Beautiful 11/14/2005

This is a beautiful park. It is very well located off a main highway. It has the cutest ducks that you can feed and the children just love that. It has some old aircraft parked out there, which is great for pictures. There is a lot of room to have picnics, share quiet moments and more. I Love it! more

Not just the Parthenon 9/26/2005

Centennial Park is in the middle of Nashville, on busy West End Avenue, so I think people overlook it as a peaceful place to hang out. But it's a beautiful park; it's big enough that you can get away from the traffic noise and there are lots of tree-lined areas where you can picnic. The Parthenon makes a gorgeous backdrop to park activities. If you forget to bring your picnic meal, there are lots of restaurants close to the park to choose from. And don't miss the free Shakespeare In The Park productions each summer; they are well worth a viewing. more

Shakespeare in the Park (Romeo? Where are you?) 8/18/2005

It's fun, cultured and something to do beside the regular movie and dinner. Oh and it's FREE! Yea! Local actors put on a couple weeks of one of Shakespeare's plays. It's in the Centennial Park, but there is a little stage area where it takes place, so you can see the play and they have a speaker system so you can hear the actors. So take your friends, your boyfriend, your dog, your mom or go solo. But be prepared to enjoy a little sun and fun. You can check the Nashville Scene or browse the web to see a little more information. Enjoy! more

Full Scale Replica 8/17/2005

The world's only full scale 100% size replica of the parthenon of Athens is located in the heart of Centennial Park, along with a great walking path and a nice little bond. There are great fields for throwing a party (must reserve through parks dept) or for throwing a frisbee. During the summer the park hosts movies every couple of weeks at night and it's a great community event and it's free! The park can also be a nice setting for a romantic event with a beautiful flower garder on the west side of the park and at night the Parthenon is lit up and stands tall and mighty. If you are driving down West End in Nashville it's worth at least five minutes to pull into the park and check out the Parthenon, if not spend the $5 of $10 and take the tour inside the building. more
