Council Thrift is lodged securely in the heart of downtown Portland. While most thrift stores have lots of furniture and such things, this thrift store carries items reflective of people who live downtown with small households. Gourmet cookware for one or 2 abounds. Fine silverware with one or two place settings, small pieces of furniture. Dresser scarves that double as tableclothes AND shower curtains.
In addition to being a great place to shop for loft dwellers, this is also a great place to look around for parents whose children are heading to dormatories in the fall.
I have also found some high-quality costume jewelry here. You won't get it for 99 cents, but you will get it for a fraction of what you'll pay at Sax.
Here you can feel like you spent a million bucks when you only spent a million pennies.
