I went here for a date and it was a lot of fun. I like how they're always showing old movies that bring back memories, and independent films. It is always refreshing since I was getting bored after having watched everything out in the other theaters. more

  • In Short
Brookline's premier independent movie house mostly deals in foreign and artsy fare. Host to numerous festivals and guest speakers like David Sedaris and John Waters, the Coolidge is a favorite of local literary types. Erected in 1933, the Coolidge's old-school, vaudevillian style movie house is complete with curtains that open and close over the giant screen. Also the area's only nonprofit theater, the Coolidge survives thanks to its loyal regulars and generous donors.
