The Italian Sausage with mozerella and marinara is awesome. This is a perfect place for a quick weekend lunch with the family. \r

please stop saying you have anything to do with Chicago 12/13/2010

OK I'm from Chicago and this placedoes not have anything like a real chicago beef or anything else. All I can say for this place is they should go to Chicago and try the food before opening a place in Minnesota. Sad day for me I thought I was getting a taste of home and it was more like Arby's. more

far cry from chicago style 1/18/2009

I'm from Chicago so I was excited to try their Italian beef. If this is the closest thing MN's got to Chicago style food, I think I'll make the 6 hour trip home next time I get a craving. The beef was flavorless and dry- nothing like the seasoned juicy beef they serve in Chicago. My friend liked his chili dog and while Vienna beef dogs are worth the trip, its pretty hard to mess up a hot dog. Besides you can just order Vienna beef dogs online. The italian sausage was also pretty plain. The fries were decent but nothing to get excited about. Although, I never have high expectations for anyone claiming to have ""authentic"" Chicago style food, I thought this place would be different since they get so many of their ingredients from Chicago. In the end, I was quite disappointed. more

generous with the toppings! 8/7/2008

I've ordered pizza from Chris and Robs a few times and I've never been disappointed. They pile on the toppings. Friendly service, great food, you can't go wrong with this place. Pros: great food, generous with the toppings, nice service Cons: don't take credit cards, close fairly early more

Chris and robs is the bomb come on, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! 11/9/2007

As many neighbors in the neighborhood may know I'm in this place all the time! Just don't forget to get your work out on for those days that you eat at Chris and Robs! Everything is good and the service (JOHN) is the bomb. MY favorites include: jalapeno poppers, combo (roast beef and a sausage link on the bottom) and last but not least my new fav the BRAUT with everything on it! yummmmmmm\r WHATS UP WITH A FREQUENT DINER PROGRAM???? Pros: everything tastes good and there is never any screw ups ever... Cons: watch out at high noon cuz it gets busy...i call ahead more

Loved it! 10/19/2007

We went to Chris and Rob's based on the CitySearch ratings. They definitely live up to the the 5 starts. Sure, the food isn't the healthiest, but after all, you are going to a Chicago styled cafe. The onion rings were amazing and the authentic Chicago style chili dog and the Italian beef....WOW! \r \r The south Mpls location is bright and clean. There was large area to sit with a large screen TV and tons of memorabilia. They also have a location in Fridley. \r \r We will 100% go back, take friends and family there and recommend Chris and Rob's to anyone. Pros: Great food & great prices Cons: Only street parking available more

Best Chicago food we have found 8/16/2007

Being Chicago transplants we have searched high and low for the foods we crave and Chris and Rob's is the best we have found. We have a newer place south of the river, but the service is awful so we still make the trek to Chris and Rob's when the cravings are stronger than we can manage. Good food and good prices. Pros: Great food from Chicago Cons: Parking - only street parking and can be hard to find when busy more

Very Unhealthy, but Very Delicious 2/9/2007

Last Saturday, I few friends of mine wanted to know where to eat. I said you want a really unhealthy place to eat so we went to Joey D's. I'm not a big hot dog fan so I can't offer a lot for reviews there. But the Italian Beefs are very good especially with Cheese. They have very nicely seasoned fries. My friend loved his Meatball sandwich with a very chunky sauce. When I have gone here with people on other occasions they all really like it. The menu isn't for the pious though. But overall, I recommend. Pros: Italian Beefs more

Best dogs in town! 11/27/2006

Two dogs with everything and a coke. Best lunch in the Twin Cities! What else can I say, hmmmm, oh yeah--don't put ketchup on a Chicago-style dog. Seriously, if I see you put that bottle anywhere close to that dog, I will be forced to knock that red devil right outta your hand. more

Best Pizza 11/7/2006

Go for the Chicago Dogs and come back for the amazing thin crust pizza. The sauce is extra zippy and they have all the topping choices that you are unable to get at Dominos or Pizza Hut. Pros: clean, great for families Cons: not so healthy more

Authentic Chicago dogs 7/16/2006

My family loves this place. Not much for ambience, but the food is authentic Chicago. My husband's from Chicago and he knows his Viennas! The pizza is fantastic. We order our pizzas to go and eat them over at Minnehaha Park, which is right across Hiwatha. \r Try their meatball sandwich. I never even knew I liked meatball sandwiches until I tried Joey D's. I've got their phone number in my cellphone, so I can order and pick up on my way home.\r You'll have a difficult time getting a table during the meal hours, so be prepared to stand or get it to go.\r We've seen lots of famous Minnesota people in here, including several Twins and Vikings. \r Pros: Food, speed of service, price Cons: Parking and no tables more

it was ok 4/22/2006

overal experience was ok, food is cheap, but so is the price. Pros: price Cons: quality more

Love everything except the location! 3/15/2006

Service is great. Food is great. Price is great. Atmosphere is right for the menu. Location, for me, is not ideal as it's in random residential south Mpls. off Hiawatha (55) very near the light rail line. Last time I went, I had a chicago dog, cheese fries, a can of soda, and a piece of sausage pizza. The dog was awesome. The fries were a little fat/thick but had a tastey seasoning with melted processed cheese. Delicious! The pizza was also very good. It's not the best in the twin cities but VERY good and by the slice. Know, if you live in the neighborhood, that they deliver. Also, they only take cash. Also, it's small and can be very packed! Pros: food, price, service Cons: location, busy more

Great Place for a Birthday 2/26/2006

We recently celebrated my boyfriend's 29th birthday at Joey D's, with a dozen of his friends and family members. Let me just say the employees treated him like a king- with a crown and everything! I was totally blown away by their graciousness. I highly recommend this cozy neighborhood hot dog ""stand"" to anyone thinking of having a laid-back, enjoyable get together! Even if you are almost 30! more

Taste of that sweet home Chicago! 2/5/2006

I'm a transplanted Chicagoan, and have been looking for a place that serves food that I used to get back home. The problem seems to be when people promise ""authentic Chicago"" food, something must get lost in the translation of the recipe. Maybe it's the Minnesota accent or something...I don't know...but let me tell ya Joey D's has nailed it. Excelent beef, good pizza (although a Chicago deep dish would be nice) and the hot dog's...they remind me of a sweet day at Wrigley field watching the Cubs! 100% Chicago approved!!! Pros: Excelent food, REAL CHICAGO HOT DOGS, Very Clean more

Italian Beef!! 1/16/2006

Well-lit, not a lot of seating inside during the winter months, but with their patio and outside seating it would be a great place for a summer sandwich or hot-dog. Any place that can still get by on Cash-Only you simply know has to make great food. It was super clean and the staff was very helpful and overly friendly. Menu items consisted of Chicago Style hot dogs (w. all the fixins), pizza, and of course, the Italian Beef sandwich (get it w/ sweet and hot peppers, mozzarella) They do not ask whether you like it dipped or not dipped, you are gettin it dipped!! The memorabilia all over the walls gives you the feeling youll hear Mike Ditka and Jim McMahon arguing about how they got beat by the Dolphins back in 85. One can talk about Joey Ds, but really, one must experience it. Pros: Ambiance, Food, Staff Cons: Perception, Limited Seating, Cash Only more

Pizza, Pizza 11/22/2005

Since moving to South Minneapolis, I have been looking for some good pizza, and I have found it. I've never ate at the restaurant, but I love the pizza. I have it delivered frequently, and it's normally really quick. Pros: Pizza, Delivery, affordable more

Worth The Trip 7/19/2005

A great place to take the kids. Very friendly staff and clean, clean, clean. The food is wonderful! Something for everyone. Even my vegetarian daughter was happy. Don't miss it! Pros: good food, great value, very clean more
