Exceptional Holiday Decorations 2/2/2011

I love the service it is like going to your neighborhood pub. They know me by name because I am a monthly regular. They will give a sample if you ask for it of the fudge the owner makes himself. I especially love the holiday decorations. I'm in my 40s and love to visit during these times to check out this years window display all by myself. I generally don't carry cash so I have no problem using my debit card to pay for my usual two pieces of chocolate candy. more

Great Chocolate But illegal Practices 5/6/2010

The Treats in the shop are amazing, I would personally recommend the Hawaii Sea Salt. However the total price came to $5.90 and the owner said that a $10 minimum purchase was required for my visa card transaction, this is illegal in any store and should be reported to visa and bbb. Pros: Great chocolate Cons: Rude, Snobby, Smug more

My favorite chocolate shop, very- European 2/24/2010

I'm a regular here (about every 2 weeks) and love the top quality chocolate available, Leonidas and Neuhaus are my favorites. I lived in Europe before and am so happy to find something comparable. I don't really like the sweeter waxy-tasting chocolate you can get at the other well-known dessert places. I always get polite service now that they recognize me, but it can get very busy if there is only one person behind the counter, and if there's a customer like me who likes to choose the chocolates rather than grab a pre-packaged box from the fridge area (although those have good selections in there too). Pros: The best chocolate ever Cons: Can get busy more

BEWARE OF UNETHICAL OWNER!! 10/14/2009

No wonder this place is always empty! I went to Chocolat Du Monde today to buy five small gifts. I explained to the owner that I'd like to spend $15-$20 on each gift. He showed me a box the size of a ring box and told me that's what $20 would buy. I explained to him that I had looked at the prices on the website and found nice combinations that could be arranged for this price (the prices are not posted anywhere in the store, but they are on the website). He told me that since I was ""bargain hunting,"" I should go down the street to Walgreens. Expecting website prices to be honored is not ""bargain hunting."" I went in expecting to drop $100 on chocolate, and this guy to tried to squeeze more money out of me by lying about his true prices. There are plenty of other online reviews about this jerk. Good chocolate is not worth abuse and attempted thievery. Beware!! Pros: Great chocolate Cons: Owner has a huge chip on his shoulder more

Incredible selection of Belgium chocolates 8/19/2008

Yesterday, after a busy morning of garden-hopping in the University area, three friends and I dropped by this chocolate shop for our reward. Wow, what a variety of beautiful treats. It's a selection that I would guess puts Godiva somewhere comfortably ""down"" the list for fine chocolate. Irresistable concoctions and the friendly service behind the counter will have me back soon. Pros: Great locale, convenient Cons: So many choices... so little time more

Rude=Sorry, Not so. My favorite treasure. 6/17/2008

I live in the area and I have been going to this store since they opened and by funny coincidence happened to be in that store a year ago when a large group went in and started eating chocolate and not buying anything. They were extremely rude and loud and not wanting to pay for what they ate. It's too bad people misuse services like this. I guess that's what reviews are about. One womans treasure...... Pros: chocolate & cute gifty idea's Cons: i may need to go on a diet more

Best Chocolate in Houston 8/10/2007

Chocolat du Monde has some of the best chocolate I have found anywhere. The customer service is excellent and very friendly. The employee went out of his way to assist me with the gifts I was purchasing. I will definitely return for more! Pros: Great selection of hard to find chocolates. more

Rude and patronizing service 6/15/2007

Great chocolate, but terrible customer service! A group of us went to Chocolate Du Monde to spend a huge amount of money as we love Belgium chocolate. A friend and I thought the small silver buckets on the counter inf front of us where samples, as there were no prices on them, come to think of it there were no prices on anything. When we chose our chocolates the miserable man serving, totaled up our chocolate and then stated "" ..and for the ones, you ate"" I apologized and said ""I thought they were samples, please add it to our total"" he did not believe me and asked rudely, ?how many did you eat?- I only had one! He then singled me out not my friend who took one first , and began to lecture me in front of my colleagues and other customers in the store, how samples are at the other end of the store and they are actually given out. I couldn't believe it, if he wanted us to buy more chocolate he should have told us that when we came in. Sorry but I?d rather go all the way to Belgium to spend my money, than go back into that store! Pros: Great chocolate Cons: Terrible customer service more

Terrible Service! 3/8/2005

I purchased 8 Christmas items, but only recieved 6 items. When I asked the store for the additional 2 that I purchased, I was told that the product had been discontinued and no consideration or credit was given. Evidently the owner/operators of this store consider themselves infallible and are unable to give a customer a small credit to address the issue and retain a potentially dedicated customer. If you value a store that will bend over backwards for you and understands the rule in retail that ""the customer is always right"", you may want to go somewhere else. more
