healing hands! 4/5/2007

I had very painful shin splints due to too much jumping in ballet class, and then it started to hurt even when I merely walked down the street. So I went to Central Park Physical Therapy, and they totally fixed me! The owner, Rik, has magic hands. He knew exactly how to massage the messed up muscles around my shins, and the pain went away for good. I was so relieved! I developed this injury from ballet, but I have heard that runners and skiers are also prone to this type of injury, so I would highly recommend CPPT not only to dancers, but also to athletes and people who do sports or work out. Pros: clean & upscale decor, very friendly staff, central location more

I felt better instantly! 3/1/2007

Before my first session at Central Park, I did not expect to feel a difference the first time. I was so wrong! Paul is the best! He took time out to show me exercises I could do at home. When I needed a last minute appointment, he even saw me during his lunch hour. Also, I liked that I was not given any false promises. If you want someone who knows their stuff, Paul is your man. Pros: Paul all the way! more

Most effective, multifaceted physical therapy I've seen or had! 2/28/2007

I started at Central Park Physical Therapy in August 2006 to address, once and for all, a troublesome lower back. Surgery for a ruptured disk was necessary in 1993 -- that was very successful, but my back has remained ""cranky"" ever since. After working with CPPT -- first twice a week, then once a week, and now every other week -- my back is great: consistently free of pain and stiffness, and strong enough to withstand the challenges of yoga vinyasas! Some other trouble spots (e.g. hamstrings, hip flexors) also have been addressed successfully in the process.\r \r CPPT is truly multi-faceted in its treatment: massage, manipulation, stretching, heat -- drawing on the Feldenkrais method, among others. Then there are the exercises -- some to do in CPPT's lovely, spacious studio, others to do at home. Therapists and staff keep an eye on ""exercisers"" and are helpful with positive correction when necessary. They make sure exercises are helpful and change the routine to help fight boredom. Front desk staff, and the therapists and assistants in the studio, are all attentive, competent, and cheerful, in my experience. \r \r My two previous experiences with physical therapy, elsewhere and earlier, were not negative. CPPT stands out, though, in the variety of techniques brought to bear, and the hands-on time staff give. The bottom line: This has worked SO well for me! I've praised CPPT to my internist and to friends and colleagues. I am pleased to recommend CPPT to CitySearch readers. more

Would Recomend..... 2/27/2007

I have been going to Central Park Physical Therapy several times a week for the past year for scoliosis treatment! \r I find the front desk staff be most helpful and pleasant when I arrive. I am always greeted with a smile and a warm hello, which makes me feel welcome. \r Brendon and Paul Ryan have taken excellent care of me during this time and have created an exercise routine in which I have seen a definite improvement with my condition. Ric has a wonderful caring & knowledgeable staff working for him!\r I have recommended Central Park Physical Therapy to my friends & co-workers and have never heard any negative feedback from them!!!\r \r In reading these ""few"" comments I believe that some people are just miserable and negative and try to pass that feeling on to others! \r \r Experience it and form your own opinion :) more

Best physical therapsits 1/29/2007

The front desk staff are not that smart and efficient, but they are friendly. While the owner may be overbearing the other staff Physical therapists are excellent. What matters to me is the treatment I get from the PT and not the rest f the experience. Its a great big space, and nicely done and the PT I saw was intelligent, confident, personal, and helped me get back on my feet. He also always fit me in and stayed late to make sure I got treated. As long as you can get past the front desks immaturity and not see the annoying owner, I think this is one of the best PT places around. Highly recommend it! Pros: gym area, equipment, PT's Cons: front desk more
