DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. Me, my mother and some friends of mind went here for dinner on Sunday. The waitress was very, very, very rude......for it to be JAMAICIAN FOOD it was not really good. If you want great Jamaican food....go to Caribbean Fiesta in Alpharetta. more

DO NOT EAT at this restaurant 3/31/2011

Me and some co workers went to Chef Rob on lunch in February..... the waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu and appeared tired.....the food was awful....I have never tasted Jamaician food this bad before. I ordered the white meat jerk chicken which tasted like sugar......the color was weak and they included a piece of a chicken back......the rice and peas, didnt have any peas....the food didnt have any season. or spices. .oh course the meal didnt include plantains....I was so disgusted with the food and the price. the portion size was ridiculous.....I dont see how this place stays in business....Chef Rob's get an F in my book......I forgot we ordered the peppered shrimp and they was mushy....Please dont waste your money at this place, go to All Island Cafe on Memorial Dr, you will not be disappointed......... more

Best meal ive had in a long time 12/2/2010

Service was prompt and friendy, it was our first time and the waitress took time to go over specials and house specialties. Me and my fiancee eat out a LOT and this was the best meal that we had in a while. We argued the whole way home about who's food was better. I had the strip steak and she had the cuban lime chicken. both had mashed potatoes, I had collard greens, and she had the plaintains. Jerk Grilled wings for appetizers set it off right. Can't wait to return. Shout out to Mecca! more

Stay away 11/26/2010

I tried the combination jerk chicken and curry chicken, at $13. By effectively ordering ""2"" chicken dishes, I expected to find a little bit of chicken somewhere! There was one small leg, and several tiny, boney, ""knuckles"". There was less than 2 bites of chicken in the entire meal. For the restaurant, this clearly was NOT a culinary choice; it was a budgetary choice. My dessert was key lime pie which was served frozen solid. more

cant wait to go back!! Pros: desserts Cons: got lost more

Caribbean Food in the ATL 6/3/2009

Nice to see a Caribbean restaurant with a twist and yet traditional flavor you love. Nice neighborhood spot and atmosphere. Sweet fried plantains on the menu! Pros: plantains more

Best lemon-pepper wings anywhere on the planet. And the basic j erk (weird censor) chicken plate with the ""slaw"" is fantastic as well. They serve a big appetizer sampler plate which is easily enough to feed two big men and has all kinds of good stuff. And you can get it half-price before 5pm (I think). Pros: Excellent food and atmosphere more

What delightful experience! 1/24/2009

Worth the search, this little GEM had it all. Friendly greeters, smiling waitress, good service and fantastically delicious, beautifully presented starters and entrees. Hot items served and remained hot until the last bite while cold plate items were chilled to perfection. Pros: Service, presentation and flavor Cons: difficult to find, poor signage more

Chef Rob's Caribbean Cuisine - Sandy Springs 10/3/2008

I am new to Atlanta from New York & was a bit hesitant in visiting this restaurant given the venues I've already patronized since moving here to Atlanta. The places I've visited before coming to Chef Rob's Restaurant have to be quite honest left a lot to be desired. The past venues I've visited were actually embarrasing to West Indian cuisine & had terrible customer service. However, a co-worker/friend raved about this place after knowing my West Indian background and mentioned that she wouldn't have mentioned this spot to me if she had ANY reservations about the food & quality of service. So I decided to give it a try. Well needless to say my first visit was with her back in August along with another fellow co-worker who was in Atlanta on business from California. I must say since that day, I have been hooked ever since!! The staff's knowledgeable/nice personalities, wonderful decor, good ambiance and the owner understands the meaning of customer service and lest I not forget the FOOD is to die for. My goodness, this place receives high marks in every category from me. Every other week, I've been back to CRCC because it has served as the perfect spot on a Friday evening to unwind, after a long week. Chef Rob's Caribbean Cuisine would definitely be a stand-out success in an area like Buckhead, w/ out a doubt. The drinks are a plus also, especially $3 Martini nights - Wednesday's. I've indulged in the braised Oxtails, Conch Fritters, Grilled Wings, Fettucine, Collard Greens (there must be a secret ingredient in these greens as they are addictive) and Curry Chicken and have never had a disappointing meal here yet. My husband is now raving about this place! All that I can say is Big Up to CRCC!! Pros: Food, Environment & Customer Service - Staff Cons: Price...But worth every penny spent more

Great Food and Customer Service!!! 9/4/2008

I visited this cafe yesterday and the food was outstanding. I ordered the Braised Beef Ox Tails and they were superb. My guest ordered the chicken which I tasted and they were very good. I can't wait to visit again. The atmosphere and the Caribbean music were perfect and not to mention the service. I really enjoyed being at Rob's. It is now on my list of favorite restaurants. I have been to many Caribbean restaurants and I rate this one tops. Pros: Great Tasting Food, Good Music, Service more

Jerke Chicken Done Right 9/4/2008

This was an excellent dining experience, with warm, friendly and quick service, and wonderful food. The flavors are subtle yet spicey, with careful attention to nuances. I had the jerke chicken, which was roasted to juicey perfection, and served with a sauce to die for. I'm still wondering what gave the red beans and rice such great flavor. This is very different, very homey cooking with a deft chef's touch. Pros: Great food at reasonable price Cons: shopping center parking more

Outstanding Caribbean food. 8/29/2008

Stopped in at Caribbean Cafe after a movie. A beautiful place with bright decorations. I'm big on clean and the cafe is spotless. Welcomed by Chef Rob, stepped in to hear light Jamaican music. Now for the food. Outstanding. I like a little heat so the jerked chicken was fine. My wife likes low heat. She ordered the Cuban lime chicken and loved it! It was perfect, spicy but not overwhelming. I ordered a ceasar jerked chicken salad. The salad dressing was the best I've had for years. Even though the food was wonderful, it was such a large portion, we took home leftovers for lunch the next day. You could not do better than to have lunch or dinner here midweek. On weekends I understand it is very popular. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends. The service matched the food. more

Best Caribbean Food and Atmosphere Around! 8/26/2008

No, I have never written a review before. I am more the word of mouth type as I have done countless times when it comes to Caribbean food from Chef Rob's. I have told countless friends about their tender, plump curry chicken; the oxtails to die for and that ding dang bread pudding with the white chocolate sauce. If you have tried other Caribbean cuisine and felt it lacking, then trust me when I tell you that Rob's is THE place to visit. Pros: Inviting-clean-tropical flavored diningroom, excellent staff, fresh food. Cons: Pricey with all the food I order but, well worth it. more

True Caribbean Atmosphere 8/24/2008

Chef Rob's Caribbean Cafe' came highly recommended by my brother and his wife to be, and I would like to pay it forward. My husband and I went last night and was highly impressed with the ambiance. The live music of steel drums, colorful decor and friendliest of the staff made me feel as if I was on one of the Islands. Each person greeted us with a smile. Chef Rob came and spoke to us and all his guests. The food was wonderful, the Calamari was the best my husband said he ever had. We also enjoyed the Chicken Egg Rolls. I had the Red Snapper and my husband had the 1/2 Roasted Chicken, he already has plans for the Oxtails on our visit. The Mango Lemonade was very good, what can I say about the Sweet Mango Pie mmmmmm....Chef Rob, you have been truly blessed with a gift and we thank you for sharing that gift. You will have us as patrons for life. Pros: Service, Food and Entertainment Cons: Location,a little hard to find in shopping center, but worth it more

Good Ending to a Busy Friday 8/22/2008

My sister and I dined at Chef Rob's this evening after seeing a movie. We were good and hungry and already knew what we wanted to order. She and I had previously done our own research on Chef Rob's place and were impressed with the menu and decor we saw on the cafe's web site. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated promptly. The cafe only had a couple of empty tables remaining after we were seated. The decor was warm and inviting. Two flat screen televisions were turned to sports channels, and reggae music played in the background. I liked the art on the walls. My sister ordered the Chef's Sampler and I ordered the J*rk Chicken and Shrimp Fettucine Pasta, and Coco Bread. We received the bread first. It was warm, delicious, and served with butter. I tore up that Coco Bread, and before I finished it, our meals were served. The presentation on lovely square plates was great. My pasta dish was fabulous--loaded with great flavor and plentiful chunks of chicken and four plump shrimp. My sister and I shared our dishes, and her j*rk eggrolls and j*rk chicken wings were out of this world. The portions were generous. She and I took a cruise to the Bahamas last October and had some conch fritters prepared by the locals. The conch fritters at Chef Rob's were distinctly different in apperance and texture, but still good. The dipping sauces that came with my sister's sampler were marvelous. We each ordered the white chocolate bread pudding to go. We haven't eaten it yet, so I can't rate it. When we finished and walked to my car, Chef Rob was outside and thanked us for dining there. He asked how we liked the food and service, and we told him that the entire experience was lovely--from the atmosphere to the food to the service. We told him how we found out about his place and were encouraged by the several great reviews. I'll definitely return with more family members and friends and get the word out about this wonderful cafe. Good on you, Chef Rob! Pros: Short wait for food more

Best Caribbean In Town 8/20/2008

Recently dined here and I have to say the food was just out right DELICIOUS! I've been to several so called Caribbean restaurants here and they can't even compare on the same level as Chef Rob's. While dining Chef Rob himself came to several of the tables and introduced himself and wanted to know how the service was going. He's not just some cook he graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in New Hyde Park NY for those with any Culinary history knows that isn't just some learn how to be a Chef in 6 weeks school. My overall experience was awesome and would recommend this place over and over again. I read several of the other reviews before posting mine and have to say some people you just can please because they are miserable and not happy with themselves. The food is to die for go for the oxtails and top it off with the bread pudding I promise you won't go wrong. Pros: Ambience more

Take the trip - It's worth it! 6/30/2008

GREAT atmosphere, awesome customer service and the food ""mek yu lick yu finga"". I am a Jamaican who can throw down (can cook) and loves to cook . I can truly say, this is one the BEST Jamaican restaurant in ATL. My favorite dish is the curry goat and secondly the oxtails - I bring along the possie from work at least once a week and no one ever complains - they love, love, love it! Just sitting there (by the way, the decor is to die for) having your meal, watching the flat screen TVs and listening to the Jamaican music in the background makes you feel as if you are actually in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. After a long morning at work - this is the place to come and unwind for lunch! Chef Rob, I am proud of your accomplishment - Nuh watch nuttin! May your cup continuously runneth over with customers to increase your revenue each and every year. more

Chef Rob. . . You're FIRED!!! 6/4/2008

I read reviews on city search, urban spoon, and of course my trusted yelp and I was so excited that I drove 30 min. from Forsyth County just to get some of these oxtails some of my fellow food critics had spoken so highly of. I can't believe how disappointed I was. First of all, my to-go bill was $43.53, which included 2 oxtail plates, a side of plantain, and strawberry lemonade. When I opened my bag at home I opened up a plate of food swimming in orange grease! The oxtails were not seasoned like they were made by a Jamaican at all. My family cooks real Jamaican food and you can taste the Jamaican flavors (scotch bonnet peppers, thyme); this was a nasty Worcestershire sauce and sour vinegar mix at best. Not to mention it was all fat and bones and hardly any meat could be found. AND Braised my foot! Those oxtails have been sitting in a bucket since this morning. My rice and peas were swimming in the orange grease as well so I didn?t even get to eat much of it, but it didn?t really have that hint of coconut milk flavor I was looking for. At least the side of steamed cabbage was decent. Oh and how do you screw up fried plantain?!? You would think they would have the timing down so I wouldn?t be eating half cooked plantains. And maybe let the oil drain once they are taken out of the fryer, Come on guys! Oh and the strawberry lemonade isn?t fresh so don?t be fooled, when I stuck my straw in the bottom of my cup I drew back syrupy cans strawberries. . . can we say YUCK! If you value Jamaican food and know what good Jam food tastes like then you'll listen and save your money. I am so PO'ed, I just had to drop my fork and tell you poor food critics what I thought about you beloved JaFAKIN restaurant!!! If it weren't so darn far from my house I'd take it back and use that greasy orange oil from my food to write my disgust on the store front windows!!! Lucky I have Bible Study tomorrow! And Chef Ron, if you see me in the streets I want my $43.53 back! Pros: side order of steamed cabbage was ok, Cons: PRICE, NOT REALLY JAMAICAN FOOD, FOOD, FOOD! more
