This small town museum has been compared favorably to some of the largest and most prestigious in the country. It is an accredited institution, one of only five in the state of Utah. Although this museum does not have a T-Rex, it has a wonderful allosaurus, the Utah state vertebrate fossil, equally as impressive as the T-Rex meat eater! Spacious halls display many discoveries from this rich paleontological and archaeological region and the displays of geology from the area adds even a bit more to the experience. The home of the Utahraptor, he is a must see for this museum. Also home to the Pilling Figurines, profiled multiple times in National Geographic and hailed as some of the most pristine, complete and ornate examples of clay figurines in existence, and home to the Huntington Mammoth, one of the finest and most complete specimens of a Columbian Mammoth discovered. One could spend the day at the museum seeing the exhibits and reading the wonderful text. A cell phone tour enhances the experience for those who want even more information. Observation Labs enable the visitor to experience the behind the scenes prep that takes place and also enables the visitor to speak one on one with the preparators. Affordable admission rates, great bang for the buck. Plan a trip to this museum, you will be glad you did! more

Who would have thought you could find a museum in a small, quint town such as this one? I grew up in Price and although I no longer live there, I have fond memories of spending time inside the museum. It's not large but it does have some fascinating pieces. The best known is the T-Rex that fills the small space inside. As a young girl this piece always fascinated me, due to its size and those HUGE teeth! This area of Utah has had many dinosaur findings. Because of the mining industry you will see many footprint fossils on display here. Many of them found within the coal mines. It wasn't uncommon for the miners to bring home these fossils on a daily basis. You can't visit the museum without seeing the mummy they have on display! If visiting this area, make sure you stop in and take the small tour of the museum. You will be pleasantly surprised at what you see! more
