The Charleston Crab House is the best place ever! The snow crab legs, and a lot more stuff that's good!!\r Who ever you are reading this you need to go there! If you have a kid that doesn't like seafood and you CRAVE for seafood this is the place for you even if nobody likes seafood! For the kids like me we LOVE the mac and cheese and grilled cheese but essapilly the mac and cheese!! Go there if your trying to find a place in Charleston the historical. Pros: AWSOME Cons: FAVORITES!!!! more

We found this restaurant by chance while searching for seafood out of the historic dist. Great location!!! Seated immediately by the water. Those were the only pluses. The ambiance did not match the prices, the staff was at best dismissive at worst rude. The food is seriously overpriced. The portions are incredibly small - five shrimp for $19. The service was ok. Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time and we had to be helped by another member of waitstaff. We were lucky, she literally ignored the couple next to us who were dropping a lot of money to celebrate an anniversary. The food was not great. after spending the weekend sailing, we went to the Charleston Crab House on our way out of town hoping for a good seafood meal. Let me just list the problems:\r \r -we started with a dozen raw oyesters which were ""sketchy"" to say the least. we didnt even eat 3 of them. those we did eat tasted gamey. sure it is november but we asked the waitress who said they were ""great right now""\r \r -my salad was disgusting. you know how old lettuce gets? the best pieces were wilted and the worst pieces were slimey. i had to build a pile of the bad lettuce on my salad plate to get it out of the way.\r \r -we had the she-crab soup which, while not gross like everything else had been, really just didnt have any flavor; like something you woudl buy in a can.\r \r -for entrees, im usually a push-over for shrimp and grits. i've prolly ordered this at 20-30 charleston restaurants and this was by far the worst. the shrimp were slimy as if they had been cooked hours before and left sitting. i ate around most of the shrimp.\r \r The rest of the entrees were uninspired. Just not worth the prices at all.\r \r The ONLY thing this place has going for it is a great location and good hush puppies. Everything else was just gross.\r \r One of my group commented ""we should have just gone to mcdonalds and been just as satisfied for 1/5 the price"". more

Our family LOVES this restaurant!! We have been to Kiawah many different times and have never been disappointed when we have eaten there. We were last there June 2006. My son (who loves grilled cheese) said it was the best he has ever had anywhere!! OK I know, how was the seafood?? The three family members who had seafood entrees loved all their choices. The service was great, friendly and casual. The view to the water and bridge was great. The portions were huge, the side dishes were plentiful. We will be back this summer I promise! more

We were extremely disappointed. We ordered two 1-lb platters of clab legs and recieved only 2 clusters on each platter. These were snow crab legs, not king crab legs. We also ordered lump crab and shrimp pasta. The pasta had 5 small shrimp buried in the pasta and no sign of crab at all. The floors in the restaurant were filthy and the kitchen had water standing on the floor which the wait staff tracked throughout the restaurant. Our waitress had to be reminded 3 times to refill our glasses. We have taken this off our list of restuarants to visit in Charleston. more
