There are too many decent launders in this 'hood to go to Crystal Cleaners.
It wasn't the fact that they lost my new jeans, it was how they treated me after they lost my jeans.
I just moved to the UWS and this was the closest cleaners. The first time I had a couple of problems (they closed earlier then they told me one day, my clothes seemed faded and dried on super high heat) but decided to give them another shot. The second time I bought clothes here to be washed I handed them a bag w/ three pairs of jeans in it and got a bag back with only two pairs of jeans. Unfortunately for me they were my new/expensive jeans. The next day I brought a a print out from the website to show them the jeans that were missing. What came next was a series of innuendos that I was mistaken or lying about my jeans being missing. They included:
- that laundry didn't weigh enough to have 3 pairs of jeans
- if your jeans were really missing, why didn't you come right away to tell us (when in fact I came the very next day).
- we have never lost anything, have been using the same people for 10 years
- just because you have a photo of the jeans, doesn't prove anything (a weird statement cause I just gave them a print out for reference, the man misunderstood).
My favorite part of all this was a lady w/ broken English was raising her voice at ME for losing my jeans. Instead of trying to remedy anything they accused me of lying. I was totally calm and nice and just reminded them that everyone makes mistakes sometimes including myself, so it is unreasonable for them to act like they couldn't have made a mistake.
Avoid this place -- they treat you like dirt.
