best Spanish food in the city 7/31/2007

I love Costa Del Sol. I have yet to find a better place for seafood (especially for the prices they offer.) The sangria is well made - not just wine with fruit in it! The service is impeccable, and the decor makes you feel like you are in the best restaurant in a small country town. Hells Kitchen is luck to have this gem, to which I have been a loyal customer since 2000. It's great for a solid meal with family and friends, or for a calm, romantic dinner that does not require a reservation. The camarones al ajillo and the paella are AWESOME. The calamari is damn good, too. My mouth is watering as I write this. Pros: The seafood is great! Cons: too far from my house :) more

Costa Delicious Sol 11/13/2006

Never one to disappoint, Costa Del Sol is a Hell's Kitchen favorite with its great portions, awesome variety, solid prices, and decent ambiance. Sometimes the service is on and off, with them acting very welcoming to sometimes downright inattentive. The veal, paella, jamon, various tapas, and especially the ""Parrillada De Mariscos"" were delicious. For Spanish fare, it doesn't get much better than this. Pros: Food, Variety, Atmosphere, Prices Cons: Service (at times) more

good in the neighborhood. 11/5/2006

We walked right in after seeing the name of the restaurant (I love Spain and am always looking for good traditional spanish food) Pros: big portions, tasty arroz con pollo more

GREAT SPANISH FOOD RECOMMENDED 9/3/2006

WE WENT AFTER PAST REVIEWS. THE FOOD WAS GREAT. I HAD THE PAELLA AND MY WIFE HAD THE OCTOPUS SAUTED. THE FOOD WAS AS GOOD AND THE SANGRIA WAS GREAT. I PREFERRED THE WHITE OVER RED. I WILL GO TO COSTA DEL SOL AGAIN NEXT TIME I AM IN NY. Pros: GREAT EVENING more

Sangria was on point. The food was plentiful, tasty, and inexpensive. A great after-show family spot. more

Service like in Spain? 3/4/2006

Ah Spain, the service was authentic. We were forgotten, fawned over, forgotten again, then treated to free drinks. The food was excellent The service was friendly, but not exactly organized. (I'll get your waiter... oh wait, I AM your waiter). Lots of regulars here. --Eat Club is a roaming group of NYC gluttons. Pros: friendly, great food Cons: authentic service more

Good Paella at Great Prices 1/1/2003

My second visit to Costa Del Sol. I ordered the Paella with Lobster. It was as delicious as the first time ordered. An ideal location for pre-theatre meals. The menu is offers a great deal of selection; unfortunately, they were out of the Soft Shell Crabs on this visit. On a previous visit, my friend had the Lobster tail stuffed with crab meat--I'll try that on a a future visit. Pros: Great Food, Great Value, Ideal for Pre-Theatre more

I don't eat seafood! 12/29/2002

But Costa del sol, which has a great deal of seafood, also has some great meat and vegetarian dishes. I had the prix fixe and loved it. The waiters were alot of fun since we were eating rather late. I had a fabulous time, better than I've had anywhere in a long time. I'm going back soon! Pros: prix fixe more

Great Deal 12/1/2002

The prix fix are a wonderful deal... The sangria is so good... and if only going for drinks the bar is wonderful Pros: Inexpensive, Sangria wonderful more

Amazing Spanish Seafood! 10/18/2002

Great restaurant - The food was surprisingly good, big portions in spite of the plain ambience and impersonal service (but at least it is fast). It is a nice change because you aren't cramped into a little corner instead it is a more spacious family style restaurant - like what you would find in the suberbs. The seafood is incredible - huge portions, really good sauces and great desserts. Try the seafood including shrimp, mussels, clams and scallops in an olive oil, garlic and parsley sauce for only about $15.00. They also have lobster for only $20.00. A great dessert is the vanilla custard. Pros: inexpensive, huge portions, lots of space Cons: plain ambience, impersonal service more
