Job # 55241640-CO-A This was my first time to use a moving company so I really didn't know what to expect. We moved from Tennessee to Florida. From the start it was an easy, smooth experience. Our coordinator was helpful and easy to reach. Our driver was so personable. And the loaders were great! They were so cheerful, polite and helpful and packed everything with great care. The delivery ran late but the truck had a flat tire so it was understandable. The un-loaders were nice and polite but did seem to be in a rush. But it was a very hot, long day so I don't blame them wanting to get it finished. more

Our family moved from TN to Northern VA. The customer service was great and they were in contact with us frequently. The movers arrived on-time and delivered on-time. We did not have any missing or broken items. Truly a worry-free move! more

Job#: 55245191-CO-A. Great experience. Christina M and Melissa A were fantastic to work with. Paid attention to the smallest details and gave advise on what to look out for. The driver/mover, Amos, was also great. Wrapped EVERY item and loaded the truck carefully and tight as if it was his own furniture. When unloading, he asked where we wanted each item placed and he and his helper took it there. Great group of people to do business with. Highly recommend and I would use them again. more

The movers arrived and packed all of our boxes, carefully placed them in the truck and we filled out all necessary paperwork. The men politely said their good byes and left. Upon arriving in Arlington, VA we met the same guys and they quickly and efficiently brought up to the 18th floor all of the furniture and placed everything where we wanted them placed. My family and I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida. All of the movers were very professional and hard working. The gentleman that assisted us with our quotes [Russell Thomas] was great, I really felt as if he was trying to make our quote as accurate as possible to prevent future frustration. My only complaint is that there was a mix up with the total the grand total at the end with the subcontracting moving company whom had said that our belongings exceeded 2000 pounds more than what was originally estimated, but in the end we were only charged the amount that we expected to pay. I am pleased with the overall service. more

My first time using this company and it went off very well. I moved from Tennessee to Massachusetts and the experience, from the estimating stage to the delivery and sign-off was wonderful, contrary to all the reviews I had heard about the company. I think it all depends on who shows up to load and then deliver your stuff and what type of day they have been having! The estimation process was smooth and in the end turned to be fairly accurate of the weight I actually had after the truck was loaded. This is where most companies will get you, estimate low to get your business and then charge you later for the excess weight. Colonial estimated lower than other companies, but in the end, that was only about 500lbs lower than what I had. The guys who showed up to pack and load my stuff were friendly, helpful, flexible, and understood every single instruction I gave them about care for my items. They worked diligently from 8am to 6pm to pack and load the truck, never complaining or 'showing attitude' about the work or anything else. The guys who delivered the stuff to my storage unit were, once again, courteous and fast at their work. They loaded the storage unit well enough to fit all my stuff. They could have done a better job of stacking logically, but, in their defense, they probably did not know what boxes went together and where to place furniture. Overall, a good experience through and through and I will recommend this company to friends and family. Please do your homework and get 4-5 estimates, including one from Colonial, and then compare and contrast experiences to make the best decision for you. more

Being a military family we are used to relocating very frequently, but we have to say that this is the very first time where the overall moving experience was very easy and simple. The personnel at Colonial Van Lines were always very professional and available for every question we had, they walked us through the whole process step by step, their pricing is also very competitive, will definitely use them again for our next move. A bunch of deceitful people working for this company. My husband and I just recently got married and were moving cross country from SC to CA. We initially were going to go with a Pod, however, their sales (liars) associates got our number somehow and told us they could do it for cheaper as well as provide movers for free. They also lied and told us Pods loads and unloads the containers at a 45 degree angle (Which is NOT true at all). So sounds like a great idea right? WRONG! Their supposedly "knowledgeable" representatives had us walk through our entire apartment and garage (twice!) pointing out every little thing we owned as well as assured us they were over estimating the weight. After the second call they up'ed the price even more and forced us to put down more money for the deposit "just in case". Well, finally the day of the move comes and their outsourced driver, could neither fit his truck in our apartment complex, which Colonial said would be no issue, and were going to charge us $700 to get a smaller truck to move our things in and out. Secondly, the driver told us because the people before us were scammed (yes he even admitted Colonial are crooks). The people before us were quoted under the actual weight and doubled their order. Because they doubled their order, they could no longer fit all our things in the same truck. Colonial stated that we would have to pay for our own storage for our remaining items, that the truck could not load, and it could take anywhere between 2-4 weeks! Well naturally that was unacceptable and because they could no longer hold up their end of the deal by providing us services that day (since we were forced to move out of our apartment THAT NIGHT!), we assumed that Colonial would give us back our deposit. NOPE! After speaking with over 5 different reps, none of them had any sympathy for us or even seemed to care that they did not hold up their end of the contract and refused to give us our money back since the driver came (Even though he did NOTHING!). more

We used Colonial for our move from PA to TN. The movers were punctual and fast pace. They were careful with our belongings and wrapped the furniture with blankets. All arrived in TN safe and on time. We would recommend them for any size move. Safe move to your new destination. Ernie more

I used Colonial Van Lines for my relocation move. I had to put my things in storage for a few months and that went without incident. Once ready, and after a few date changes, my things were delivered. Even though it was Super bowl Sunday and 4:30 pm, the delivery was made and the team was very courteous and willing to get the tv unpacked as quickly as possible. more

The actual movers were very pleasant and professional. Items were stacked very well on the truck and then placed in my storage unit 3000 miles away in the best manner possible considering it was raining. Communication was great from start to finish. I moved from Los Angeles to Denver with Colonial Van Lines in March of 2015 and had a very good experience. Both on the front end pick up and the back end delivery, the crew was informed about the moving process and professional. In addition, I had a dedicated coordinator who was always just a phone call away if I needed anything. For sure, a cross country move is stressful. Colonial Van Lines was great! I read all the bad reviews and was a bit nervous but I'm so glad I used them. They made everything easy and worked around my schedule to find a company that could move me exactly when I wanted too. They constantly checked in on me and made sure I was well informed and had everything prepared. The company that did the actual moving, ADI, was great as well, honest, fast, hardworking, and great communication throughout the move. I would definitely recommend this company!
