I visited the Central Park Zoo for the first time this weekend! Also it's small compared to The Bronx Zoo, it features a lot of animals. The center of the space features seals and you can watch them be fed 3 times a day. The rain forest room was the best. It's a huge two story greenhouse where birds are just allowed to fly free. All kinds of tropical plants surround you and it's a nice 80 something degrees in there. It even "rains" every so often. There is a "temperate zone" featuring monkeys that were very cute, and an "arctic zone" that had penguins, puffins and polar bears. All the animals seemed active, but I just couldn't help wondering if they had big enough cages/environments. The polar bears seemed a little sad, but how could I really tell? The only disappointment was the red panda - he was no where to be found in his bamboo trees. It really only takes an hour or so to go around and it's designed for children. Normal adult admission is $8, but I know they do free weekends every once in a while so check it out!
