Bad food, Unpleasant service, and High prices 11/18/2009

Civetta is one of those New York places that think that with bad food, unpleasant service, and high prices they can lure people to come their door through some PR magic. But the sad thing in this case is that there's no magic - no scene or vibe that can make this a worthwhile place for either the food or the lounge. It's better those civetta managers take a quick walk towards La Esquina who can teach them one or two things on how to do it, and you might want to do the same for a better experience. Nolita has so many wonderful places (Public, Esquina, Peasant) that only a martyr at heart should go to civetta!!! Better you look for a different place! This one is soooo bad that you probably won't go wrong no matter which other place you chose to go to eventually. Pros: Nolita Cons: There are so many better places in Nolita more

Editorial

  • What happens when the dons of the hospitality industry--Paul Sevigny (Beatrice Inn), Nur Khan (Rose Bar) and Joey Campanaro (The Little Owl and Market Table)--join forces? The result is Kenmare, a Nolita restaurant and lounge boasting a sublime Mediterranean/New American menu and a bar scene that attracts all of the pretty people south of 14th Street. Innovative entrees such as halibut with chive mashed stroganoff and grilled swordfish with caramelized fennel are served in a Mediterranean-themed room dotted with marble-topped tables, peach stucco and decorative sundials. An in-house sommelier helps guests navigate the extensive and somewhat pricey wine list.
