Certainly, there are more authentic, and “exotic” Mexican restaurants than Chi-Chi’s—I’ve eaten at several myself. However, when a craving for something from the burrito/enchilada/taco family strikes---and it often does---the convenience (at least in my area), good quality and friendly service provide a quick fix. And oh, those nacho chips....
Not long ago, Chi-Chi’s began advertising a “new” menu. Being the creature of habit that I am, one question immediately leapt to my mind: did they keep the Twice Grilled BBQ Burrito? Much to my relief, it’s safe and sound on the new menu, and tasty as ever. For those who haven’t had the pleasure yet, it features steak or chicken, cheddar and jack cheeses, tons of tangy BBQ sauce and is served on a sizzling bed of peppers and onions (during my last visit, significantly more onions than peppers). Salsa rice and Chi-Chi’s scrumptious corn cakes top off a very filling meal.
Sometimes you can tell the burritos are microwaved but they still taste great!
