Best

I have been going to Cooper Alley for years. Erin does my color, and she is fantastic, always listens! Rick cuts my hair, love it!!! I highly recommend Cooper Alley!

Worst

I tried Cooper Alley for about 9 months. I went to three different colorists and never got the same color twice and never even got close to what I was asking for. The product they...

love this place 9/18/2010

I have curly hair and Christina new how to handle it. I am so thank full, she gave me products that really work , wish i found her sooner, would have saved me a lot of bad hair days. more

Best cut I've ever had! 10/29/2009

I have been going to Christina at Cooper Alley for over a year now. I have never had a better, more consistent cut from anyone before. I have put my hair in her hands every time with little to no direction and she comes up with a great look. I get complimented on my hair many times each day and get asked for Christina's card at least once each week because of my great cut. It's a bit pricey- but so worth the great feeling you get when people tell you that you look great! Pros: Great cut, on time, friendly staff Cons: A little pricey more

Disappointed Big time 4/25/2009

I decided to try this place out because my hair dresser moved to LA. The place looked decent, they carry great products, had great reviews so I never thought my hair would turn out the way it did! I showed the gal a picture of the color I was thinking which was about 2 shades lighter than mine and the hair ""expert"" assured me on how lovely it would look on me. Next thing I knew, my hair was about 3 shades DARKER than what I wanted and she threw in some horrible bleach pieces. It was so obvious she knew she made a mistake at the sink where I was having it washed out . SHe repeatedly added toner to my hair. I was on the verge of tears! We then came back to the chair and she could tell I was unhappy. Instead of admitting she made a mistake and will fix it, she gave me major attitude! I couldn't even believe it. Great customer service. I will never go back there again and I do not recommend it to anyone who cares to look good. Pros: Nice looking salon, good products Cons: highlights more

Good haircut, attentive staff 8/17/2007

I do not like the I-do-hair-she-does-color thing. It just seems like an excuse to charge you more and frankly you spend extra time there transitioning from cutter to colorist. It's a bit much for Marin, or at least thems there parts where I live! But still, a very good haircut. more

best service, ask for a latte or capaccino while you sit 2/9/2007

I had a great experience starting with the phone call to make the apt to the check out. I found everyone to be very professional and happy. I love love love my hair color done by George and hair cut by Oxana. I would recommend this salon to anyone who loves to be pampered. They gave me a great shampoo and a latte while my hair processed. more

love my haircut 2/2/2007

Had my hair cut with Christina today and felt she took very good care of me. Bruno didn't rush through my shampoo and gave ample time for a neck massage. My hair turned out fabulous and I was in and out in and out in just over an hour! Thanks guys! Betty Pros: parking more

A+ 1/16/2007

I had my first appointment at Cooper Alley Salon today and was pleasantly surprised with my experience. I had approached someone at Nordstrom about their hair and was told that she saw Christina and Jennifer. Her hair looked fabulous and I thought to myself, that is what I want. Well it does now! I felt that my consultations went great and the whole experience was a plus. more

Best salon EVER 1/10/2007

I have been going to Cooper Alley Salon now for 3 years and have been so impressed with there services, including their hair massages! Every time I walk in to the salon someone has immediately said hello with such a nice face. The attitude inside is so refreshing and unpretentious, I immediately feel like I am on vacation. They also have great lattes and cappuccinos. I have seen many different stylists for haircuts and have loved all of them. My color has also never been better! I would highly recommend this salon to anybody. \r Pros: Parking, Ambience, Service, Coffee, and Friendships more

Poor coloring techniques, decent hair cuts, and good customer service. 12/19/2006

I would definitely not go to this salon for color. They do not do a good job at all and end up charging you too much for their services. On the other hand, their hair cuts are not bad and probably worth your money. In addition, their products are nice if you don't mind paying the price for them as they are high end. more

TERRIBLE color 10/31/2006

Avoid this place. It's far too expensive for the results you get. I've been looking for a good salon since my favorite stylist left the area, and this place was really one of the worst for product-pressure (to buy ... and really over-priced), tag-on expenses (surprise charge at check-out for deep conditioning), staff attitude (rushed and sloppy work), and color quality. It's the latter that really bothers me. My hair color is such a disappointment. I was on the verge of tears. What a nightmare. Pros: easy access off the freeway Cons: far too expensive for the results more

Very Friendly Stylists 8/1/2006

Let me start by saying that I only have experience with the cuts here. I generally go to the same stylist, who is fantastic! Her cuts are excellent and I am consistently complimented on them. In addition, this stylist is extremely personable and getting a cut from her is always a pleasure. In addition, shehas never tried to sell me any products. She once asked me what product I used, and when I told her she said it was a good choice for my hair type, and left it at that. (Granted they sell that product, but she's never mentioned it again, so I don't know how much of a motivation that was.) Also, when I was considering coloring my hair she discouraged my doing so, even though it would have made more money for her/the salon.\r \r I once went to a different stylist at Cooper Alley, and although the cut was excellent, I did not enjoy the experience as much. (She did make one extremely minimal attempt to sell me a product.)\r \r Also, I have neve had my hair colored there. However, the general perception seems to be that their color doesn't last long and is not entirely consistent. (Even the person who refered me to cuts said this.) As a result, it might not be the place to go if you are looking for color. Pros: Skilled Stylists, Lots of Time Allotted For Cuts (not rushed) more

You get what you pay for. . . 3/15/2006

You get what you pay for at Cooper Alley! Yes, they are expensive however, the service is exceptional and the staff friendly yet professional. I was promtly offered a cappucino which was better than Starbucks and from that point on my experience got better and better to the point when I sailed out the door with the best haircut and color ever! Pros: trendy, good parking, clean more

Wonderful First Time Experience 1/1/2006

I had a lovely experience at Cooper Alley. I was referred by several of my clients who raved about the quality of the staff and their expertise. There was no sales pressure at all..the assistant who shampooed my hair, Reiko? gave me the best head massage and the stylist, Sloan did a wonderful job cutting and styling my hair. The price was not out of line, either, but exactly what one would expect to spend a in a skilled, clean establishment for service from skilled, talented people. I would highly recommend this place. Pros: nice environment, skilled professionals, helpful staff Cons: a little noisy more

User review by ninanik 12/25/2005

I would not recommend this salon. The quality of the cuts and color is way out of line with the prices. It is very clear that the salon's mission is to send each client home with as many products as possible and to ensure a large bill. The owner is very self assured but he did a poor job with out hair cuts. The highlights did not even come close to what I asked for so I went to another, very reasonably priced stylist, and got both a cut and highlights everyone complimented. The atmsophere is pretensious and artificial. Cons: unsatisfactory cuts, unsatisfactoyr color, hard sell more

See for yourself!! 12/18/2005

I have been a client for some time and disagree with what others have said. What people need to realize is that there is nothing wrong with paying top dollar for professionalism and skill. I have yet to leave there without a smile one my face. Everyone always has a smile on their faces. Some stylists may be a bit young, so I'm not sure about their talents, but I have always been treated fairly and promptly. I get my color done as well and have no complaints. The owners seem to be very hands on and Pros: Atmosphere, Friendly, Skills Cons: Appointments more

An extraordinary experience!! 12/15/2005

I found the talented staff dedicated to making my experience one that I would share with my friends. Not only did the stylist listen to me, she was eager to suggest new ideas and educate me on working with my awsome new cut. The salon was busy and everyone l encountered had a great attitude. A great find!! I love this place!! Beautiful atmosphere, too! more

Overpriced, terrible colorists 10/27/2005

I tried Cooper Alley for about 9 months. I went to three different colorists and never got the same color twice and never even got close to what I was asking for. The product they use, Wella, produces a very flat red color and fades tremendously. I travelled quite a distance to go back to my regular colorist (who had moved out of the area) to get color correction. I do not recommend this salon other than aesthetically (it is very beautiful inside). I also found that the stylists were quite bitchy. I had one stylist actually complain to me about another customer who was in the shop at the time! Very unprofessional. Also, they are soooo super expensive. Not at all worth the money. Pros: beautiful salon Cons: bad color, expensive, unprofessional staff more

Over-rated 1/30/2005

I frequented Cooper Alley for awhile after the split with DiPietro Todd that brought it into being. After my stylist moved on I briefly saw one of the newer stylists at the time - and 2 different colorists. This place is not inexpensive and its services don't rate the price tag. My haircuts were truly unexceptional - actually, the last one I got there was bad. The color work is overpriced for what you get. more
