Very Dirty and Old 12/8/2011

I joined the gym nearly two years ago ONLY because there weren't too many options uptown Hoboken. I don't think its very clean, the bathrooms smell bad. After a while, i stopped going and started taking Yoga classes around town. Because i had paid for the entire year, I decided to go back (my husband belongs there as well) and I was asked by one of the trainers to get off of a machine because he needed to train someone on it. So in the middle of my work out, i had to get off the machine. i got off and moved to another machine, and my husband was pissed that I let the guy do that. I asked the trainer ""Jim"" why that was, because I pay a membership fee just like everyone else. His answer ""this person is a priority over you because they pay more for training, use another machine until I am done with her"". I was disgusted, I left the gym and am not planning on re-newing my membership. Also, other gyms are opening up in Hoboken, thank goodness for that. \r more

Total Body Transformation 9/20/2011

This was the best investment I could have possibly done. It has totally given me a different view of working out. I hated working out. I used to go to Bally's and get bored and didn't know how to work out. The classes, instructors, and energy at the club are incredibly motivating. This is definitely what I was looking for. I've lost weight, feel stronger/leaner, and now I'm more aware of my nutrition. That's what I call a total transformation. more

It Works 9/17/2011

Everytime I walk into CKO Kickboxing I receive a new challenge which is what keeps me coming back. Their knowledgeable instructors is what keeps me coming back. As I grow older and my metabolism slows down, I fear nothing because I know that as long as I am a member of CKO Kickboxing I will always be able to have the body that I want. more

Terrible Customer Service. Unfriendly Staff. 5/4/2011

Terrible customer service. Watch out -- they'll stick you with auto-renew charges after your contract ends. 10 week program is a joke. They hand you a book and then you're on your own. more

Great Workout But 8/17/2010

I must say, i was at the best shape in my life at this age. It is a great workout and as strenuous as you want it to be. My only concern is the personal trainers. There is no way that the trainers are certified. I've seen trainers use old techniques that are outdated and known to cause injury. I'm an ex-personal trainer myself, had a IFPA certification, not great but i had to take a test that was multiple choice and essay. It focused a lot on safety, the importance of technique, etc. So I really wouldn't recommend to anyone to use the personal trainers there unless you know they have a good certification. Tip: On the lat pull down machine, the bar never goes behind the neck, it can cause neck and shoulder injury. If anyone makes you do it this way, stop going to them. more

Unsanitary, Old equipment and costs as much as NYSC? No Than 8/10/2010

I signed up for Club KO twice, once when it opened for a year and then again a couple years later with my husband. Things you should know about Club KO: 1. it's a dirty 2. they offer ZERO amenities 3. their equipment is ancient and do almost nothing to improve the gym at all 4. their prices are very close to a much nicer gyms in town (e.g. NYSC on 14th Street) with classes and towel service.. so why go here? Yes, it's fun to go to a class or two a week but it gets very old very fast. And yes, it is a good workout ***but*** the gym itself needs a lot of cleaning, renovation and upkeep. I signed up initially when it was less than $50 a month. I thought I could sacrifice the nicer things like towel service or new equipment and even basic things like clean conditions, functional equipment bc of the low price. But now with prices over $70 or even $80 it's completely NOT worth it. They also make it EXTREMELY difficult to leave the gym even if you have ended your contract. Even though this gym was literally across the street from my old apt, going there was never a pleasure because of the dingy atmosphere and less than sanitary conditions. more

Best Workout/Gym people you'll ever meet 7/24/2008

If you're looking for treadmills with tvs and ACs built inside, this gym isn't for you. If you want to see serious results and be at the Cheers of gyms (the whole staff knows your name) than look no further than Club KO. This place takes ""cardio kick boxing"" to the next level with real heavy bags, real technique, and instructors who know their stuff. This place is by no means intimidating though. Both Hoboken locations are stacked with genuinely nice people. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Outstanding Workout, Great People more

I was bored with the same old gym routine and my husband told me about CKO. Once I tried it I was hooked! I immediately saw results and I've never had more energy, yet felt so exhausted after taking a class! It's a great feeling! You work on a heavybag most of the class and they switch it up everytime! Love it! Pros: Great full body workout! more

the best work out 1/18/2008

The 1 And only Gym!! 11/16/2007

Club Ko is and should be the only gym you are going to.Its 100% way better then any other gym! If you don't believe me you should try a class, I can promise you that the next day you will be written a good review on this sight as well!! more

A fun workout 10/30/2007

I take the kickboxing classes at the location in West New York and it is always fun. Even though the instructor's all teach different styles of class all of them provide an entertaining and motivating workout. The toughest part of the workout is making yourself show up. Once you do you get a guaranteed tough workout that leaves you feeling like you accomplished something significant. Trust me, if you belong to a regular gym and then try one of the classes here you'll never want to go back to your other gym again! Pros: Instructors keep it interesting, Always parking available Cons: Only one bathroom more

Not like any other kickboxing workout. 10/23/2007

I've taken fitness kickboxing classes at martial arts studios and I've taken them at traditional kickboxing and boxing gyms. I've even trained a little bit in traditional muay thai. I've had pretty good workouts at all these types of places, but nothing prepared me for the class I took at Club KO. The workout itself was amazing. We took a couple of water breaks during the hour class, but the rest of the time was non-stop. After I was done, I was drenched. I definitely never been challenged like that in a long time. I've been back twice since and had a different instructor and both times the workout was just as challenging! I def recommend this gym to anyone that's looking for a great workout and are unable to get it on their own! Pros: Alternative and Effective Workout. Close to public transportation (Bergenline Light Rail) more

Great Full Body Workout! 9/5/2007

I have been going here for the last 3 months and it's the best work out I've done. I used to be a member of a regular gym and I was always getting bored working out. At KO you take hour classes as often as you like, have your own punching bag and an instuctor. The workouts are intense and you leave drenched. If you are looking for a fun, intense work out I would try this place out. Pros: Full Body work out in 1 hour - Good Instructors - Good size class - Own punching bag Cons: Cut my knuckles from punching - wrap your knuckles before you put gloves on more

The most motivating workout in NYC 6/6/2007

There is nothing compared to this workout. It's all about getting in shape. The instructors are completely motivating and the music keeps you moving through the workout. I've been a member for a couple of months now and I find myself getting excited at work about the fact that I'm going to take a class. Increasingly I find my co-workers easier to deal with. I'm striking a heavy bag, so I no longer fantasize about hitting my boss! The best part is there's no macho nuts or fighters yelling at you. I tried a class a boxing gym and the burnout ex-fighter must have been living in the glory days or something. Anyways, the instructors are guys and girls and they keep you super motivated for the whole workout. They actually make you want to push yourself. Pros: Motivating, Effective, Cheap Cons: Not Sure more

Best Workout I've Ever Done 9/19/2006

I've tried it all -- aerobics, yoga, spinning, pilates, jogging, you name it. But nothing beats the intensity of these kickboxing classes. I'm so glad I finally found something that WORKS and is fun at the same time!! Pros: Fantastic Workout, CHEAP! Cons: Could be cleaner but that's true of every gym. more
