Jessica Holloway Bidwell is an amazing stylist! 1/4/2011

I currently live in Chicago but travel to Minneapolis often for business. Whenever I am there, I make a trip to Cole's to get my hair cut by Jessica Holloway Bidwell. She always leaves my hair looking an feeling great! She is so passionate about hair and is always getting educated on the newest styles and techniques. If you are in the Minneapolis area and are in need of an amazing cut, go see Jessica! more

Jessica Bidwell (Hairstylist at Cole's) by Cindy Murrin 12/16/2010

I have known Jessica for over ten years. I have been a hairdresser myself for over sixteen years in the Chicago land area. I met Jessica through the industry. She is an amazing artist with hair. Jessica is always keeping up on the latest styles and creativity. I love when I am in town and can recieve such expert haircuts and ideas from her. If you are ever in her area, she is A MUST SEE. You will be very happy with her work and the beauty of the salon. more

Jessica Bidwell does excellent work! 12/15/2010

After trying several stylists over the years I decided to try Coles. I asked to see one of their top people specializing in cuts and was lucky enough to meet Jessica. She is a "master" cutter. I never have to worry about waiting a couple of days for the cut to settle - I am always satisfied immediately. AND she likes my gray hair! In addition to her excellent skills she is very personable and caring. I have been seeing Jessica for about 5 years and wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. more

Jess Bidwell (Halloway) is the greatest! 12/15/2010

I've been going to Jess for close to 7 years now; I travel 20-25 miles to see her every 6 weeks for a cut and would drive farther if necessary. I don’t have to go in like you do most salons with a pre-planned out haircut that looks great on someone else hoping it will look great on me. She understands my hair type, how to cut and/or style it, etc. She's done my hair for numerous weddings and my sisters for wedding. My mom even goes to her and walks out feeling just as fantastic as I do after a cut/style. It's a bonus knowing that she's a great friend of mind in addition to being my #1 go to person for anything hair related. more

Jess Bidwell rocks. 12/15/2010

I've been going to Jess Bidwell now for several years and wouldn't think of going elsewhere. She's always extremely pleasant and given me the haircut i've wanted every time. more

Jessica Bidwell is the best. 12/15/2010

I will drive the 20 miles to have Jessica B. cut and style my hair. She is the best. Always takes her time and pays special attention to any suggestions. more

Coles/ Apple Valley, MN 9/8/2010

I had purchased a Hair Cut at Coles, in Apple Valley. I have never been so butchered in my life. I am 75 yrs old and she totally scalped me. Her name was Jessica. I could care less about her being sent to NY to learn, sorry, but she didn't learn a thing. She will never make it in this profession. She doesn't know one damn thing about cutting and styling. For the price, the whole salon is over priced. I will NEVER BE BACK OR RECOMEND THIS SALON AGAIN. I would sue, but that doesn't correct my hair cut, well maybe I will anyway. more

High-end prices, low-end skills 12/25/2009

I've been here a few times, because it's close to my house. I have not yet gotten a good haircut here. I usually go to this salon when I am in a hurry to get my hair trimmed and am too lazy to drive to my normal salon in St. Paul. I also agree with the other reviewer who said that it seems like the stylists are always rushing to get you out of their chair so they can move onto the next client. I expect that sort of treatment when I'm paying $9.99 for a haircut, but not when I am paying Cole's Salon prices. Recently, Katie did a terrible job on my hair. I gave her directions and told her how I wanted my haircut (especially my bangs trimmed). She didn't listen, and I ended up with a LOT thicker bangs than I wanted. They were shorter (a lot!) than I wanted, too. She seemed like she was in a big hurry to hack off my hair. I am counting the days until I've grown out that terrible hair cut enough to go back to a good salon and have it blended into a decent looking hairstyle. I will not be getting my hair cut at this salon again. They charge high-end prices, but their skills are not equal to their prices. Pros: Close to my house Cons: Price, lack of skills, seems like they are rushing you more

Large Salon - Inconsistent 8/27/2009

Cole's Salon in Apple Valley is like many other large salons. Many of its stylists are great (like Kelsey - my stylist) but some are horrible. I love getting my hair cut by Kelsey. She always listens and gives me a great even cut. But, the few times she's been out and I've been assigned to someone else were a nightmare. So, I'd suggest reading the reviews and asking only for a stylist with high marks. Pros: Great stylists at good prices Cons: Beware being put with someone you don't know more

I'm now excited for Summer 4/16/2009

I recently moved to MN and didn't have a stylist. A girl I work with has the cutest cut and color so she referred me to Kim at the Apple Valley location. Kim listened to all the things I didn't like about my hair, then told me what she thought, gave suggestions then made sure I was comfortable with how we proceed. My look is updated, fresh and so flattering. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair. I had an awesome experience and I'm so glad to find a new stylist! Pros: Great prices, beautiful salon more

Wow, that sucked. 11/1/2008

I went to Cole's Salon in Apple Valley today for the first time. I didn't know any of the hair stylists so they stuck me with some aweful lady with long blond hair. I can't remember her name so I'll just call her the B#$@$. Anyways, so the whole time I was there, which wasn't long by the way because she was trying to rush me out... she kept putting me down saying that what I thought my hair should look like was ugly and saying that I shouldn't wash my hair and only condition it once every other day. When I asked why she was rushing through my hair she said she had more important customers coming soon. So what did I get for all the money I spent? A bad haircut, a low self-esteem and a crappy experience. I hope not everyone there is that bad as she belongs at Great Clips, but maybe that is even too good for her. I will never be coming back. Pros: Pretty looking place, good desk service Cons: Horrible stylist with bad attitude and even worse customer service skills more

Loving my hair do 5/28/2008

Let me just say both the salon and staff deserve a ten star rating. I always look forward to getting my hair done; not only is Jessica talented but she's a great person to sit and chat with. I highly recommend this salon more

awesome stylist 4/28/2008

I have gone to Cole's since I was 6, and my mom got sick of the bad haircuts that Great Clips gave me. Last year I started going to a different stylist named Kelsey ( I think that's how you spell it) and she is amazing. She is very friendly, and also listens to exactly what you want done, but may change a couple things to fit you better (not without your consent of course). You are getting this review from a teenager's point of view, but think about it.. I'm a teenager. I'm extremely fashion conscious. Pros: good stylists, good atmosphere Cons: The only thing I can think of is that I can't bike there.. but that's not the end of the world. more

Awesome all around 7/23/2007

I have only been going to Cole's Salon in Apple Valley for about two years, a friend of mine recommended it and after the first visit I was hooked. I have experienced almost every service they have to offer. Cole's Salon gives the best pedicure hands down and the new spa is spectacular. As for my hair, I feel as though I am in a trendy uptown salon when getting it done and I rarely go out without someone giving me a compliment. The entire staff is friendly and I love the environment, they all make me feel great. Pros: Great front desk staff more

Bowl cut anyone. 7/16/2007

Can you say bad hair cut. The gal didn't know what a number two on her clippers was. Very disappointed. Especially for Cole's. I will go to the other ones. Pros: Great front desk people Cons: i had to get my hair recut somewhere else. twice the money more

Staff needs to be trained better 6/25/2007

I have been to Cole?s salon in the past and have had good haircuts and colors before, but when I recently decided to cut 10 inches off my hair I was thoroughly disappointed with Coles. I don't have a regular hairdresser so when I called to make my appointment I asked to be set up with someone knowledgeable who could help me cut my hair from long to short. I think they just set me up with whoever was available. The stylist took the liberty to cut layers up the back of my head that will take me months to grow out!! I specifically said no layers. I thought she was thinning my hair because they usually do that when I get haircuts, but she was actually chopping in horrendous, uneven layers. I'm more angry with the front desk staff for setting me up with someone who obviously needs more training and was not able to give me a decent cut when I specifically asked for someone who knows what they are doing and are experienced. When I got home that day I really realized the mess that was on my head. It was so uneven in the back I cried. I went to Ficocellos salon in Eagan the next day to get it fixed. The stylist there was shocked at the haircut I got at Coles! I know there are good stylists at Coles so I can't say not to go there, just get a referral from someone who has been there and can give you the name of a stylist who will listen to what you say and will work with you. If you can't get a referral, go to Ficocellos. more

Disapointed 6/10/2005

I recently found a great girl at Cole's that seemed to listen to what I wanted. I decided after having my son that I needed a change so I scheduled a consulation to cut off at least 10 inches of my hair, get a new hairstyle and also color and highlight my hair. The style ended up to be nowhere near what I asked for but it was still nice so I didn't complain but she was late that day so she didn't even style my hair or show me the back of it. For 135.00 dollar (which included a 10.00 upcharge for a hairstyle request) I didn't even get my hair styled just blown dry and out the door I went. I felt really bad about it because it was expensive for me and I don't think it's appropriate to short change anyone to make up for lost time. more

Top notch Stylist 10/11/2002

I would agree with what others have posted, Coles is a very good salon. The quality of the hair services provided is at the level of Juut but less expensive. Chrisy, at the AV salon, is the best stylist I have ever gone to. She is smart, personable, knowledge, and actual seeks your input when choosing a style or color. I have get many compliments on my cut and color and I owe it all to her. I am a spa addict and this is the only place I go to get my hair services, plus they have Bumble and Bumble products, it doesn't get much better Pros: Stylist, Cost, Location Cons: Difficult to get apt., front desk more

Love this place 10/10/2002

Love this place! Danni is phenomenal. Probably the most talented stylist I've experienced. She always makes me feel trendy and refreshed when I leave. The front desk staff is friendly and upbeat, and the product line with Aveda and Bumble & Bumble is incredible. Pros: Talented stylist, upbeat front desk, reasonable rates more

Great Styles At Great Rates 8/21/2002

OK, I admit it. I was once the guy who sought out $4.95 haircut coupons in the newspaper. I didn't think "high and tight" was that hard to do so I didn't want to spend ANY money on my hair. Wouldn't you know it, a girlfriend convinced me to give Cole's a try. (She evidently cared more about my appearance than I did. Go figure.) I procrastinated. It was a SALON, after all. I was suprised at the affordable pricing and non-fru-fru atmosphere. Coles truly lives up to the last portion of their name "For You". Their skills and services cater to a broad range of tastes and styles. Now, everyone in our family from kids to grandparents get their various styles at Coles. Six years later, I'm still a loyal customer, and that girlfriend agreed to marry me! Where would you guess we had our wedding day hair done? Pros: Skillful Stylists, Great Value, Comfortable Atmospher more
