Best

Overall for a downtown gym this one is great. The only cons are that is is small and often tredmills are not available. Pros: friendly staff, great location, great locker room...

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/30/2012

The lack of customer service at this club is absolutely mind-blowing. Not only are they non-responsive, but flat out rude. My husband and I separately joined CAC downtown and Cherry Creek Athletic Club and the difference is clear. We have both since happily joined CCAC and will never go back to CAC Downtown. more

Stay away from Colorado Athletic Club on Welton 8/27/2010

My boyfriend stopped in for pricing information on this club, and the next thing he knew, he's being pressured into a free beer with the manager while they signed him up for a $90 per month membership. He was told he could cancel in writing within 14 days. When he sent them an email to cancel, he started getting a flood of phone calls pressuring him to stay. Finally, after several phone calls asking why the email cancellation didn't work and how to cancel for real this time, he was told he could come in any time during business hours to cancel, only to be told that that wasn't true b/c he supposedly needed to speak with the membership person, who wasn't there. At that point, he came close to ""losing it"" and threatened reported them to the BBB, if they didn't take care of him right at that moment. The threat of the scene he was about to create got 3 people with cancellation applications and apologies right away and the deal was finally done! It still took 1 week even after finally completing the ridiculous cancellation paperwork before he got his refund. more

Deceptive, liars and too expensive 8/5/2009

I just finished a dispute over charges with them recently with the famous business watchdog group that sounds like Bitter Busyness Bureau (citysearch flags the real name of the bureau as inappropriate for some reason). They have a Bitter Busyness Bureau rating of ""F"" I didn't get the reimbursement I wanted, but that complaint could have gone on forever because they must have people who only deal with Bitter Busyness Bureau complaints and are dedicated to being as deceptive as they can with them. Long story short, they canceled their contract with the pool at the Hyatt without telling their customers. I only used the pool, never once stepped into the gym except to get my Hyatt parking ticket stamped. So when I found out the pool contract ended, two days after the first day of the month, I told them I wanted to cancel. Since I missed the 1st of the month deadline (by 2 days, mind you) to give them a 30 day notice of cancellation, they said they'd have to charge me for 2 more months. I told them that if I would have known 30 days ago that the pool contract had ended, I would have done so. Many emails and phone calls later and filing a complaint with the Bitter Busyness Bureau, they still got me for $70 I shouldn't have had to pay them. more

Not very motivated 1/7/2009

This club employs some good or even great staff, but the turnover is pretty high and there is a level of disorganization about the place. For the 5 years of my membership, I found it convenient because I worked downtown. However, they kept raising the prices but didn't really make any positive changes. Many times, classes are cancelled for no reason. They seemed to have stopped offering cutting edge or new classes and the times are fairly inconvenient once you stop working downtown, which I did. I enjoyed my membership to a point, but the company really doesn't seem very motivated in keeping its membership happy. Pros: Experienced, friendly staff Cons: Not modern enough, scheduling of classes is bad and it is overpriced more

Colorado Athletic Club accounting process is a nightmare 4/21/2008

The Colorado Athletic Club has severe accounting problems. I personally walked a check down for my monthly payment 4 different times. I have no idea what they did with these checks and neither do they. They then sent me past due notices for payments that their teenage secretaries in deed received. I then called the main office (inverness), of which no one is of any help either. I do NOT recommend this Club to anyone. Their are plenty of other exclusive clubs that are cleaner and nicer, for less!! Pros: close to my home Cons: Accounting, staffing, parking, service more

Fine club that needs to think through the details 7/24/2007

I have been a member of the CAC for about 6 months and have, overall, been very pleased with the quality of the facility, the equipment, and the availbilyt of workout options. Particularly, they have a very strong personal trainer staff and a good, attentive facilities and sales staff. The only major divot has been recently in the very nice remodel to the locker rooms. They have installed new lockers and carpet; both are a large improvement, but some of the details of the transition, particularly the reassignment of lockers, seem to have been mis-managed pretty severely. In what seems to me now to be a ""penny-wise, pound foolish"" maneuver, they reinstalled the old combination locks in the new lockers even as they knew they didn't work very well in the old lockers. Now, after 5 frustrating attempts to get a locker that works--and all didn't--and 5 shortened workouts as I've tried to deal with the situation (ending the day frustrated and annoyed intead of relaxed as I usually am after a workout), I'm almost at my wits end. The staff has done all they can to help, and I can tell that they are as frustrated as I am, but the overall impact for me has been to make me wonder about the senior management of the facility and their judgement. If I didn't think this was a clearly better club in most ways than the DAC, I would consider switching, but I am certainly hoping they can continue to plan things better at the bigger-picture level. They certainly have the potential to be the best serious athletic club in downtown Denver if they can make sure they attend to the details more effectively! Pros: equipment, staff, fitness options, corporate discount plans Cons: management, staff communication, maintenance details more

Poor customer service reps; no help available from corporate staff 2/27/2007

I became a member of the CAC in 2006 and was never informed of the complete terms of my contract (i.e. that once I turned a certain age, my monthly dues would increase by $30, regardless of the fact that I signed a year-long contract for $70/month) and upon trying to get help from the corporate office, was told that there was nothing they could do to help me. When I got ahold of the manager of the downtown CAC, he was incredibly rude and although said he was ""trying to work with me"", did anything but that and essentially berated me. Pros: Tons of equipment Cons: Rude staff and management more
