Great Fresh Malasadas in town 10/14/2005

Champion Malasadas is one of the best stores that you can get the fresh made malasadas in Waikiki area. I like the fact that they will make malasadas when you order only. so, your malasadas will fry fresh right then. it tastes better when it's hot... don't you think? If you don't like plain malasadas, they also have cream malasadas and chocolate malasadas for you too. Other than Malasadas, Champion has pastries (chinese style) as well. Ohh, they also have a good deal for breakfast. Champion Malasadas also get an award for its famous malasadas in the competition in 2004 (if my guess was right).... Overall , thier malasadas are very good! price is very reasonable too! Enjoy! more

the other great malasada 8/18/2005

It's debatable whether the malasadas here are better than Leonards or not...I can't say I prefer one over the other because there isn't that much of a difference. They tend to be a tad fresher here as they seem to make it only when someone orders it and it does seem to be crispier on the outside and more cooked inside. That being said, you will have to wait a bit after you order. Besides the malasadas, they have great hot cross buns filled with candied cherries and raisins and nicely glazed. Their mini chiffon cakes in various flavors are good (orange is the best) as well but sometimes have an odd dry texture. more
