Great start, SAD finish. Are you kidding me?! What a disappointment! With 12 or more great steaks within walking distance, they call this a chop house? ONE, and yes I said ONE ...

give it a try 9/4/2009

I've been twice, and I very much enjoyed my visits. They start with fresh bread, which is tasty. The butter is nice and spreadable. The mushroom soup is great. Same for the quail. The BBQ chicken sandwich was stellar and large. The mushroom tart is solid. The steak, burger, and Caesar salad were just OK. I had some sort of bread pudding for dessert, and it was quite large and pretty good. And there's more I want to try.\r \r Something to note: at this writing, the menus online and in the restaurant aren't the same. The real prices seem to be less in the restaurant itself, and the selections are different. In any event, there is much to enjoy at a reasonable price, but don't get too attached to any dishes listed online.\r \r And if it's not crowded, don't worry. Just go in and give it a shot. The service is friendly, and the place itself is a cool space. Pros: most food is very good; prices reasonable (esp. lunch) Cons: parking downtown can be difficult more

WHAT A WASTE - DON'T BOTHER 7/24/2009

Great start, SAD finish. Are you kidding me?! What a disappointment! With 12 or more great steaks within walking distance, they call this a chop house? ONE, and yes I said ONE person waiting on 8 tables on a Friday night, plus serving the bar. Service was, needless to say, slow. And no help from Cielo, which is the sister restaurant, sharing the same building , same kitchen, same bus staff. Someone please alert the GM!!!!. Slow. Appetizers were good, the calamari was great. Then a wedge salad that was mostly lettuce core. Hmm, most of the time, that gets taken out.... This I can forgive, the blue cheese dressing was handmade, fresh, totally delicious. Then, the steaks came out absolutely wrong. Note for management & waitstaff: TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE!!! If you are not going to write it down, at least get the type of steak that we all had right, much less the temperature. Somebody who ordered a rare steak will look totally unhappy eating medium well! All totally backwards. And we tried switching. The right cuts were cooked all wrong. Then no one even bother to ask if the steaks came out right. Why bother in a steak joint, right? The sides were missed totally, but by this time, the only thing that was right was the wine. And forget about sending it back, with a half full restaurant, and one person taking care of us, why bother. Too bad, we had such high hopes. It 's sad, and I hate to say it, cuz corporate restaurants are the devil, but go to Strip House and McCormick & Schmick's . At least you won't be mad at a $150 tab. But not to fret, if you procrastinate, you'll miss this one. They 'll be out of business in 6 months. Pros: Great Wine Selection Cons: 1 person waiting on 8 tables + the bar on a friday more

Great Place 6/17/2009

Took my wife for dinner and found the place to be very romantic and very pleasant. The Tuna Tar Tar was amazing. The onion rings are Shiner Bock beer battered ""Melts in your mouth”. \r This place has a great wine selection and plenty of upscale Whisky, Bourbon and Scotches\r The steaks are cooked perfect. The ambiance is wonderful. \r According to the Manager they have started with new staff. Very Professional, nice and knowledgeable\r Pros: Great Tuna Tar Tar! Cons: Did not have any more

Can't compare to the big boys, but neat place anyways 5/6/2009

I think this is a new concept from the Bella Group, which also owns Mia Bella, CoCo, Saffron, Cielo, etc. My wife and I tried it on a Friday Night in early April before seeing Les Mis. At 7:00pm the place was empty sans a couple of people sitting at the bar wearing jeans, t-shirts, and sporting dreadlocks – not exactly what I expected from an upscale restaurant. For quite a while we were the only ones in the dining area, and the service was friendly and competent. The wedge salad was OK, and the filet was cooked-to-order but it was not the quality (nor the price I might point out) of other fine steakhouses such as V&A’s and Fleming’s. The hashbrowns were OK, too. The décor is great, though, and the old movies playing on the wall were a nice touch. Since it’s located downtown, parking can be a pain. Overall, I thought it was OK, but my wife seemed to like it better than me. I’d go again, but if I’m really looking for a steakhouse with awesome steaks, I’d go elsewhere. Pros: Decor; service Cons: Parking (downtown) more
