My daughter and I are currently insured through Cigna and we get our health coverage through my employer. I have had them for almost a year now and don't have any complaints so far. They seem to process the claims pretty quickly compared to other insurance companies that I have had. I recently had an issue where my claim was rejected and it said that I owed the full amount, but I contacted customer service and it turned out that the doctor's office had billed them incorrectly. They contacted the dotor's office, the claim was reprocessed and everything was taken care of very quickly. I also had to call customer service because at some point, my daughter's birthday had been entered into the system wrong and so my doctor's office was having a hard time filing the claim. They fixed it very quickly and were very easy to work with. I never have to wait on hold long when I try to call them, either.
We currently have a PPO plan and I pay $230/month for the two of us. Our copays are reasonable ($25 for a regular doctor and $35 for a specialist). Our prescription copays are also very reasonable ($10 for generic). They encourage you to go through Medco mail order for any prescriptions that are long term and this has worked well for us.
I love that you can access your account and view your claims status online at www.cigna.com. You can also search for physcians and specialists that are covered by your plan.
