Horrible food. The fried rice was actually white rice with scrambled eggs. It was also used as a filler. I ordered curry chicken what I got was vegetables less and sauce over an extra helping of rice, no meat. I asked for a shrimp roll and got a meat roll. The egg roll was sour and I now have a stomach ache and the hot and sour soup had no meat in it just brought. The lack of meat would have been operable if the food tasted remotely human. No stars. more

My office moved to the RTP area about 6 months ago. We order from here quite often and we have consistently been impressed with the quality of the food and the service. I've ordered over the phone and online. Ordering online works best, but the customer service is beyond compare. We placed a large order for 6 people all on different cards. They had no problem processing each order seperately. There were two mistakes. About half the orders should have had steamed rice but they all came with fried rice and they forgot one of the egg rolls. I called and they brought us TWO egg rolls!! I'm very impressed!!! more

Ordered Mangolian beef with fried rice and a cup of Hot and Sour soup. Soup was ok, although I found a piece of shrimp that didn't belong there. Mangolian beef was massacred. This is officially the worst I have ever had, and I've been to at least 20-30 different Chinese restaurants. Beef was undercooked, and there was not enough of it. 3/4 of the dish consisted of greens that were not properly cooked either. Fried rice was very watery and it was actually closed to steamed rice than to fried rice by both taste and look. Although it was a take-out, I quickly checked out the place while I was there. The place was dirty and very outdated, you could see it straight away. The cheapest possible furniture and interior. I realize this is a quick food place, but you have to have some sense of pride and desire to look good. This is a restaurant, for crying out loud, not a barn. This place truly belongs to Kitchen Nightmares. I wish they get on the show. This is the only Chinese place around my work that I know of. more

My family loves going to China Express! Every new person we bring for the Jan Pong (Korean spicy soup) always ends up going back for more!\r You can get this soup with no spice at all. You can get this soup a little spicy all the way up to so spicy I don't think I have met anyone who can eat it.\r Give them a try. I have never tried anything else, but others in my group have. Their regular Chinese food is more traditional and made from scratch rather than out of jars. It will taste a little different than you are used to, but everyone seemed to like it. more

Kitchen Nightmare 2/27/2012

Going to this place reminded me of Chef Ramsey's experience on Kitchen Nightmares. They served me food that tasted disgusting to the palate. Not only were the spices awful, it was obvious the food was old, especially the chicken. I'm sorry but this place was a waste of time and money. When I called the next day the owner argued with me asking me why I didn't talk to him the day before. When I told him I felt sick and that is why I'm calling today, he said go see a doctor. Great customer service! more

Great noodles and stir fry 5/25/2010

Jan Pong is a delicious noodle soup. Served Chinese or Korean style. Lots of interesting seafood you don't typically see over here. Pros: fast and tasty more

Best handmade noodles 8/3/2009

Jan Pong (with red or white soup) is fantastic - delicious handmade noodles and tons of seafood/meat - easily a quart of soup! I recommend eating it in the restaurant - while they package the noodles/soup separately to go, it's just not the same. Their combinations are very reasonably priced with lots of choices. Their hot & sour soup is also one of my favorites. Even their sweet tea is good and they are very attentive to refills. Pros: Great prices and noodles Cons: Too far from my house! more

Seen its better days but still the best hand made noodles! 3/31/2009

When we first moved to the triangle I was 5 months pregnant and ordered take out Cha Chang Myun every week for a month or two. They beat the Korean restaurants hands down. The owner is Korean and the wife is Chinese - they make the noodles fresh and it makes a world of difference. But my friends who like the less authentic American Chinese find their selections to be of poor quality and flavor. So you have to be choosy. Come here for the authentic and forget the other stuff. I think I'll stick to take out. Maybe a couple of years ago this restaurant looked nice but now it's VERY dusty and almost dirty. The condiment jars need replacing, the silverware is tinny, the bathrooms are scary and everything just seems to have a layer of dust on it. Now, I've eaten at worse places overseas, but here in America I am spoiled and want it to be clean! No matter what though, if you want authentic Cha Chang Myun - get it here and nowhere else. Just close your eyes or order take out. Happy Eating! Pros: Wonderful Cha Chang Myun and noodle soups Cons: Dirty, hot and bad American Chinese food more

5 Times Awesome 8/21/2008

If you were to ever speak the most perfect food order it would sound something like this, ""San Shan Jang Pong, Korean style, 5 times spicy"". This is easily one of my top 5 favorite foods of all time. It is roughly 3lbs of seafood and vegetable soup/stew. The homemade noodles are the best part. This is the true reason Marco Polo went to china and has since been celebrated as a national hero. The vast array of animals included in this soup is staggering and includes the following: chicken, beef, shrimp, squid, scallops and sea cucumber. Toss in some broccoli, cabbage, carrots, garlic and green onions to round out the vegetable quota. And finally the broth, you have the option of ordering - in order of increasing spiciness - mild, medium or hot for the amateurs or levels 1-10 for people whose opinion matters. All of this comes together creating soup perfection. A heads up, level 10 will melt your face off and ruin your colon. I have never been to a wing spot that can even stand in the same room a level 10 Jang Pong. I have level 10 when I want to make a good impression on a date or attend social gathering later that evening. The item authentic items are located on the Chinese portion on the back of the menu. I work with a large group of Chinese people and all concur that the ?real? Chinese food is legit. The American Chinese food is mediocre at best. If you would like to better yourself as a human and become the person that others aspire to be, you?ll need to eat San Shan Jang Pong. Pros: Greatest Soup Ever Cons: American-Chinese food is garbage more

Great place, I wish there was a place like this where my family lives! 4/6/2007

Was in the area on business and stopped by for one of those what to do night dinner, do the usual hotel restaurant that is over priced and many times not so good. Decided to venture out. Asked the hotel staff for recommendations and this place were first on the list. Well located, right in the heart of RTP. Reminded me of the family type restaurants that my family goes to all the time in CA, friendly, very accommodating and outstanding value, and most important great food. What?s interesting about this place is the food is very traditional type, not like many other Chinese restaurants where it?s become the fast food type, fried rice was great, the dishes were individually cooked with correct sauces, not the one type of sauce for all dishes; this is one of the few places that are still the real thing. I wish there was place like this where my family lives in CA. If I'm ever back in town for business or what ever the occasion, this place is on the list for must stop by. Pros: The Food, great value Cons: ` more

Great Food, the Quickest Service 3/10/2007

This is a favorite lunchtime or dinner option, as the food is great, and the service is incredibly fast. Pros: Great Food, Quick Service, Good Prices Cons: None! more

Excellent food 2/13/2007

With so many Chinese restaurants in the area, it is hard to find the best one. China Express is amazing and so far has beat all the local competition. We were seated immediately and service was prompt. For appetizers, the crab rangoon and wings are great. My friend and I, who are always a bit indecisive, asked the waitress about their specialties and she recommended the Jan pong. It was so good with homemade noodles and lots of seafood. Overall, really good food and service. Pros: fast service more

Best Chinese Food Around 2/12/2007

China Express has the best chinese food I've tasted in a long time. Coming from Vancouver, Canada - where the chinese food was exceptional - tasting the food here made me feel like I was getting a taste from back home (yes it is really that good at China Express). My favorite dish would be Jan Pong (hand made noodles in slightly spicy soup with generous portions of seafood and veggies mixed in). It's a must have. If you're looking for an appetizer, the spring rolls and the chicken wings are the best. The wings may look dark/overdone, don't let the look fool you, the are absolutely delicious (crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The service is top of the line, they were very prompt in seating my party and were very attentive.\r \r Pros: great customer service, reasonably priced, prompt seating, food comes quickly more

HORRIBLE 9/20/2006

Our office ordered lunch to be delivered. We were never told of a delivery fee, which would have been fine, but we were not informed of prior. The driver did not know the cost of the items for payment and spoke poor english. The General Tso's chicken over battered and over cooked. The Szechuan Shrimp was not fuly cooked, and was explained that ""was the type of shrimp"". It was clearly uncooked, as it was still blue and grey, yet was told I was wrong. I asked for a refund, and they charged me for the eggroll that had been eaten since the shrimp was uncooked. The woman we spoke to was quite rude and unaccomodating. I will never eat here again. Raw, tasteless food and POOR customer service. I would highly recomment going to one of the other many chinese restuarants in the area. Pros: Convenient Cons: Raw food, POOR customer service more

Great Chinese Delivery! 6/7/2006

China Express has five great things you don't always find in a Chinese place:\r (1) English-speaking people taking your order;\r (2) Accommodating menu (you can substitute soup for rice and veggies for eggroll if you're health-conscious);\r (3) Tasty food that is not super-fried, and REAL chicken;\r (4) $5 combination plates ALL the time (not just at lunch); and\r (5) FAST delivery of the 100% CORRECT order ($1.50 charge) and they even deliver to Woodcroft!\r \r We ordered the combination plates of Cashew Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. I thought they were great; my dinner companion (who always uses extra butter on everything) thought the rice wasn't ""fried"" enough. If you like deep-fried, high-fat chinese food, this place isn't for you. If you like delicious food that doesn't taste like grease, check this place out. \r \r NOTE: I've only ordered via delivery, so I have no idea what the ambiance at the restaurant is like. more

Best handmade Chinese noodles in Triangle 12/25/2005

For over fifteen years, China Express has always been our favorite place to go whenever we are thinking about handmade Chinese noodles. If you are a noodle lover, you have to try their San Shan Jan Pong or San Shan Za Jan Mein. Pros: Good food, inexpensive, good service more
