Everything said below except for one unhappy person in general. The ambiance is great the food so fresh and natural good and the Hot Chocolate best ever .Very european and seems so real not at all staged. Great people watching and they have a lovely little store upstairs with many items one of a kind from all over the world. JUST LOVE IT HERE ! Pros: great feeling and great simple food Cons: the parking and can get very crowded on weekends more

Wonderful 10/18/2008

This place is really a great find, stepping into the doors of Casbah you feel like you are transported to a little Moroccan oasis in the heart of Silverlake. The cafe itself is decorated with a mix of French and Moroccan decor, very Casablanca-like. There is always interesting music playing, and this place has amazing salads and coffee and a nice little store upstairs selling Moroccan items. more

Tea and Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, YUM 12/22/2007

Amazing tea's, great dessert's. Food is a little pricey. Nice place to escape the hussel and bussel. Beautiful decor and if you can afford it lovely finds in their store. Pros: Great food. Great Ambience. Cons: A little pricey. more

Amazing Little Parisian Cafe 9/21/2007

I went to this place on a whim one day, and have become a regular ever since. The workers are sweet, everything on the menu is amazing, their coffee is the best I've had in LA, and the place is lovely. Things can be high priced, ($9 salad?) but it's definitely all in the quality. I've heard those dishes are amazing but I just can't afford them. The less pricey items are still great: ""pizza,"" bagels (with tons of cream cheese and tomatoes), brioche (my favorite!). You can definitely have a great cafe experience for less than $10. Pros: Great quality food, affordable, good service, best coffee around!! Cons: Some pricey items--better not to go for lunch more

best cafe in L.A -- the best anywhere really 5/1/2007

This is the best cafe in Los Angeles. I come here all the time and so I really can say I love it. The teas are great no where inL.A can you find as diverse amounts of tea ,From Mate in a traditional gourd to Puerh tea and the great standbye of Darjeeling. I love the food many salads, pita sandwhiches little tostados apricots and dates you cannot find these things in Peets coffee etc. The place is beautiful, fresh flowers lovely music . . really no where like it in L>A great bagels, salmonplates and yogurt with fresh fruit more

We love this cafe My husband and I and our friends love coming to this cafe We feel transported from Los Angeles, The best time is early morning the coffee we like very much and the teas are the best part . Iced mint tea, ice mate but my favorite the hot teas. When there was nothing in the nieghborhood they were offering a real cafe. Pros: decoration, genuine feel, healthy food great teas Cons: parking difficult, weekends crowded more

Next thing ya know, they'll start charging for oxygen. 11/28/2006

I used to stop in to Casbah on my way to work downtown and would generally grimace at the high cost of merely a shot of espresso, but do to the fact that I like to support local business as opposed to other commercial coffee companies, I would stop here instead. I stopped in today off the beaten path and got three shots of espresso over ice and they charged me $.50 for ice, not to mention the $4.00 for just the espresso and the fact that I brought my own mug (as I always do to cut down on the waste that is caused by the daily use of coffee cups) and was NOT given the $.10 back I know it costs any company to buy coffee cups. I have traveled all over the world and have never spent more than the equivalent of $3.00 on even four shots of espresso, even on high quality beans...which leaves me feeling a little perplexed and dismayed. If I knew that they were purchasing shade grown fair trade beans, maybe I wouldn't feel so confused...but alas...I will sit and sip my bitter $4.50 espresso in my own mug with what must be really great frozen water. Thanks Casbah...I'll be sure to take my business elsewhere. Situations like these make it hard for those of us trying to be responsible consumers to justify not going to Starbucks. Pros: Food is generally good. Cons: Prices are unjustifiable for the type if place it is. more

Good Drinks-Worst Customer Service 11/5/2006

Ok the lady with the long brown hair is cool, but the rest of the staff is unfriendly and rude. The prices are outrageous. The clerk told me for a piece of pie it was $8.50 a slice, for cherry pie. She was really upset when I was like are you serious, for one slice? Even Susina Bakery doesn't charge that much and they are a much more upscale bakery. The she rudely asked me to sit down while I was right next to a table, implying if I did not I should just leave. Not a bright idea to place white linens you want to sell right next to a table. If I was sitting down I could still have an accident and get it all over the merchandise. Overpriced and too trendy. About 4 years ago this place was a quaint cafe, now its trendy and stuck-up. The attitude they have is we don't need you, you need us. That is the worst type of customer service, its so arrogant. I wonder if the owner has any idea how the clerks are treating the customers. I will never go back and will consequently never bring any of my friends there ever again. Be nice to your customers or you might not have so many walking thru your door! Pros: Only one nice clerk there Cons: Not worth the prices at all more

Coffee & Moroccan goods 5/17/2002

Order from the coffee bar at this French-inspired bistro and let some of the other treats perched upon the counter inspire you. I don't know of another spot in L.A. where a platter of plump, fresh dates is presented so enticingly, with such an earthy, Euro flair. Imported Moroccan clothing and dishes are for sale in the back. Pros: Boutique-bistro vibe Cons: Small more
