  • The Center for Martial Arts is not only a martial arts industry leader, but also an innovator in the world of human development. Formerly United Tang Soo Do Karate, The Center for Martial Arts was established in 1993 as Master Mark W. Pattison had been guiding students of all ages in San Diego's Coastal Communities (Sea World's Employee Program, Fairbanks Country Day, Solana Santa Fe, Ada Harris and Cardiff Elementary Schools) since 1989 and needed a more formal location for their continued training. Upon opening, students traveled from as far South as Chula Vista and as far North as Temecula as Master Pattison added classes for The Gifted Preschool and a PE program for The Grauer School.

As Master Pattison expanded, he also furthered his studies in Child Psychology and Human Development due to a large influx in individuals with varying mental and physical differences. He has educated students, ages 4 to 74, working with ADD, ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular D ystrophy, Russell Silver Syndrome, Amputation and more.

Master Pattison also developed an Instructor's Training Program that not only passes along the knowledge he has learned along the way, but is also a unique forum where new concepts and interpretation are discussed and practiced. Currently the Center for Martial Arts, with Master Pattison, 9 highly trained Instructors and Assistant Instructors, offers over 40 classes weekly and teaches after school programs.
