Free zoo, and some Free Depression on the side. 8/5/2006

Last time I went to this zoo I left feeling very depressed. I often find PETA protesting this zoo. The animals all look miserable. They are couped up in tiny cages, it smells of manure, and most cages are just concrete. I think the Lions made me the most sad, the ones outside were not moving, dispite the constant heckling of people watching them, and the Lions inside were not moving, because they had no room to do so. So if you want to teach your kids how animal rights are important and should be considered in some respects, go to the Como Zoo. If you want to see animals happy and in nice environments, go to the Minnesota Zoo. more

My family loves to go here and visit the animals. We have a great time there. And the best thing is that its free! They have a beautiful garden here with a little creek through the middle. They have a conservatory that has a whole bunch of different kinds of plants from different places. Its a really neat place! more

Great Zoo 11/10/2005

This is a free zoo. I think now they are asking for a donation since they remodeled this summer. But it is only a donation. This summer they had a baby giraffe and zebra. They were so cute. They have zoo boo on the weekends before Halloween it's a lot of fun for younger kid local businesses donate and the kids go around and get treats. The regular zoo has seals and polar bears. The rides got an update too this year. more

Como Park 10/27/2005

This is an awesome place to bring the family young or old. We have been going there every since our children were born. Each year we take pictures of the kids on the turtle and the monkey. Be sure to see the seal shows. Great place to take a break and eat lunch or a snack! more

Great zoo, and its FREE 9/24/2005

Como zoo is a great, traditional animal zoo. First of all it is FREE, which is always great. Second, it is outdoors only, so you can only go when the weather is good. What I like about this zoo is that it has traditional animals like zebras, elephants, lions. These are animals you will not find at the MN zoo. Like anywhere, the food is expensive, so bring your own lunch. There is a separate area of rides for the kids, but I have not gone there yet. There is also a nice park across the street for after the zoo, or for lunch! This is a great place to go! more

Great family fun 9/23/2005

This zoo is definetly something you want to go to, whether it be with the kids, a group of people or just you and someone else. It is a free zoo, and by far better (in my opionion), then the MN zoo. The animals are a lot closer and therefore you can see them better. It also has a nice selection of primates, which the MN zoo does not have. It is open year round, except for some things like the rides and carousel. Their are rides which run fairly cheap. This is a great family place to take those kids on a nice afternoon. They will love it, and you will love it. more

Como Park and Zoo 8/31/2005

Como Park is well maintained for a public park, and Como Zoo is one of our favorite family outing spots. It’s a smaller zoo than Minnesota Zoo – therefore, it’s not quite as overwhelming to visit when you don’t have a whole day allocated to that. Gorillas are always entertaining, lions sometimes have kittens on display, but our favorites are polar bears. Best of all, Como Zoo can be visited for a donation – or for free. more

Great zoo - and it's free! 8/10/2005

This is a great zoo with a variety of animals. The park is very well maintained! There is also a beautiful conservatory that is filled with wonderful plants and flowers! Great place for a date and a picnic - or to take the kids - or to stay warm in the winter (in the conservatory). There is also a small amusement park on the park grounds - but I have never been there. This zoo has been around forever (since around the turn of the century) - but they continue to update it. more

Great free zoo. 8/9/2005

They ask for a donation and it is one of the only free zoos left. They have the standards giraffes, lions, tigers, polar bears, sea lions some of which are not offered at the MN Zoo. They have seal shows daily during the summer. They have new rides which have a fee and a historic carosel which is $1.50 to ride. more

Nice public park 8/9/2005

Como Park is a medium sized park in Saint Paul. It's great for walking, jogging, roller blading, and biking. The trails are nicely paved and goes around Como Lake. This way you can get a great view at on the trail. Also, this area contains many unique antique houses. There is a deli in the main building an upper open level for events and extras like paddle boating. It is in walking distance of Como Zoo. more

Summer Fun 8/5/2005

Como Park zoo and conservatory offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Considered to be one of the premier parks in Minnesota, your family will not be disappointed. The park is located in a beautiful area of St. Paul which is easily accessible to anyone. Whether you are in the mood for a game of golf or talking a long walk, you will find plenty of great outdoor activities here. The zoo is a great attraction and one which I recommend. The cost is free and they have a lot of great animals and fun rides for the kids. The zoo is also open in the winter. You can't beat that for a free day of fun. more

Zoo & Amusement Park 8/5/2005

Como Zoo is one of the best twin city offerings available. From the zoo to the new amusement park, it is one of the most popular places. The amusement park has just been updated with the rides. The Zoo has a nice mixture of park and animals and it is very clean. I suggest combining the visit with the nearby Conservatory. It is a short walk away. Inside you will see beautiful flowers and plants, which will spark new ideas for your garden. A nice idea for your visitors more

Como Park 8/1/2005

Como Park area has it all. First there is the free zoo. The zoo has a wide variety of animals to see. They have animals both indoors and outdoors. Then you can go next door to the conservatory. This costs a small fee but has some of the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen. Down the road is a huge picnic area. And across the street is a playground and a small amusement park. Everything is kept clean and looks nice as well. more

From the Zoo to the Conservatory, it is all worth it! 7/29/2005

Como Zoo is one of the most popular places to visit within my circle of family and friends. The Zoo itself is very clean and they have a great assortment and variety of animals to see. After the Zoo, walk over to the Conservatory, a must see in my book. For a small donation you can see some of the most beautiful flowers, plants and trees in the metro area...especially uplifting in the cold winter months. A+ in my book and can't wait to go again. more

Wonderful small zoo 7/28/2005

I think the Como Park Zoo is a great zoo for children. It is small and you can see animals up close pretty well. I also like that you can go for a short time and not feel like you aren't getting your money's worth since it is a free zoo. They do collect donations and it is nice to donate to keep the zoo going. I highly recommend it! more

Como Zoo Park 7/24/2005

Como Zoo is a great place to take your family for a day of fun. They have recently remodeled and added a larger children's ride park. The park also features a large carousel and plenty of animals to enjoy. During various times of the day they also feature a sparky the seal show. The zoo is free to enter, which is nice if you have to bring a large group. You are also welcome to leave a donation. Most of the rides were geared towards younger children which we really enjoyed. This zoo is one of our favorite outing spots. The kids will definitely enjoy it and adults also. more
