Living in the Richmond, I basically lived at China Beach through high school. Started in the sand; graduated to the grass; and was finally confirmed space on the deck. Great place to swim, with elementary body surfing. Understand, however, serious shrinkage will occur due to the water temperature. It's nice to see the elimination of reference to James D Phelan State Park. No one ever called it that. more

China beach was the perfect spot for the hottest day of the year last sat. 8/29.\r \r My brother and I bought a Blow-UP boat from the local Big 5 store and headed to sea. not only was the weather great but the food cooked by my girlfriend was perfect too.\r \r The small beach spot is great for BBQ and to lay out.\r It has a great view of the great Golden Gate Bridge to make your camera that much more useful. Pros: small but big enough to get the job done Cons: small waves more
