to reach back out to me right away or, as in this case, answer the phone, is helpful and very important to me. more

Crystal Overhead Door was wonderful. My door was off the track and they found that the cables had slipped. The door is a heavy, two-car, insulated door and the cables fell off track because the track is off kilter and therefore putting a piece of wood up to fix it will make it run more smoothly and not as apt to fall off track. After they did that, everything has been working good so far. The original installation was not a good job, which is why I've had Crystal Overhead Door come out a few times to fix the door for various reasons. They were recommended to me by my friend who was very happy with them, and I do refer other people to them as well. J. Valentine more

I share a garage with another unit and accidentally wiped out the code on both our garage opener remote controls. I called Eric at Crystal Overhead Door and he graciously walked me through reprogramming the remote controls on the phone. I wasn't even a customer but he was willing to help me. I'll use Crystal Door if I ever need help with a garage door! more

The techinician (Joseph) was very impressive. Fast, efficient and knew exactly what to do. Highly recommended! He was running a little late but the office called to inform me well before the initial time window was over. more
