Waaay overpriced for cafeteria food 2/26/2011

Love corned beef. My wife and I travel a lot and eat out a lot. C&L's have a good corned beef sandwich if they asked $5 instead of $12. We don't mind spending $12 for a sandwich, but this isn't it. Not only is it small, but you don't even get a pickle with it! My wife's cheeseburger was about a $3 sandwich, but they asked $12 for it also! And we don't mind cafeteria seating and atmosphere, but the premium charges didn't reflect the experience. I asked the waiter which of the corned beef sandwiches he would recommend and he informed us he wouldn't eat red meat and we should consider the turkey. ""Dining with Steve"" recommend this place and I now question their judgment. Table wasn't clean and service was almost non existent. Wouldn't recommend. more

Another horrible dining experience at Corky and Lenny's 4/4/2010

Well since the salmonella incident I have steered clear of this place, but the kids were hungry and we were in the neighborhood, so I thought I would give it it another try. What a mistake ! It took 45 minutes to get 3 sandwiches. In that 45 minutes I watched the busboy put the dirty dish bin on a table, clear the table and not wipe the table down. A dirty napkin fell on to a set of clean fork/spoon/knife and he left it there for the next patron to eat with. Our waitress was overwhelmed and was rolling her eyes and muttering under her breath every time she passed our table. I usually leave a 22 percent tip but I left a 5 % tip because the the service was bad. The cashier actually had the nerve to point out that the tip was low and I told her that the sevice was terrible and I would never go there again. Did she apologize ?? Nope, she said ""have a nice day"". Cons: dirty, extremely slow service, overpriced. more

No Complaints From Me, i guess if your cheap, or, want it quiet, Stay Home. 11/19/2008

It's great! Soups, Salads, Steaks, Seafood,, Jewish delicasies, can't beat 1.00 yep, just one dollar knishes! Comfortable atmosphere, kid friendly, Always great service to me. Cashier checkout is quick. Clean Restroom, Food portions are extra large, Pickels taste better since they are at room temp. Trust my judgement, I'm a Nurse! I'm never disappointed, just Full! more

An Institution! Great Corned Beef Sandwiches! Matzo Ball Soup to make you Cry! 8/20/2008

I go to Cleveland to visit relatives...and whenever I go there is only one request I have -- go to Corky & Lenny's -- it is usually the first and last stop I make after getting off the airplane - Also when visiting it is usually the ""meeting place"" for the family. 3 things I recommend: Corned Beef on Potato Latkes (Sandwich Style), 3 Little Tootsies - 3 Mini Challah Rolls filled 1 with Chopped Liver, 1 with Corned Beef, 1 with Pastrami - (satisfies your need for all jewish deli specialites!) and Mish Mosh Soup - chicken soup with a Matzo Ball, Noodles and spaetzle. Either way just their Matzo Ball soup is great. My Aunt always orders Lox, Onions & Eggs. They do have fantastic pickles but no longer leave them out on the table - all you need to do though is request them or depending on the server they'll just drop them off. I had the most friendly and courteous server Friday afternoon for lunch that I have had in a long time at any restaurant. Sunday for brunch we had a very nice yet more of the ""typical"" deli waitress who was quite a character....Also I always order a Chocolate Phosphate (a carbonated chocolate drink, almost like chocolate soda) in honor of my dad who went there over 50 years ago...This is really an iconic Jewish Deli in my opinion. Unless you live in New York this is the best deli around. (I've searched many cities and haven't found one comporable besides NYC.) It is a true institution. I will say during peak times it does tend to get a little noisy so if you want a bit less chaos go during off peak hours.....Oh and I was thrilled to find out they ship :-) !!!!! Pros: Authentic Jewish Deli Food also offerings on the lighter side. Cons: Oy Vay! - last time I was there they needed a little more salt and onions in the chopped liver..... Can be busy and loud more

Meh 6/9/2008

Its an okay place to go with the family, but the food isnt that good and neither is the atmosphere. The selection is awkward and doesen't have anything to cater to the "normal" food kind of people. I must also agree with the other reviewers that it is very loud. One plus though, is the desserts, they are very nice and very good. more

What's the hype? 6/27/2006

I am not sure why everyone rants and raves about this place. Like the other reviewer said, it is so loud there. The servers are rude and the food isn't even good. I don't feel the wait is worth it. more

Corky and Lennys 10/12/2005

Corky and Lennys is a great place to go for great deli style food, the sandwiches are stacked high and very filling, they have a wide variety of selections on the menu, including some of the best tasting homemade soups! They also have a great deli counter to order from! PROS: Great food, great service CONS: none more

Disgusting Deli 9/2/2005

Corkey & Lenny's is a horrible deli. The atmosphere was crowded and noisy - I felt like I was dining with all the other patrons. The food was tremendously greasy and fatty and naturally didn't settle well in my stomach. And worse of all, they charged an arm and a leg for these dripping-with-grease corned beef sandwiches and dill pickles. Horrible diner. PROS: None. CONS: Atmosphere, food, pricing more

Damn Good! 2/9/2005

Had a combo sandwich with Roast Beef and Turkey. HUGE!!!! Could have fed a family of of 3. It is good anyway you look at it. All homemade and lots to pick from. GO! GO! more

very disappointed 9/9/2004

We were seated immediately, but it took our server at least 10 minutes to notice us. The pickles on the table were warm, like they had been sitting out all day or maybe all week (a good deli would bring you nice cold pickles!). The food took a long time, and when it did arrive the meat on my sandwich was cold. I didn't have a chance to ask the server about it since she didn't come back for at least 15 more minutes. In addition, the food is extremely overpriced, costing about twice as much as what you'd expect. The only good thing I can say is that my friend enjoyed his reuben. But I didn't enjoy how much he had to pay for it. Pros: good reubens Cons: , food is awful, extremely overpriced more

Disappointing! 6/7/2004

We go there often for carry-out. Every single time we order the large Matzoball soup w/noodles (for example), it comes without noodless or without the 2nd matzoball. They're not friendly, especially when you point out their errors. God knows they charge you a lot, but you don't get you monies worth. I will have a better chance at getting what I order from Jack's Deli! more

Corky & Lenny's 12/26/2003

Corky & Lenny's Deli has been a landmark in the suburban Cleveland area since I was a child in the 50's. Even after it moved from the Cedar-Center area to Chagrin Blvd it has kept its ambiance (including the ""antique"" waitstaff they employ) and the quality of the food has not faultered. I moved from Cleveland in the 70's but whenever I come back to visit my parents, still living in Beachwood, we have to have lunch at ""Corky's""! Pros: good parking, great food, good location more

mmmm... Corky's 5/3/2003

When I'm living out of town, Corky's is what I miss most about Cleveland. If I get convicted of a capital crime, I want my last meal to be a Corky's lean corned beef sandwich on rye toast, or maybe potato pancakes. I recommend going on Friday, when potato soup is available. Corky's has about a million items on their menu, and they're just about all delicious. Try a meat knish (thin crust filled with liver). If you're not into old-time Eastern European Jewish cuisine, Corky's hamburgers are supposed to be great. Pros: selection, food quality, atmosphere Cons: prices, crowding more

Yummmmmy! 10/15/2002

I know most people go to Corky & Lenny's for sandwiches, etc.... but I personally love their all-day breakfast. They have the BEST potato latkes I have ever tasted! And, of course, I love their bowl of pickles. Yummmmmy! Pros: fair price, good food Cons: crowded, no parking more

MMMMMMMMMM Good!!! 8/19/2002

The menu is endless and the sandwiches are to the sky. Great! Pros: Reasonable, Quality, Qanitity Cons: Crowded, More room more
