The Shakespeare Repertory was only 13 years old when, in an unbelievable coup, it scored this space at Navy Pier. While its productions have occasionally been stilted, they're always very professional.
The interior of the theater is laid out perfectly, in an Elizabethan courtyard-style configuration. With nary a bad seat in the tall yet intimate audience space (except for those far to front along the sides), theatergoers will get their money's worth even from a seat in the highest gallery. The comfortable seats (525 capacity) are a deep green, and the galleries are blond, varnished ashwood mounted into raw, rough brick walls.
