My rating: NO stars! DONT BUY OR SELL HERE!! What a terrible experience. I had to wait a month for an appointment. I warned them that I had a lot to bring in 2 boxes and a garbage...

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/21/2013

Love the bargains, fond of the owners and staff, and they have been nothing but helpful and pleasant to me and other moms who frequent the shop. And when I've sold items multiple times, they're 100% fair. Unlike other reviewers who have said they brought in garbage bags of clothes, I folded mine, they were clean, and I put matching sets together. ANY retail business, Ann Taylor, GAP, you name it, need to buy acceptable inventory in order to serve their customers. They cannot spend hours sorting though bunched up clothes that the seller has not delivered in an acceptable/clean/manner. Would you buy something bunched up? If you had a business, do you have time to do the laundry and folding of the seller who did not make the effort? No business can do that. The likes of Old Navy, Loft, the retail clothing business buy low and sell high, marking up the price by even 500% and higher, then they post a ""sale"" and make it look like you're getting a bargain. That's how many clothing retail works - they have to pay rent, insurance, salary, etc. \r \r The Children's Orchard, like other retail clothing, needs to buy low to sell higher like all other retail stores. Ignore the reviews that do not even know how retail clothing industry works. Respect goes both ways. Some staff members are older and speak in a loud voice, like many older citizens in our community. Nothing wrong with that. They say ""May I help you"" to me loudly each time I'm at the store, and they've only been trying to help, acknowledge the customer, and be a business.\r Love their bargains!! I'm saving a ton! more

AWFUL experience--DONT put yourself through it 2/23/2012

My rating: NO stars! DONT BUY OR SELL HERE!! What a terrible experience. I had to wait a month for an appointment. I warned them that I had a lot to bring in 2 boxes and a garbage sized bag of clothes. On the website it says that someone will help you bring the items into the store--I was by myself and was struggling carrying in the heavy boxes and NO ONE offered to help (there were 3+ women and 1 man working in the store). The woman opened up a bag of clothes and complained to me that she just can go through all of it-- that I ""needed to really go through it before I bring it in and put all the sets together"". I told her that none of them were sets and then she told me that they expect everything to be folded----it WAS folded?!?! but she just handed the bag back to me. I had some toys in shopping bags that I had tied, they wouldnt even go through them. Out of everyhing I brought they bought 5 toys (they didnt even look through everything and even missed a bunch of LeapFrog and VTech games with batteries and everything). They only paid $1 per item. They were rude and snooty and kept making snickering comments about my items and saying ""I wouldnt even take that"". I will NEVER go back again and would not even purchase an item from them that would support such treatment of people who are supporting their business by selling items so cheaply to them. more

Not worth the time 7/29/2011

I read the reviews here last night, but I had already made an appointment many weeks prior to sell clothing here, so I decided to go ahead anyway. What a waste of time. As soon as I walked in the place, the woman looked at my 5 (small garbage size) bags of clothing and said she didn't have time to sort through all this stuff. I said that when I made my appointment I told them how many bags of clothing I had. I also asked her to tell me how much each individual item would be bought for. She did not like this. She offered me $1 for a $25 pair of GAP shorts, did not want 2 pairs of GAP cargos that were in good shape and offered me $7.50 for a boy's navy blazer (worn once). At this point, I told her not to bother with the rest. Cheaper to donate the items and take the tax deduction. Plus major attitude. The clothing in the store wasn't of high quality, so I am not sure where her attitude was coming from. But, I will never go back there. more

Never again will I shop there. 6/30/2011

They were very rude! The most horrible experience ever! They made me feel like just because I'm not caucasian they had to keep a special eye on me and my daughters. I walked in with my 9 yr old & 16 month old daughters, an older man looked at me up and down asked me in a very rude tone of voice ""can I help you?"" I said ""no thank you I'm just browsing around"". then after not even 5 minutes of browsing an older lady comes up to me and and says ""can I help you?"" and I said ""no thank you I'm just browsing"" and she gives me this funny look and walks away. Then she walks back down to the back of the store and I hear her tell my 9 yr old who's looking in her size ""you can't keep on taking clothes out"". My daughter wasn't even taking clothes out the racks. So that really upsets me so I put whatever I had in my hand back on the racks and tell my daughter lets go. Never again will I shop there! Their prices weren't all that great either. Having to pay anything over $6 for a used item of clothing seems ridiculous to me. more

Overpriced,Limited Selection,Rude 1/22/2010

If anyone here likes to shop at consignment stores for childrens clothing, I wanted to tell you where to avoid. I was at Childrens Orchard in Norwood yesterday and had a very unpleasant experience. As I was looking at some clothing on a rack, my 3 year old pulled a few items off the hangers onto the floor. Before I noticed and even got a chance to pick them up, an older man who I can only assume was the owner started yelling at me from across the room to stop my daughter from doing that as the floor is dirty. After I picked up the items (which I would have done as soon as I noticed it) he just stared us down to make sure my daugher was not doing it again. It was a very unpleasant experience and unusual for someone to behave this way in a used clothing store for infants and children. There are many other wonderful children's consignment stores to shop, namely Zoolittle and The Elephants Trunk in N Attleboro, Keeping Pace in W Cons: Overpriced,Limited Selection,Rude more

Not worth selling to 1/18/2009

I sold a few boxes of clothes and received maybe about a dollar per item in return. What I got did not seem to be in line with the resale policy posted on the company website. In addition, I needed to wait a few hours to get a total and my money. If I ever sold to them again, I would bring a smaller batch of clothes and wait, so the owner could tell me item by item what she was giving me. more

Don't bother wasting your time selling clothes to them! 11/8/2007

I brought clothes to Children's Orchard in Norwood. You have to make an appointment, and bring in up to 2 bags of clothing, sets put together, all freshly laundered. Clothes from BT Kids, Osh Kosh and Gymboree that were worn only once or twice were turned away! They took mostly clothes with tags still on them, and only gave $1-$2 per item. What a waste of time. They will sell them for at least $8 each. Included in the items they took were a winter coat, brand new gymboree overalls--for $2 each. I'd rather give them away for all the trouble. Pros: If you were going to give the clothes away anyway, you walk away w/ more $ than you went in with Cons: Lot of preparation, driving, and hassle more
