I have read the posting below and I feel I must defend this amazing store as they have ALL always been very nice to me and always take the time to talk to me whether I am just browsing or if I am buying I have spent a lot of money in this store and never once have I ever been treated unfairly the animals are well taken care of and even spoiled a little. The tanks are always clean and the fish tanks have some beautiful choices although I tend to buy more bird and dog supplies then anything lol. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and don't waist your time reading the BS posted below about Kim Being a rude know it all as she was the best help t me every time I am in the store for my hairy and feathered friends. I was visiting friends and stopped in Creature Castle, I am surprised by the last two reviews. While I was there, I got to play with the puppies, who seemed very socialized and very playful. The girl answered all my questions and was very friendly and seemed to care about the pups. When I went to the fish department I enjoyed checking out both the freshwater and saltwater varieties they had and Jean answered all my questions. There was a tank that had fish in it that she said were sick and should be better next week and it would be better if I waited for them. I told her I was from out of town and was just looking and she still took the time to answer my questions! They had some reptiles but I don't know anything about those and don't care to. The only problem I had was with the woman that was talking to me when I was looking at the Cockatiels. She had an attitude like she knew everything and everyone else was an idiot, she even yelled at one of the other employees right in front of me and a couple of other customers! When she figured out I wasn't buying anything, it seemed like I was just a bother and didn't finish answering my questions, she went out the front door to smoke a cigarette. Other than her, my experience was great and I did get some stuff for my fish tank at home after all!! Thank You Jean!! more

I am shocked to see the latest review. It sounds like an awfully long list for a common customer to come in and rate the entire store and staff. I bought a conure from Creature Castle in 2011 and part of the reason we bought this bird was the great customer service we received from Kim. Every time I have been in the store the staff have been friendly and have always catered to my needs. I am impressed that you can actually handle the animals and find out all kind of information that is helpful in making a purchase . I truly enjoy the old style pet shop. There are not many like this anymore and it is a refreshing touch from the chain pet supply stores. more

This has to be one of the greatest disappointments in a pet store experience I've ever had the displeasure to witness. If you are looking for quality customer service, healthy pets, and knowledgeable staff LOOK ELSEWHERE! The first thing that hits you when you walk into this store is the smell, filthy enclosures and poor hygiene meet your nose as you walk in. The aquatics section isn't very large, with very limited selection, begging the question ""Why are these tanks so dirty, and why are there so many dead fish?"". Getting any useful help here is almost impossible as employees seem per-occupied, and uncaring, in this instance bad-mouthing another employee or management. Employees are ego-centric coming off with an ""I know everything attitude"" towards customers, and seemingly scoffing at their questions. Swearing can be heard from employees around the store, regardless if kids are present or not,extremely unprofessional and immature. I asked if they kept their diurnal reptiles under UV lighting and was told ""The store owner wont pay for it"" basically. I noticed hamsters were scarred from fighting, Ich on most of the fish selection, I overheard someone say a Cockatiel was missing a toe. Everything in this store is overpriced, at least 50% over what I can get the products I was looking for from other reputable dealers. Puppies looked to be obtained from a puppy-mill, and the enclosures of most of the animals I saw were laden with waste. If you make the mistake of purchasing here, be aware that refunds are not given, and you may only receive store credit. Don't take your debt/credit card if you're planning on spending less than $10, or you will be told grumpily by the cashier ""I have a $10 minimum on cards"". All these people care about is making a sale, welfare of animals, customer service, and professionalism all take a back seat. Please if you read this, don't support this store. This is one of the worst possible ways that a pet shop can be run, the manner of which they do business is deplorable, and the way they treat their animals could be considered by some to be animal cruelty. more

I love Creature Castle. I am a bird lover and love their Avian Specialist Kim, she is the greatest. She not only knows all about the birds but she loves them as much or more than the customers do !! I just brought home my baby Lovebird that she handfed herself and he is the sweetest healthiest bird I have ever had. The rest of the employees are helpful as well. I highly recommend all bird lovers go to Creature Castle and talk to Kim and ask her about the birds the store has available. The store will amaze you. more

I stopped going in there for several reasons. Their fish are always sick. I had to wait weeks to buy a couple of koi because nobody was treating the tank like they should have been doing. Also the puppies are kept isolated from people and each other which is a horrible thing to do at that young age. They are kept on wire floors too, where legs can get caught and it's not comfortable to walk on. Puppies are not locally bred, they are from puppy mills. The stores have been around a very long time and they are only making it because of that. I used to own a pet store and I've heard the employees giving out bad advice to people more than once. Nobody cares there. I hope enough people figure this out that they go out of business. more

I go to creature castle all the time. They have great employees that are very helpful and will share they knowledge on your animal. They will show you what you need and dont need. Tim is great for help with your fish and tank needs and Kim is very knowledgable and will help you with all your bird needs. This place takes the time to help you and their animals always look great and are sooooo friendly. more

let me start by saying my husband has been going to creature castle a year or so...we have 2 snakes...anyway about 2 and a half months ago my son wanted 2 hamsters or gerbals. so we were in so we decided to get 2 gerbals. I made it VERY CLEAR I wanted to males or 2 females because I didnt want them breeding..so the lady that works there picked up 2 of them and looked between their legs and said yes these are both males..i said great paid and went home... about a month later my son yelled Mom come look at this...to my surprize there were 5 little pink things in the cage...I called them then and was very upset..i said i didnt want them breeding and now i have babies...they lady on the phone said please keep them when they are 5 weeks old bring them in and we will give you 1 dollar each for them. well we were in brandon yesterday so i thought lets take them in...the didnt open til noon and it was 11:32, so my husband knocked on the door...i was sitting in the truck and it was taking along time so i got out to see what was going on, my husband said honey they cant take them. I looked at the lady and said you will take them...it was ur mistake. i asked for the same sex, so there would be no babies, so you WILL take them..and then she snached the bucket from my husband so she could get them, then asked if we wanted our bucket back. oh and something about getting store bucks with every purchase you buy...we never got anything like this... bottom line...go somewhere else...the people that work here are so rude and dont care about your needs or the needs of your pet more

Poor Business Practices...avoid 4/4/2012

If I could give negative stars I would. After shopping there for over a year for EXPENSIVE dog food and parrot food, dog toys, parrot toys...I earned a free bag of food (its $17for 6 lbs). Other stores gave me the free bag with the coupon and said ""Thanks, we appreciate your business"". more

Bad customer service 11/9/2011

Wow, these people that work there are so rude and the fish I bought died within 1 day! When I went back and got more after testing my water which they said was fine they all died again within 2 days. They won't replace any and still they say my water is fine for fish and should just keep buying more. I went to Petsmart and bought some there and they are still alive after 2 weeks. I've noticed that some of the ""positive"" reviews have been duplicated on here to increase the review rating. Just be aware of this place, lots of bad reviews, not good. more

Puppiy Mill puppies - It's all about commission 11/9/2011

I have found out that the sales people lie to customers about problems with any other breed of dog that they don't sell in their store so that you will buy one of their puppy mill dogs. A couple of my friends who bought animals in the past there were very sorry they did, as they got sick and 1 died and there was no replacement or refund! more

Good and bad? 2/2/2011

So far I have bought ten neon tetras, two angel fish, two blue gourami, a pleco, and around thirty ghost shrimp. Well, on the ride home one of my neon tetras died.. I took it back after bringing the others home, thinking it was just a mistake and that one was the only one to have it happen. It was about two hours later that I made it in there, and I had forgotten my receipt, luckily, they remembered me and replaced the little guy promptly. All seemed well, until we got home, Creature Castle has since closed by the time we made it home.. and while I was sitting looking at how well my tank looked, I noticed that the neon tetra's had ""Ich"". So, I checked the other fish, and sure enough.. one angel fish had the little white spots on his fin. I didn't think anything of this, I'd just buy the treatment. Well, clearly I didn't check out the neon's well enough, because today they looked like they were Dalmatians. They were covered. I bought the treatment, which I put in the tank at the recommended dose for scaleless fish.. And, after leaving to pick something up and coming home, two of the little neon tetra's are at the top of the tank struggling for life.. They soon died after. I was highly upset.. Then, I looked around, and couldn't seem to find my angel fish. I kept counting and moving everything in the tank until finally I found his dead little body tucked between some plants and rocks.. So, I don't know what to say about this store. The pleco I purchased about two weeks ago is doing great. But, the other fish, I'm on edge about. I DON'T trust having the tetra's around my other fish. I've had them for a while and don't want to have my mistake make them flushed. Going to return the fish tomorrow, with the water sample. And, to be honest, if they tell me something is wrong with the water in my tank, I'll probably inform them there was nothing wrong with it until they gave me infected fish. I didn't even trust the brown water that the poor fish came home in. I tried to put them in their floating bag of brown water as soon as possible.. I just wish I had been a better owner and realized what I was doing to my veteran fish ): ((So far, all my fish are still alive, and seem to be doing fine.. Am taking them away from the fish I bought at Creature Castle though, I don't want my fish to be infected from them.)) So, if you do decide to go to Brandon's Creature Castle to purchase your fish, be careful. I should have been a little more wary considering all the fish that were dead & dying in other tanks.. more

Not An Up Standing Buisness 6/8/2010

My family purchased two red eyed tree frogs and the Entire set up for me as a Mother's Day gift. One week later the frogs started to get bluish grey patches on thier backs. I consulted with one of the sales people at the store and was told that he had never heard of such a thing. Another week passed and both frogs were dead. I went and purchased a third frog. One week later, same bluish grey patches appear. The same person told me to bring the frog in, which I did. The OWNER looked at the frog and said that it looked like a sunburn to her. She has been in this buisness of 20 years according to her. She said to turn off the light. Which I did. The frog is getting better. The dark skin is now white and looks to be healing fine. I take the frog back in to the OWNER and she tells me that she thinks that it a bacterial infection and that she will not replace the two that died. BUT - I can bring in the light and the fixture for credit. This owner is not upstanding and she back peddled very quickly when I brought the still living frog that is making medical improvment every day. I asked her what she would do if I took the frog to a vet and he said that it was in fact a burn from the light that I was sold, Well I have been selling these frogs for 20 years with this light and have never had a problem. Which told me that Pros: Nice people Cons: Not responsible more

BEST PET STORE EVER! 1/4/2010

This place is the best. You would never regret what you buy there because there is nothing to regret. The people there are informative and always by your side helping you with what you need and what you should have. I just bought a hermit crab and its habitat about 2 weeks ago and is still going strong, usually when i buy a hermit crab from anywhere else it dies in about 3 days. I also love the warm inviting feeling when i walk through the door. Stop by creature castle because you wont regret it! more

Best Service Around!!!! 10/22/2009

I adopted a kitten! They helped me pick out just what I needed for her, told me when I could bring her back for her next vaccinations at a great price, and answered all the crazy questions I had. It was only 35.00 (great price!!!!) and she had her first shots and was de-wormed. Most importantly, she was clean, well fed and very happy. I also buy rats, mice and crickets for our other pets there bi-weekly and I have never recieved bad service. Shop creature castle...you won't regret it! Pros: They are so friendly, helpful and you always leave w/a smile more
