Major Disappointment 9/17/2011

Decided to go here with a group of 13 for a friend's 30th birthday. I made reservations for 6:30 on a Friday night, got there and they did not have a table for us. The manager did not apologize, but was proactive in saying he would get it worked out, so I went with the flow, we got seated at a table for four, and eight of us crowded around it and ordered drinks. It took more than 45 min and FIVE table changes before we had a table that would fit our group. Our waitress was not perfect, but pretty decent. However, our food then proceeded to take over an hour with no info about the wait from our server. I finally went and asked about it, as two of group are pregnant, and she finally came back and said we got stuck behind a group of 30, and there was nothing she could do. By now it was 9pm. Food finally arrived, except for three people's, which took another 20 min, and everyone else was done eating. I was missing salad, and three of us had no silverware we had asked for 3 times, one girl had salad but no dressing. I finally grabbed the manager and told him that this was ridiculous, between our reservation not being ready and the rest of the experience we were completely disappointed. Again no apology and was told that they ""can't do anything with reservations on Friday nights because of the pig roast"" I then asked why they even took our reservation then, and he just said it doesn't matter, what do you want to do here? We ended up with one free round of drinks and a lot of attitude from the manager who then reamed the poor waitress. The food was all mediocre except the pizza which was pretty good. Completely disappointed, will not be going back. They need a new manager!! more

The most ""Cheers"" like bar I've ever been to...with a piano 5/5/2011

I LOVE Charlie Browns. I've been there with friends and family a dozen times since I moved to Denver last summer and it's just about the most fun place I can think of to go. Pianist Patrick Stone is my favorite, and we always try to get a seat at the piano. The service and building could probably be better but I don't's so fun. I've only been there a dozen times and I know many of the staff and the regulars by name. The Pizza is awesome and the wine pours are huge. more

This place is great! 3/28/2011

I met a friend from college that I hadn't seen in 15 years here and I have to dispute the bad reviews that are posted here. The food was excellent, the service was prompt, the prices are reasonable and they never got irritated with the table that lingered for 5 hours talking and drinking beers. You do need to watch where you park but it is just a matter of reading the parking signs before you leave your car...would highly recommend if you are looking for a neighborhood place to just hang out and enjoy some time with friends!!! more

Won't go there again!!! 2/12/2011

I just moved to Denver from NY and had been to this restaurant a few times, but I had always taxied or been given a ride. I once decided to drive and i parked my car along the side of the building, back facing a hotel. Well, I ended up meeting a fine looking gal who I went home with and left my car. The want a be fake cop on the premises towed my car!!!!!! After spending over $100 there, and even bragged about how comfy this place is.....THEY TOW MY CAR, citing I was not registered????? WTF!!!! Thank goodness Governor's Park Bar & Grill is just three blocks south on Logan Street at 7th. A MUCH better place and you don't have to worry about getting your car towed away!!!!!! more

Not for karaoke 12/5/2010

The service sucked and the seating arrangement didn't make any sense. The tables were almost touching each other and you were stuck between your table and the tables around you. You couldn't move because you were stuck. The karaoke DJ was the worst DJ that I have ever seen. We saw the same people get up and sing 2 & 3 songs. But he never put the new comers in. So if he knows you and every person that the DJ knows puts in 5 songs when they get there, the new people coming in don't get a chance in hell to sing. Most DJ's will put in new singers in the rotation between old singers. I was pretty upset the first time, but thought maybe it was a fluke, or maybe he lost our song request slips... So I tired it again a month later. Nope it's not a fluke. The DJ suck!!! There are too many other places to go for karaoke. Since we only came for karaoke, we will not be spending our time or money at a place where the DJ is obviously so full of himself, because he has his little groupie and is completely inconsiderate to the other patron. more

Love this old haunted hotel 6/17/2010

I just moved back too the Denver Area after living in California for a few years and was so happy to finally be back in some of my favorite old haunts. I love this bar and came here every Sunday to hear a beautiful girl sing. All I remember about her is her name was Joy and she used to sing Midnight Train To Georgia. Better than Gladys. Has anyone seen this woman? I believe she was a hair stylist who worked in Cherry Creek. She was a beaut and an incredible singer. Except after a few too many which she always had but after a few too many she was a freakin riot!!! I would really love to track her down cept I dont knoow her last name oh yea this bar is cool but without Joy it is just a bar... Pros: great crowd Cons: Joy is gone.... more

Worst Service in Denver 6/14/2010

The service was horrible I would never think about going to Charlie Browns again. I can't believe they allow their staff to treat customers in that way. The deserve way lower than a one star rating but that's the lowest I am allowed. Cons: Worst dining experience in my life. more

Yep its good 3/30/2010

I live half a block away from CB's. So I occasionally go there. I am very impressed with the vast amount of choices on the menu, you can get everything from mexican, to greek, to pizza, to a good steak. And it always pleases my stomach. However about half the times I have been there I have been unfortunate enough to end up in this waitress section (kinda bigger, blond, very anna nicole smith looking) who is always with out a doubt rude to me and my fellow dinners. I myself work in the service industry and know that some nights it's not so easy to be bubbly and sweet to everyone, but there is a level of courtesy that must be maintained. She never smiles always acts annoyed when I order water, will disappear for long amounts of time, and simply makes me regret my choice of dinning there every time . The rest of the staff has always been great with the exception of her. If you get sat in her section request another server. Pros: Great food, wide variety Cons: Avoid blond waitress! She is AWFUL and rude! more

Ate there on 3/27/2010 3/28/2010

My wife and I ate here finally as have lived for 4 years a few blocks away. We dined inside in late afternoon. The service was very prompt. The quality and quantity was good. I was told chef had been there for 17 years. The Gyro sandwich was excellent, one of best I had had. My wife had a scrimp and calamari with noodles dish was also excellent. I read most of reviews and complaints. For us everything was fine. We typically eat out twice a week and will return. Pros: service, location for us, food, decor Cons: for us none although parking may be an issue if you drive more

I lived near Charlie Brown's for over two years, and I have to say it is the most overrated bar in Denver. The food is terrible; greasy, no flavor, and over salted. Most of the people who frequent this bar are loud-obnoxious suburbanites, who woke up one day and realized that they were on the downside of middle-aged and decided it was time to relive their early twenties. They will drink themselves stupid, walk out of the bar into a densely populated neighborhood, and start screaming and hooting as if no one else in the world matters. Of coarse the management doesn?t care, they continue to let their annoying clientele stand outside of their establishment and make as much noise as possible well after 2am. ?Support good neighbors, don?t go to Charlie Brown?s- Pros: NOTHING Cons: rude people, bad food, management does not care more

Good for both lunch and happy hour 7/19/2009

I have been to Charlie Brown's both for lunch and happy hour with co-workers. The food is good, although service can be slow at lunch. Never had an attitude problem with the staff. Happy hour is two-fers for your first round and there is almost always free food. We just went last Friday for happy hour and they were roasting a pig on the patio (it was delicious and free!) and the place was packed. The ambience is a little rundown, but comfortable. I will return. Pros: comfortable atmosphere, good food Cons: could use some updating more

decent 8/30/2008

Place is a throwback piano bar, grill, neighborhood haunt in an old classic of what used to be a sort of beat hotel. The food is decent and pretty basic bar and grill style stuff. Seems a bit like an old smokey lounge in Chicago or New York. more

Favorite Hangout 5/10/2008

I am a Charlie Browns lover. It is my favorite place in Denver to go and chill after work, grab dinner on a Friday night, or have Sunday breakfast (Mexican skillet is the best!) I like all the staff, food, drinks, ambiance, everything. The happy hour with free snacks on Friday is a nice bonus as well. If you want a spot to hang out and just kick back this is the place. Pros: Food, drinks, happy hour, breakfast on the weekends more

Avoid at all costs 4/20/2008

I moved to the neighborhood about 2 months ago and have been to Charlie Browns on several occasions. While the place is clean, the staff needs an attitude adjustment. I agree with the previous poster about that brunette bimbo. She is nothing short of rude and nasty. The place is clean, I will give it that and the food is absolutely horrible. I would not recommend this place at all. Pros: The place is clean, ample parking in back Cons: The Staff and Prices more

Mixed opinions 4/2/2008

I went to Charlie Brown's last night for my birthday, after a friend of mine had suggested we go. Neither one of us had been here before. I reviewed the City Search reviews before going, and taking the poorer reviews with a grain of salt, we decided to still go. The manager and the bartender were both very nice. The happy hour specials were great (2 for 1), and they treat their b-day guests really well. The one thing I didn't like, was our waitress. She gave us good service, but had an attitude the whole time. One of my friends and I tried joking around with her to get her to lighten up, as everyone can have a bad day, but it didn't help. She seemed quite put out by us. On a separate note, the jalape?o poppers were excellent! I'm usually not the biggest fan, but they were very good. They used a red jalape?o pepper, and the cream cheese had a little something in the flavor that I couldn't peg. When you ask for fajita chicken nachos, they actually give you a very generous portion of chicken. The whole restaurant seems kind of old, dark and dreary, but at the same time still has some character that you get with older architecture. Because of the attitude, I wouldn't be too inclined to go back. Had the attitude of our waitress been good, I would have rated Charlie Brown's better. Pros: Nice & cute female bartender, nice manager and good food. Cons: Service with an attitude from our waitress. more

Avoid the afternoon Bartender 7/14/2007

Friends I work with highly recommended Charlie Brown's as a great after work place. It should stay that way as long as you work swings. I went in a couple weeks ago when I moved into the neighborhood. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon. The skinny almost anorexic brunette bimbo who waited on me needed a serious attitude adjustment and a lesson in customer service. I sat at the bar almost 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. There were only three other customers in the restaurant at the time. Hoping to get a bite to eat I never got to see a menu until after I finished my beer. After asking twice for a menu she was seriously annoyed to have to tear herself away from some 25 year old she was fawning all over. I looked over the menu while sipping on a second beer ( I was suprised she was able to serve) I waited and waited and finally finished my beer. She came over and in a sarcastic tone asked me, ""Well do ya want something?"". I stated obviously not I certainly wasn't going to put her out by ordering. I left never will I return and I have let my friends know of my experience. If they return I hope they do only at night. Pros: Clean Cons: The Female Bartender more

Great Service, Great Specials, Great Food 2/15/2007

I hate to be a hypeman but you have to give credit where credit is due. Going to Charlie Browns is always refreshing (literally). The menu has variety, and so far everything I have tried has me coming back for more(My fav's Souvlaki, and the Prime Rib). The drink specials are on par, and the atmosphere is inviting. Pros: Satisfying Food, real time v.s. bartime (nightcap)!!!!!! more

Wow, this place is terrible!! 7/29/2006

The management is absolutely terrible. The little low-class manager actually threw a knife at my back while I was in the bathroom. I think that pretty much says it all. I had to file a police report to complain. The food is not good at all and the drink specials only include well drinks. There are plenty of great bars in Denver avoid this one at all costs! Cons: Staff more

Awesome! 1/20/2006

This bar is the place to go!! It has a great atmosphere and great service! Their food is awesome and their drinks are great! they have good happy hours and a great patio! more

My old alternate living room 3/14/2005
