Completely bare = completely horrible customer care. 5/22/2011

I have been using Completelybare for almost 2 years and over the last 3-4 months, the quality of customer service has become AWFUL. The staff is polite and helpful although a bit pushy about selling packages IF you can ever reach them and get an appointment. For the past few weeks, I have been calling EVERY DAY for multiple times to book my appointment for packages that I have already paid for. There is nobody to be found to answer phones! It is the most ridiculous, horribly incompetent instance of customer service imaginable. So now, they have my money, and I have no way of making use of the services I paid for or to get a refund because they are completely unreachable. I would no longer recommend this spa to anyone. more

Quick and painless 12/8/2010

Ask for Elle. I had my underarms lasered almost two weeks ago. I did not have to wait and the treatment itself was about 10-15 minutes - over before I knew it! Elle was excellent in walking me through the process and very honest about her experiences with hair removal. I am already noticing results - the dead follicles are starting to fall out and not much hair remains. I will definitely return. more

Very Warm, Professional Staff and Great Waxing! 10/5/2008

After reading the mixed reviews I was a bit concerned about going to the Madison Avenue location, but I must say I am really happy I went. Genevieve did a really great job on my waxing as well as made me feel as comfortable as possible while doing such an uncomfortable procedure. From the second I walked through the doors, she greeted me with a warm welcoming smile and did everything possible to make the procedure painless. She used both warm and hard wax which is awesome. Hard wax seems to be much faster and better in certain areas of the body. I was also impressed by how clean everything was. She wore gloves and there was no double dipping. (I have had horror stories with other waxing places in NYC). I liked the fact that they put a special cream on you afterwards and let you clean your own business. It was done in a very professional manner and there was really no wax left over to clean. I finally found the right place, I will definitely be back. Pros: Very Skilled Friendly Staff , Relaxing Music, Room Smelled Incredible Cons: 2nd Floor Walk Up more

Best Wax Best Care Best Service in New York!!! 7/9/2008

My girl friends have been going to Completely Bare for years and recommended the place to me. Their recommendations paled in comparison to the real thing. I don't even know where to begin. Everything was amazing- from my phone call to make the appointment to the time they wished for me to have a great 4th of july!! The receptionist who picked up the phone was so helpful and she answered every question I had and handled all of my concerns. She made me feel so comfortable with all of the questions that I felt were awkward. I felt like I was talking to a friend. As soon as i opened the door and stepped into the spa i was greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome by every employee that walked by. They offered me water (cold or room temp- how fab!) and magazines. I never got to read the magazine because by the time I grabbed the magazine the technician came out and was ready for me. There was no wait time!! I have a hectic schedule so this meant so much to me. The tech was so funny and so caring. She was mentally getting me through the wax. Kept my mind off of it and it was so fast. They didn't double dip which was a huge concern for me. After the wax she went in and tweezed every single hair that the wax didn't grab. She was so amazing. I didn't feel rushed at all and I felt like their whole spa revolved around me. It was such a good feeling. Such a beautiful small and intimate space they had. Loved the decor, the atmosphere, and the energy there. I recommened it to my sister who is visiting I can't wait to see what she says. Love Love Love this place!!! Pros: Staff, service, convenience Cons: I wish they had more locations! more

FACIALS A NO GO 6/25/2008

I have read and heard so much about this place that I thought I would try It for a facial. When I get to the location I could not believe what it looked like. I mean this is a spa that is in every magazine and it looked like this. The decor was beyond bad. The five dollar painting looked like it was found off the street. I should have walked out but I didn't. Once they took me back for treatment I went into what was one of just a few rooms. The room itself did not look like a facial room but some sort of make-shift room. The facial was OK. But It was noisy the entire time. A few days later my face broke out. I called and asked if I could speak with the Esthetician that saw me and maybe she could answer a few questions of the products I bought. No one there would let me speak to her, they just gave me the run around. I then asked if I could return one of the products that was not used and they told me I would only get a service credit. Who sells products that won't return for money or credit for another product? Overall this place is a joke, Its small, dingy and out of date. If the spa is so well known then put some of that money in overhauling that tiny former apartment. And have a return policy for products. Pros: marketing and PR Cons: pushy sales, location, completely out of date more

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone 5/5/2008

I got my first treatment of laser hair removal for my underarms and the technician burned me. I thought accidents happen so I scheduled a brazilian wax the following week and was not happy at all. I have had at least 6 brazilian waxes and this was the most painful of them all, I think she kept the wax on way too long. She didn't remove all the hair and she didn't even clean the wax off of me. She had the nerve to say ""look and tell me if i missed a spot"", she was a very nice person but her job is to make sure all the hair is gone especially when I'm paying $78. I go to Buzios and I pay $50 and the woman, I think her name is Anna, is so good. She takes her time and makes sure all the hair is gone and cleans you up good with an antiseptic. The girl at completely bare just squirted some lotion on me and said ""put it wherever I waxed"". Maybe I just got an inexperienced person but I will never go back there again because the pain lasted for hours, ouch. Pros: The staff is very nice Cons: Workers are inexperienced more

completely bare spa is AMAZING 3/27/2008

I went to completely bare spa and I FELL IN LOVE with the spa and everyone that was there!!!! I would recommend this spa to EVERYONE!! They are SO nice and everyone takes such good care of you! OMG! I haven't even mentioned their products......they are WONDERFUL!!! CB spa has the most high-end product lines that are on the market today! I LOVE their Arugula smell!!! I LOVE their 'ouch-less wax'!!! I LOVE how comfortable everyone makes me feel. I LOVE COMPLETELY BARE!!!!!!!! TRUST will love it too!!!!! Pros: products, services, staff, value, etc Cons: NONE, SERIOUSLY more

Great Laser hair removal 2/16/2008

Finally a place that is great with laser hair removal . I did my bikini and other areas i would rather not mention but it works and everyone makes you comfortable . I did have to waite sometimes but it was worth it . They are very knowledgable and sweet . Pros: Laser hair Removal works great Cons: Have to waite sometimes more

Great Wax!!!!! 2/11/2008

I went downtown last week for my Laser and I absolutely loved it.. I was in the neighborhood and had a last minute date and decided to get my brows waxed.. They look FAB!!!! The techs name was Grace. Now my brows aren't the most perfect to begin with but she did such an amazing job, thay actually look even now!!!.. Thanks Grace... !!!... Pros: atmosphere, technicians, more

Great services very poor/unfriendly receptionists! 11/5/2007

The only reason I didn?t give this place 5 stars is because the receptionists and girls working behind the front desk are extremely rude and unprofessional. When I call to make an appointment I am left on hold forever and then they forget what we ALREADY discussed 5 minutes prior to me being left on hold. Secondly, they are EXTREMELY rude when I cancel an appointment. I have been using CB spa for almost 2 years and I don?t think its justifiable giving me an attitude when I call to cancel if I am sick or stuck at work. Lastly, they have, on a few occasions, lied to me about how late I can get my wax. When I asked the girl who waxed me, she told me I was able to come at least 30 mins later and it shouldn't have been an issue. Pros: The spa/wax professionals are wonderful Cons: Admin staff is horrid more

Pretty but Poor 6/12/2007

Sure completely bare is nice to look at but beware if you are just a regular customer. People get pushed aside if someone important walks in the door. Clients apointments are just an inconvenience if an editor needs a facial or a wax. These kinds of people take president over anyone who has had a proper apointment. Some woman, I am assuming a manager or the owner walks around like shes a supermodel, constantly surveying the place, strutting up and down the long halway of treatment rooms. (a super model she is not) The rest of the staff is very friendly, they will help you with anything and everything you need. Other than a good natured staff and nice decorum this Spa is not worth the price. Please, go somewhere else, you will get the same treatment with out hurting your wallet. Pros: visualy aesthetic Cons: will break your wallet, and you apt will get pushed around more

Nice staff but can't make up for bad waxing - and muy expensivo - beware: they charge extra for 4/17/2007

Needed a bikini wax right before beach vacation. Easy enough to get an appt, friendly staff - including my waxer - but she wasn't that good (left a hickey-like mark on my inner thigh that showed up on the beach for two days - that only happened to me once before in 15 years of being waxed, and that was with someone who was waxing for the first time!!). Furthermore: I had scheduled for a bikini wax, and was told - when I asked if she could get the extra 6 hairs right ""next door,"" that there was an extra charge for ""bikini with inner thigh."" Again - 15 years of being waxed - and I have been to Russian shops (inexpensive, good waxers) to high end spa/salons to your basic neighborhood Korean nail shop - and this was the first time in my life someone had mentioned an extra charge for those 6 hairs! (I am fair skinner with light brown leg hair - so that's not an underestimation, those 6 hairs.) Normally I would let it go but they would show on the beach so I had it done. Total about $80. No, not a Brazilian either - just a basic bikini. I don't even like them to ""go too far"" (specifically asked her NOT to take too much off - I'm squeamish there). Pros: Nice staff, OK location, good hours Cons: Overpriced, extra charges for things unheard of elsewhere, bad waxers (left me bruised) more

Good facial, bad attitude- uptown location 3/19/2007

Went to the location near Barney's as well and used a gift card to get a facial (the one downtown did not have a single facial appt for 7 days- i checked ANY time during the day b/c I was on vacation and I checked repeatedly and this happened). So I went uptown and I couldn't get the facial designated (with its price) on my gift card so they suggested one that ended up being really nice but cost 40$ less. They didn't refund any of the difference or even let me use it to buy something because I got my gift card from a charity auction- in other words b/c the card was donated for an event they didn't care if I lost some of the value. While I loved the facial itself and the person who gave me the facial was very nice, the uptown location is really small and honestly, I find it a bit offensive that they treat people differently based on where they got their gift cards (the clerk was pretty abrupt with me for even questioning this). My card was actually bid on at a charity event and I find it annoying that the value isn't fully returned simply because the store didn't directly make money off of you... Pros: Staff seems well-trained and knowledgeable about skin care Cons: very small space more

No more bikini bumps! : ) 12/27/2006

Wow! My bikini line looks great! Clean, and spot free, great job by friendly and professional staff! Pros: friendly and professional more

Fabulous!!!!! 6/5/2006

Having recently returned to NYC I was in search of a place to get my waxing done when I inadvertenly stumbled upon the Completely Bare spa in Barneys. The staff was highly accomodating and squeezed me in. I had my brazilian done with Christina who was absolutly wonderful, we talked and laughed through the whole treatment, making it so much easier to bare. I have now returned several times and have recommended many friends whom also love it. I suggest you try it out. Pros: service, friendly Cons: finding phone number more

User review by kathy28 10/6/2005

I visited the spa for the permanent hair reduction and could not be more happy with the results. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and addressed all and any of my concerns. more

Money Pit 8/1/2005

Thousands of dollars later... Permanent hair removal did not work at all. I've had a very mixed experience - sometimes they offer a free follow up appointment and promise it should work this time (it never does) and sometimes they have the gall to charge me hundreds more dollars + tips to have the 'necessary follow on' they claim is disclosed up front. The staff seems to turn over a lot, and for the most part is incredibly rude, even argumentative, with a few nice people every now and then. The machine frequently breaks down, and they charge the touch-ups by get the picture! On the flip side, the downtowm location is a joy - they are honest and nice, and accountable for their services. Not sure why the two are so different, but if you go to CB Spa, head SOUTH! They are very professional and nice here. Pros: 1 good location Cons: 1 bad location, very expensive more

Expensive 4/27/2005

The staff were snobby and I felt it was nothing to be wowed about. For the price, I expected alot more. more

Completely Divine 11/1/2004

I had sworn off waxing until I went to Completely Bare!! I had a terrible experience at another salon, but my bestfriend convinced me to go with her to Completely Bare. From the moment I walked in, the staff made feel very comfortable and at ease. My techinician was great and turned waxing into a totally bearable experience. She even introduced me to permanent hair reduction, which I've been doing ever since and absolutely love!! You have to try it! Pros: clean, friendly, professional more
