Editorial review from Citysearch 10/16/2012

FAIL! It made me and my bf sick. The food was overpriced and disgusting. I paid 9.50 for a ultimate appetizer that was ultimate crap. They deep fried the whole thing in nasty breading, even the chicken wings and dumplings (really you gotta put breading on a dumpling that is already wrapped?). The szechuan chicken was probably what made us sick. It was instantly bad, you could feel the bacteria creep into your throat cavity as we ate it. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! SAVE YOURSELF and NEVER TRY THIS HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT. Me and my bf are positive people and were trying to mind over matter this whole thing, but he had to call in sick today because of their cat and dog feast...blech. more

Honest Goodness 7/5/2011

We live in the north metro area and always passed by this cafe, not knowing how great this place was on the inside. We were planning on going to the 4th of July festival a block over so we stopped by with our kids to order a simple meal. We were blown away by how good everything tasted and the freshness of the ingredients. We will be back! more

Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. 5/20/2011

Ordered take out, asked for mild entree. After picking it up, I get back to work and open the box, just to find out it's very much spicy. I called them, and all they could tell me was 'order non spicy item next time'. Really? There will be no next time. more

makes this vegetarian happy 8/27/2010

So tasty! 4/26/2010

We noticed the cool sign outside proclaiming ""Chinese Food"" as we walked out of Target so decided to give them a try. Woah! Knocked the socks off our feet. We were warmly greeted and well taken care of. Food was delicious and filling. Recommending this to all my family and friends! Pros: Great food & service rocks! more

Very Unsatisfactory 2/14/2010

I stopped in and ate here 2 days ago and got food poison. Something was not right with the meat. food was not good at all. I will never go here again.. more

I have not Idea how this restaurant got these reviews unless there relatives gave it to them.... chicken extremely chewy my friend got beef and it tasted like it had gone bad..The rice tasted burnt. how you mess up on rice... I dont know..... Dont waste your time... Cons: A waste of your time more

Comfort Food - Chinese Edition 10/19/2009

For my old time, classic Chinese style comfort foods I head to China Cafe. They have pretty much all of my favorite Chinese dishes (sadly no Moo Shu) and the kitchen cooks each dish perfectly each time. Pros: Classic dishes cooked to perfection Cons: Way too many choices more

Yummy yum yum 10/15/2009

Their food is really good and a great value. Subway is next door but who wants to pay the same amount for a cold sub? For under $6 I can get a yummy yum yum hot n fresh meal. Favorites are the Hot & sour soup - spicy enough to cure any cold or flu you have and the lo mein noodles with chicken and extra veg. Throw in a couple of egg rolls and crab rangoons it is paradise Anyways, I'm from back East and it's a family tradition to have Chinese on Christmas. Mind you, I ain't complaining about the food, just wish they were open all the time!! Yeah yeah yeah they got family and probably wanna spend time with them but jus sayin'... Otherwise, give them a try, food is YUMMY. Pros: Cheap specials & yummy food Cons: They close on major holidays more

Delightful Lakewood hot spot 2/5/2009

Over the years I have enjoyed many sensory delights at this little Chinese restaurant. Nothin' fancy but I can always count on having some good food and plenty of leftovers. Don't miss their dumplings, hot and sour soup and fried rice! I <3 the crab wontons too!! Pros: Consistantly good, traditional Chinese cuisine Cons: None known more

Typical Ameri-Chinese 11/26/2006

I just got back from the states after living in China for a year and am desperate to find ""real"" chinese food here. So far, no go. Anyone know of any wicked good authentic Chinese, let me know. Pros: Location, Service Cons: Food more

DESERVES 9+ 9/18/2006

Consistant, traditional, neighborhood food. Nothing fancy, just pleasant and good. Nice variety. Pros: Consistant-cheap-friendly-speaks understandable english Cons: cant see the lake from you're table. more

Good Eats! 9/16/2004

I love this restaurant, the food is so good. I have been working my way down the menu and I haven't had a bad dish. We come here when we want to relax and have a hearty dish. Prices are reasonable and the portions are huge! I save my leftovers for lunch the next day. Try to save room for dessert, the Coconut Ice Cream is the best!! It's creamy and cools your throat after eating a spicy dish. Pros: Good food, Inexpensive, Dessert more

Really, Really Bad 8/29/2004

We ordered dumplings, soups, and two entrees (General Taos Chicken and Mongolian Beef). The dumplings were pretty good, the soups were bland, and the entrees were not even edible. The meat was terribly overcooked and everything was so tasteless. Even the fried rice that came with our entrees was bad. How does this place even stay in business?!?! more

Heaven in Edgewater 6/3/2004

I love Sesame Chicken and I've been going to all the Chinese restaurants in town looking for the BEST Sesame Chicken, China Cafe has it!! It was sweet and had a nice bite to it. My friend had their spicy Vegetables with Garlic Sauce and she claims it's heavenly. I'm going back for more! Pros: Sesame Chicken!, Prices & Portions, Family owned more

Chinese Cuisine at its best! 3/17/2004

We have been going to this traditional Mandarin/Szechuan Chinese cuisine for over ten years and have never had a bad meal. Try their lunch or combo specials which are filling and budget friendly. Homemade Ice Creams are To-Die-For! Fried Tempura Ice Cream, Black Sesame, Lychee, Fresh Ginger, Green Tea and Coconut are some of our favorites. We take ours to-go and enjoy it across the street at Sloan's Lake Park. Pros: Good Food, Budget Friendly, Great Desserts! Cons: Some might think it too homey - but we like it that way. more
