Better than the rest 4/17/2012

First of all, I would like to start off with the fact that I bought Prism TV to fully take advantage of the television I paid way too much for. Am I happy with what it does for the TV? ABSOLUTELY! Prism boasts a Blue Ray quality picture and that is exactly what I am getting now in my house. Thanks for that. However, while the picture quality and convenience of a whole home dvr deserves 5 stars, I can't stand giving a company with bad customer service a perfect score. I understand that some phone reps are good, and some are aweful, so it is what it is. I haven't been happy with Dish, Directv, or Cox customer service either, but at least now I am getting the TV picture and channel lineup I LOVE to watch. more

Don't Bother 2/27/2012

If you live in 89074 find another internet provider. Essentially ""high speed"" dsl service. Drops out DAILY, takes 3 days to get a service call. I have had all the types of internet service over the years and Centurylink is by far the worst and it's 2012??? Their marketing is great ...don't fall for it. VERIZON WHERE ARE YOU??? more

PRISM A BIG WASTE OF TIME ! ! 2/4/2012

I signed up for Prism. Picture was great! The signal feed CRASHED after 6 days, because it is a telephone company first (with union repair men) it took 32 hours to get a repair guy to my house.... that sucks when you want to watch TV. It was repaired and 10 days later it crashed again. It was THREE DAYS (3) before a repair man came to my house and explained they were having problems at their switching station, ""sending new technology through antiquated equipment"". The reason I tried Prism was my DISH TV signal would fade out during a rain storm. Dish TV signal loss for a maximum of 20 to 30 minutes OR Prism signal loss for three days? DUH! I cancelled Prism and went back to DISH TV! more

Don't be fooled by Century Link's false advertisement! 9/17/2011

I wish there was a way to leave no stars, but I'll give one so I can write the post. I could live with the slower-than-Cox internet, the tv that randomly shuts off, and the phone that has needed to be reset twice in the last three months, but what I am extremely upset about is that Century Link lied about the cost, refuses to honor the promotional pricing, and included several add-ons after I got the service. I signed up for a package that costs 92.99/month. When I got my first bill, it was very high, but they explained that that was due to a prorated month. My second bill was lower, so I didn't think anything of it. My fourth bill was almost 140! That's a far cry from the 92.99 I was promised. Now they are telling me I didn't have that promotion on my account!!! Liars! What recourse do I have? I've sent in a complaint to the FCC, we'll see if anything comes of it. Everyone out there who's had problems, please do the same! more

Horrible once centurylink acquired Embarq !!!! 6/17/2011

The day Centurylink acquired Embarq was the day that our Internet service started being capped. The service would simply turn off at the same time every day. You call them and they tell you to rebooth the modem and it starts to work again for that day. Next day same thing and you call them and they tell you to reboot. The service is constantly cutting in and out. The want you to pay $100 per month, but they don't want to send a repair person to your house of send a replacment modem until you threaten to cancel service. They WANT to string you along just enough that they don't have to give you much Internet bandwidth, but you will still send them a check every month. You call them and they will be perfectly nice, but NOTHING ever gets solved and like I said a in person service call or new modem is always out of the question. They will tell you....""why don't we unplug all of the equipment and reboot after 5 minutes?"" EVERYTIME !!!! I don't have time for that nonsense. They are crooks. more

Lousy customer service/web site 5/2/2011

I've been with Sprint and now CenturyLink for over 10 years and only started having problems with them when CL took over. I changed my auto-pay account in November before my billing came out. In December, they didn't draft either the new account nor the old one, adding a late charge. After emails and phone calls, they did take off the late charge, but said it took up to 6 weeks to get the change in place. SO, even though my bill said, ""auto-pay"" and the website said,""auto-pay"", the bill wasn't paid. In March, I tried, 2 weeks ahead of scheduled payment, to cancel an auto-pay as the account was being closed. Emails, calls, I was told it could not be changed. 2 weeks! Then, the payment was again not drafted the next month. The response I received to my email was in TERRIBLE English! I am currently looking for another phone company that is more professional in customer service and their IT department. (And they want to sell me internet service? HA!) more

Century-Link Prism Service 12/26/2010

Just got Prism-HD on Tuesday Dec.21st along with the phone and 10meg dsl bundle. I had the 10 meg service already so that is part of my complaint. First off it's now Sunday. I have only 1 working TV out of 3. 1 of the others pixelates so bad it's unwatchable, the other has now deteriorated to a black screen. The 3rd working tv has moments of pixelation and lag. Also my internet connection which was a very steady 10.2 meg has now dropped to 9.5meg at it's best down to 8.5 at it's worse. We also have to use their new Cisco DDR2200 router which seems not to like to issue IP's to wireless connections. I have had tech's come out on Wednesday , they could not help the TV situation or get the wireless part of the router to work. You can connect with a cat5 cable but not wireless. This is the case with either of my other 2 DSKTOPS, or their laptop. Tech said must be bad router. Have 2nd router which was dropped off at door on Thursday with note not to change any settings in the router. Still no internet via wireless. Both pc's say access pt. found, but cannot access the internet. Other than changing SSID and Password on computers, no settings were changed. I can't hook up any of my old stuff to test them because of the bonding done to the phone lines. My recommendation, at this moment, stay with Satellite and Century-Links DSL only service.. Prism doesn't appear to be ready for primetime. more

DO NOT GET PRISM TV SERVICE 9/23/2010

It all started when we visited the century link store on Sunset/Marks the woman (Ivy) who sold us PRISM TV service told us the install would be 2 hours outside the home and 10 min inside and that was a lie! Actually the install was 5 hours inside the home with an incompetent tech sweating all over our furniture. The service itself is fair, TV is missing some channels and HD that all competitors carry. The claimed 10Mbps internet is really between 4-6Mbps with spikes to 8. Tuesday the cable-box suffered catastrophic failure when calling they said it would be the next morning for repair, Well they never showed up and it has been 48 hours without service we have talked to more than 15 different people, been transferred nearly 50 times, and been lied to 11 times still no repair and no answer as to when. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE i HAVE EVER HAD!!!! more

Expensive Long Distance 8/18/2008

If anyone uses this service. Beware of how they switch your long distance. I requested the unlimited long distance for $15.00 per month. They never added it on and then put on there most expensive plan. I called and they said they would take care of it. They did not and still today when I looked once again it's still not changed. I went online to see what is the best home service to use and lo and behold I see other blogs that this has happened to them. Beware of this company. I'm changing my service today and it will not be Embarq. more
