I bought a DVD recorder a couple of days before Christmas online using their 24 minute or $24 guarantee. If it wasn't ready in 24 minutes, I was supposed to be entitled to a gift card. I ordered this way because I didn't want to wait on huge lines in the store since I had to pick my child up from school soon.
I went in the store and waited on a huge line. Finally got to the front of the line and gave the girl my printout and credit card, and she told me to go wait on another huge line. While I was on line, someone took the slip. A long time later, I finally got to the front of THAT line and my order still wasn't ready. I had to wait for them to pull it in the back. I asked the clerk if that meant I was entitled to the gift card and he made me ask someone else, who said no. She said waiting in line time didn't count. I told her that even without waiting in line, my order was not ready even when I got to the desk. and it was way over 24 minutes. The supervisor came over and he said no, but couldn't explain even how the guarantee worked and thought it was funny. Two other customers also started complaining because their orders weren't ready either. The supervisor just shrugged.
I immediately went home and called and emailed corporate headquarters, and a week later I got a gift card in the mail.
I thought I would give them one more try and spend the gift card and buy some DVD+R for the recorder. We went there last week and not one cashier was open. They told us we had to wait on a long customer service line. I put the items down and walked out and won't be back. Circuit city is awful.
