The worst Texas has to offer! 12/21/2011

Quite frankly I am shocked this place has been around so long! Desserts are their claim to fame! What a joke - you might just pick up better fare at your local grocery store - One person raves about the pies, another the cakes and you hear so much buzz about the cookies - its apparent these people are obviously friends/family and have never ventured outside the real world of desserts. The crap peddled at Cretia's is not worthy to be fed to my dog! Cretia boasts 3 locations - the one in Duncanville is a filthy pig pen swarming with old geezers that don't have anything better to do - the place needs a serious updo - its location is questionable the decor is horrific - Oakcliff is a joke - the people in that area are so full of themselves its as if they all think they are shopping on rodeo drive - LOL Oakcliff is by far the worst in decor - Cretia obviously needs to rethink what she wants to be she has no sense of style she's always blitzed! check her out next time u visit her Highland location - she may be bombed but hey get her to buy u a round -Maybe then you'll rave about her fare - Desserts at Cretia's THE WORST TEXAS HAS TO OFFER more

What a dump.... 7/11/2011

Not sure what the scoop is here. The buzz is this place is known for their cakes, pies and heavenly treats! Come on people get a grip here! The desserts are the pits! The pies are undercooked and the cakes are drenched in fat! This place is a freakin dive bar! The service sucks, the food is a joke and the desserts are completely laughable-One writer describes this place as vogue/romantic - Yeah right if you're bringing in a hooker you just picked up on Harry Hines! This place is far from romantic the decor is Salvation Army Chic - I for one am not looking up at the damn ceiling - I want to see what's on my plate and let me tell you nothing there was worth mentioning! Cretia is definitely some inexperienced bar fly trying to make a name for herself uptown - She definitely needs to pick it up or pack it up! Has anyone visited the dump in Duncanville? It's ieven worse than this place - Filthy and outdated! LOL I'm sure someones paying off the officials that are supposed to regulate this garbage being served. Check out the bathrooms in these places totally gives you some insight as to what's on your plate. Cretia's needs to get out of the food business and focus on the booze - I'm almost certain she's sampled a few too many bottles better yet she's probally sitting in one of the stools half lit! Clean up this dump - the music sucks and you definitely need some schooling! or hire someone that knows the BIZ! you obviously don't have a clue. more

What the.... 6/6/2011

Can honestly say I've seen it all! I definitely must be a glutton for punishment! After visiting Bishop Art's we ran across this place off McKinney and thought ok maybe this place is better than the dump in the neighborhood! Still laughing my ass off buddy! This place screams HELP! sure the booze is pouring the owner was definitely feeling no pain! - the place lacks in management and the food was disgusting! I was told the meatloaf was a must try and help me jesus it was not only dry I thought they pulled it out of the fridge and heated it up! All we were being pushed was booze - the place was noisy disorderly and seedy! The decor was drab, felt like it was salvation army chic! Who does this? These people have obviously got some pull somewhere - its definitely not money - must be a money laundering business because they sure as hell ain't investing any of their pennies into this dump - now I see they have another location in Duncanville - OH Boy! Should I dare? Nah.... I honestly think I've done had it! Oh if anything we need someone to critique the desserts here I for one did not have the stomach after the dogfood I was served. I honestly think someone needs to call a city inspector to come out and rate this place. there are some big time violations going on here! Could not help but laugh at Ms Cretia she was defiitely hogging up the corner with her groupies - after seeing that it definitely explains alot more

Good time had by all 8/4/2010

So after reading alot of the reviews I still decided to go to Cretia's. It was a Friday night I had dinner with friends, and ended up staying for the live music and Dj. For starters we had the cheese board which was extremly well presented plenty of cheese and fruit. Our table shared a few items the Jalapeno chicken, a pepperoni pizza, and the meatloaf all were great. our server was very attentive and fun. more

alcohol heaven 6/12/2010

This place obviously makes their money through alcohol. They sure push it. Their food was mediocre and their pie was a little raw. Both food and pie needed to stay in the oven a little longer. But everyone here is for the booze. This place is like a frat house. Their website is misleading. Matter of fact the pictures didn't even look like their food! This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Pros: tons of alcohol Cons: tons of drunks more

Ambiance, Atmosphere, Sizzling Spot 5/25/2010

This place offers a great environment to go have a few drinks, and also offers some interesting food. People don't primarily go for the food, they go for the laid back environment and the exquisite beauty of their surroundings. To read that people say that the owner doesn't care and that the waitstaff is in party mode--these sound like the type of pretentious snobs that I hope stay out of Cretia's. Pros: Ambiance more

Cretia's Lays An Egg! 4/5/2010

I'm not sure who's idea it was to do Easter Brunch at Cretia's. But that was a major mistake. The service was extremely slow. The staff seemed to be running around with their heads cut off. We were offered bottomless mimosas. Well no one told us it could take hours for a refill. The food arrived cold. When we complained to the waiter he said he would send over the manager. Again no one told us it could take hours. He offered to replace our food. this was two and a half hours into the experience. He refused to give us contact information for the owner. And on top of it all still charged us full price for our cold food. Our Easter Sunday was filled with bad service, poor food and bad service! Did I mention bad service twice. Meant to. Pros: Can't think of any! Cons: Cretia's is now synonymous with yuck! more

What a joke... 2/15/2010

Ran across this review section this morning and let me tell you folks - Pros: ount this as one of Lifes many lessons - YIKES I was warned! Cons: Supported a local business that did not deserve my $$$ more

Bad Food Worse Ownership. 12/16/2009

I had a dinner date on a Saturday night. It seemed like everyone there would rather be somewhere else. The food was bland and tasteless and our waiter only came once. After dinner we decided to stay and have a drink....Big mistake one Drink later in come the Police they took the Cash Registers. This is somewhere I don't every want to go again. Buyer Beware !!!! more

No Thanks 12/15/2009

Giving this establishment 1 star is WAY too kind but unfortunately it is the lowest rating possible. From the terrible service, manager who did NOT care, depressing ambiance, and cold food which kept me up all night with an upset stomach, it made for a terrible experience. In addition, this place is expensive so we wasted about $50. I wish I could be more kind but saying anything good about this place would mean lying. Extremely disappointing Cons: lots more

What's up with this place? 12/12/2009

I live in the neighborhood so when Cretia's moved to its new location I checked it out a couple times with friends. It was alright but I hadn't been back because the new spot seemed more like a club than restaurant or bar. Never the less, it was alright. Went somewhat recently and it was raided by cops so my friends and I took off fast. After talking about it with people I hear this place is up to all sorts of stuff. My buddy said he was there about a month ago and it was raided again. I don't understand how you can run a business and expect your patrons to put up with this type of stuff. It's not as if people don't talk and this place is definitely up for discussion. From what I have read on this page I think I understand the problem is, bad owner bad operation. I think my days at Cretia's are over, quite certain actually. Apparently, that seams to be the consensus among many. more

Favorite bar! 10/6/2009

What I LOVE about this bar is that you can go with a big group and there is something for everyone! If you want to dance there is always the darker room with the dance floor and DJ. If you want the normal bar scene there is a large front room and also a great balcony. Many nights they have live music as well as the DJ. I would always suggest this place to people who have crowds who may want a mixed scene all in one place! more

Disappointing food & service 9/28/2009

The menu was interesting, though I might say it was kind of all over the board. The service seemed indifferent and robotic. Once the food arrived it summed up the whole experience. The cajun meatloaf was dry and cold and the samon was not prepared properly. We ended up leaving all the food on the plates. When we told the waiter that we were disatisfied with the food, his attitude was ""whatever!"" Exactly my feelings about this restaurant. I truly like to support locally owned places, but this one needs to look at what their offering. Pros: Simply can not name any. Cons: Makes you appreciate other restaurants in the area. more
