The flavors are interesting, but the steak was tough. Service was slow with an attitude. I attended one banquet here and it was a fiasco. By the time my end of the table was...

Perfect from Start to Finish 6/18/2003

You can't go wrong with this restaurant. The ceviche and empanada de meduros are to die for, the salads are fresh and inventive, and the black bean soup served in a roll of bread is mouth-watering. As for the entrees, the Churasco Steak is delicious, the pollo bajia is hard to resist and the snapper is savory. Try the Tres Leches or the Chocolate version of this favorite treat. Homemade sorbets are also a refreshing way to end the meal. more

So So Food, Bad Service 6/6/2003

The flavors are interesting, but the steak was tough. Service was slow with an attitude. I attended one banquet here and it was a fiasco. By the time my end of the table was served, the others at the table were finished with their second course. And this was supposed to be a wine dinner! You can guess how much wine was left fpr us. Pros: green sauce Cons: cow skins everywhere, slow, bad service, EXPENSIVE more

AWESOME 4/7/2003

The Churrasco Steak and Lobster Tail is the best. Start of with the multi- tier appetizer and end with the coconut icecream. This is definitely my favorite restaurant. Pros: Great Food Cons: Not in Salt Lake more

Don't get hung up on the steak 4/7/2003

Their steak is wonderful...no question about it. But don't stop at the steak. The pork tenderloin is the best in town. The plantain crusted chicken is the best dish in the house. The grilled veggies!!!!! While the appetizers are great PASS THEM UP, they are pricey. Save the money for desert. You'll get more than you can eat with the salad, entree, and veggies. If you stay away from the apps, you'll get out for about $30.00 a head without booze. Truly a bargin for the quality. As my British friend says ""A remarkable value for money."" Pros: Food, Food, Value Cons: Must have reservation, hate to valet my car, pricey appetizers more

Most Tender Steak I've Ever Had! 2/21/2003

I love this place. The steak is so tender that you don't need a steak knife. The Tres Leches dessert is my favorite dessert in town! And the plantain chips are very tasty. This is a great restaurant! Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service more

Arrogant Waiter 2/14/2003

We waited 20 minutes for our reserved table. The experience started badly, especially when we met our waiter. He loved the sound of his own voice and ignored 3 seperate requests: 1) could you please repeat the special? 2) I'd like a glass of white wine, and 3) I didn't receive my glass of wine, could I please have a glass of white wine? All of this before we ever ordered dinner. When we ordered he proceeded to tell us what we should order. I don't know about you but I know better than a stranger what I'm hungry for. Pros: good food Cons: arrogant wait staff, noisy, long lines more

Disaster in Extreme 1/29/2003

The restaurant served terrible food and had very poor service. I wouldn't let my dog eat here. Cons: expensive, ugly, crowded more

South American delight! 1/21/2003

The South American flavors come through every dish. Whilke best known for its churrasco, the seafood dishes are superb and the appetizers, outstanding. The excellent wine list should help Houstonians familiarize themselves with excellent wines from Chile and Argentina. The deserts while typical, can't compete with fine European pasty. The service is prompt, attentive and efficient, and the athmosphere relaxing and pleasing. The hous wines at the bar are surprisingly Californian, expensive and mediocre. Pros: food, wines, service Cons: bar, desserts, house wines more

it's no Taste of Texas 1/3/2003

Although Churrascos is a fine establishment the steaks are average in my opinion. Pros: inexpensive Cons: crowded more

The best steak in Houston 10/27/2002

The Churrascos steak is the best in Houston. I find it more flavorful and tender than Pappas and Sullivan's. The best compliment to it is their divine lobster tail! It is also served at Americas! more

Who Needs a Steak Knife? 9/4/2002

Churrascos steak is so tender that steak knives are not even offered when it is served - nor do they need to be! One's butter knife is all that's needed. Pros: Reliably delicious, Good service, Unique desserts Cons: Noisy, Crowded, Too few of 'em! more

Tim & Vic's Place 8/22/2002

It is hands down my favorite place to eat in Houston. The food, atmosphere and service are all excellant. My wife and myself go there to get away and have a long dinner of talking, eating, and drinking some of there very fine wines. Pros: Food, ambience, service more

Steak heaven! 8/19/2002

I always order steak and eat my way through plates of plantains (a type of banana). If you've never tried them, they are very unique since they are served as a vegetable but are sweet. Interesting sauces. Good veggies too. Cons: Crowded, Long wait more

melt inyour mouth steak 8/14/2002

the steak is terrific and tender, the south american veggies are different and interesting -- the dessert is yummy too! (try the chocolate tres leches) more

Best steak in the world!!! 7/26/2002

I rarely eat beef, but when I do, I always go to Churrascos. The grilled veggie platter is wonderful. The ceviche is also great. I can't say enough good things about this place! Pros: Steak, Grilled Vegetables, Appetizers more

  • In Short
The interior is earthy and dramatic with black-and-red accents, animal skins and a tropical air. Starters and salads are big and bold, like sweet plantain turnovers filled with queso fresco on guava creme fraiche, or South American-style seviche with hearts of palm, avocado and capers. The infamous Churrasco steak is the main player: a corn-fed prime beef tenderloin (six- or eight-ounce), basted with garlic-parsley chimichurri and char-grilled to order.
