I just ""graduated"" from this practice today and will be moving on to a regular OB. I am so sad to leave, because I have never received such excellence in medical care as I did at Carolina Conceptions. Everyone I dealt with at the front desk was warm, encouraging, and all around thrilled for us when I became pregnant. All the nurses were helpful and knowledgeable about every part of the process. The financial department is great as well. Dr. Meyer was my primary Dr. and he was wonderful. He moved fast to get me pregnant. He personally called and emailed me various times during the process and he was always reachable immediately. I saw Dr. Park and Dr. Couchman for various procedures and they are also awesome. We did IVF with embryo biopsy and got pregnant on the first attempt. Highly recommend this practice! more

They really do make dreams come true! The minute we walked in the front door of Carolina Conceptions, I knew we had picked the right place. As time went on, our experience only solidified that. Starting with the front desk staff, everyone shows great compassion, always has a smile and truly are their patients' biggest cheerleaders. Our main doctor was Dr. Park and I cannot praise him enough for his thoroughness and knowledge. He always spoke his opinion and was honest with us, but also was aware of our wishes and listened. Infertility is not an easy journey and having a doctor that truly seemed to care and understand made all of the difference. I am happy to say we are now pregnant, entering into our second trimester, officially 'graduated' from Carolina Conceptions and so, so happy! Some special appreciation to Steven at the front desk, Megan in finance, Michele in IVF, Thanks to Dr. Park for checking in at times just to see if we were doing okay and to see if we had any questions and for sucessfully performing two surgeries on me to remove uterine polyps. Thanks to Dr Meyer for re-opening the office back up after they had closed on New Year's Eve to give me an ultrasound when I showed up 9 weeks pregnant and scared after having some unexplained symptoms. That's dedication to the job! \r \r You walk in as a patient but you leave as part of the family. This staff remembers you, knows your name and you matter to them! I know this is true because I've actually bumped into Dr. Park around town and he knew my name - first and last, and knew exactly how far along in my pregnancy I was! \r \r Highly recommended!! more

My husband and I are the proud parents of a two year old girl thanks to Carolina Conceptions. I started the fertility process with my OBGYN, and I have to say, it wasn't until I was seen at Carolina Conceptions that I really felt like I was in knowledgeable hands. I appreciated the fact that all of the providers (Drs. Meyer, Park, and Couchman) as well as the nursing staff were able to balance efficiency with compassion. I was really impressed by how organized Carolina Conceptions was in terms of my care and scheduling and billing. I did not have one hiccup in the process. The one thing that really stood out to me was how ACCESSIBLE the doctors at Carolina Conceptions are. Not many providers are willing to communicate via email (for lots of reasons) and this made it so easy to have questions answered. I wound up referring a few friends to Carolina Conceptions, and in particular, to Dr. Park, and he even answered one of my friends' emails while on vacation! When I had appointments, I often heard the staff bragging about Dr. Park in terms of how he handled his patients, one staff member told me that if she was having fertility problems, she would see him. I mainly saw Dr. Couchman during my treatment at Carolina Conceptions, but Dr. Meyer performed my egg retrieval and I saw him a few times for appointments as well. more

I have to say how very disappointed I am in the services I have received so far. I was referred to Carolina Conceptions by my Ob/Gyn since I was having trouble getting pregnant with my 2nd child and I was suffering from severe pelvic pain. My first visit was with Dr. John Park in which I told my whole medical history. He showed no empathy and immediately suggested I have and HSG and then surgery. Of course this was scary to me and I had a lot of questions. It was thought that I probably have endometriosis. At first I wasn't sure about the laparoscopy but after some thought and discussion with family (who is also I the medical field), I thought this was my course of action, especially if I wanted to reduce my pan and get pregnant. Still feeling like I didn't receive all the education I needed or the feeling that Dr. park wasn't really looking at my other conditions (I have Hashimotos disease), I did some research via the Internet. I felt more informed this way, than being informed by Dr. Park. I the had to speak to the Financial coordinator who was a total flake. She informed me that I will have to pay about $1000 for my laparoscopy. She also was trying to educate me on deductibles that I have to meet. however, I have a insurance plan that doesn't have deductibles. When I heard this, I was taken back. Of course because of the cost but also because I felt this was wrong. At this point I just wanted to leave. As soon as I got home, I called my insurance company and they advised me that the financial coordinator is wrong and all I would need to pay is $40. What an idiot! I then had an HSG scheduled in which they did find abnormalities (scar tissue and a blocked tube). At this point, we all knew I had to go in for the surgery. My hope is to reduce the pain I have been living with, which could also be causing fertility issues. I had it scheduled and then went in for m preop, after I had explained to him that I have still been in horrible pain and had asked for more education on the procedure and what I should expect afterwards(like how soon I can try to get pregnant), he told me that he didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery anymore and that it is probably all in my head. I was enraged! I had already made plans for my mother to come visit and care for me and my son while I was recovering - she is traveling from Boston. Instead he said that he wants me to see someone else at the UNC department of OB/GYN pelvic specialists, in which they do not have appointments until 2 mos out. Really! There was no help to try to get me an early appt and he basically just passed the buck. After all this, I reached out to another Fertility clinic, UNC Fertility with assistance of a referral I received from a family member. When I spoke to them, they got me an appt within a weeks time. What a difference. And then I also told them what had happened with Dr. John Park at Carolina Conceptions. She actually told me that they frequently get patients from their who have said how insensitive Dr. park is and that Carolina Conceptions is just looking to put you on fertility drugs and make money. They have no consideration for the feelings and emotions of what these women are going through and never take the time to get the full medical history of you. I suggest finding someone other than Carolina Conceptions and actually going to UNC Fertility. I will never step foot in CC again! more

We are so thankful for the wonderful doctors and staff at Carolina Conceptions. After researching and interviewing numerous fertility clinics, my partner and I knew that Carolina Conceptions was the right place to help us start our family. Dr. Couchman gave us honest answers about the most viable options for success, and walked us through each step. Along the way, we also had a few visits with Dr. Meyer and Dr. Park. Everyone was very friendly and informative, always taking time to answer all of our questions. Today, we are the proud parents of a beautiful and vivacious toddler. Words can not express the gratitude for our little blessing and miracle. Thank you Dr. Couchman and Carolina Conceptions. You hold a special place in our hearts! more

Carolina Conceptions was one of the best decisions I have ever made. From the moment I walked through the door I felt welcomed and wanted. Everyone always has a smile and treated me like we were long lost friends. I have never been in an office where the entire staff was as happy and friendly as they are. Thanks to them, I am now carrying my first child. This is a dream come true. I had given up all hope and almost accepted I just was not meant to have a child. My first appointment was with Dr. Meyer. I left the office that day full of hope. He was so confident and knew what he was talking about. We worked out a plan to start and now it worked. Anyone needing a little assistance, I would strongly recommend you give them a call. BEST doctors and staff ever! more

After several failed IUIs and a couple of failed IVF cycles at another area clinic, we transferred care feeling like we were running out of hope. Our experience at Carolina Conceptions was like night and day compared to the old clinic. Dr. Park created a unique protocol tailored to my needs, and we are now patiently awaiting the arrival of our baby girl in October.\r \r Carolina Conceptions really felt like a place of hope. Not only are the physicians extremely skilled at their craft, but everyone from the front desk staff, to the financial counselors, to the nurses, CNAs, and embryologists are rooting for you. There is such a sense of teamwork and community in the office and you receive nothing but the most compassionate care. Staff is available by email (including physicians) and calls and emails were always returned promptly. We could not be more grateful to Dr. Park and everyone at Carolina Conceptions for helping us build a family. more

We had a great experience with Carolina Conceptions. We are 3 months pregnant as a result of our 1st IVF. Dr. Meyer was our main Dr. but we also met with Dr. Couchman and Dr. Park several times. They all are nice and very professional. I felt like my IVF medication was being monitored closely, so I felt safe and confident that it would be effective. Dr. Meyer always answered my emails quickly whenever I had questions or concerns. The staff there are very friendly and sincere, especially Keesha. Her smile and kindness just made this tough procedure a little bit easier for me. Overall, we had a great experience and we can't say thank you enough to everyone there for helping us. We had been trying for years and went to several places. I'm glad we came here. We highly recommend Carolina Conceptions. more

Love Dr Meyer! I was a patient at Carolina Conceptions for over a year and a half, having much luck with getting pregnant and bad luck staying pregnant. Dr Meyer was my main Dr and he was always very thorough, paid attention to detail, and was funny and easy to feel comfortable with. After all of my losses he was attentive and made us feel like he genuinely cared. I never felt pressured into any procedure, protocol, or to take any certain medicines. I had multiple appts with him, multiple IUIs, 2 HSGs and 1 surgery while I was under his care and everything always went smoothly, on time, professionally, and I was always taken very good care of. I was very annoying and asked a lot of questions and emailed him all the time and the fact that he didn't throw me out the window shows how patient he is. He always responded right away to my emails, even at night, on weekends and when he was on vacation. I also had a positive experience with the other Drs, nurses and staff. I had flawless experience with finance, and never had an issue scheduling, rescheduling, wrong appointments or getting a call back from the front desk staff. I am now 5 1/2 months pregnant and my road has not been easy but I am thankful that I had people like Dr Meyer to help me along the way. My only complaint about CC is that they don't offer OB care! I will definitely go straight back to Dr Meyer for any of my future fertility needs. more

I had a horrible experience with Carolina Conceptions from the beginning. On 3 occasions I would show up for an appointment and they would have no record of it. I, once had to wait 3 hours to see a doctor because they accidentily canceled my appointment. Dr. Meyers was my doctor. Initially he performed no tests on me as I already had a child. After 2 months of timed intercourse, one IUI that he performed, and 2 consultations in his office he suggested an HSG. As he walked into the examination room to perform the HSG, he asked if we had met before. I could not believe it! The HSG was unsuccessful and I then needed surgery. During one month of monitoring I went 4 times only to be told at the end that I had too many eggs and to stop treatment. During my last month I scheduled an IUI. When my husband and I went, the nurse brought me back to the HSG room after stating that my husband could not come because they were in a rush and started preparations for an HSG. She had no idea why I was there which is unbelievable to me. Dr. Meyer did come in and ask me why I was here!! I will never go back there again and I won't recommend this place to anyone else. Even had I become pregnant, the lack of attention to detail shown by the doctor, nurse, and even front desk staff was more than I can bear given the amount of money we were spending. more

He also responds to emails very quickly and answers all your questions. Carolina Conceptions was there for us threw ought our journey and made our little miracle possible. more

I am 38 years old and after trying for 6/11/2012

I am 38 years old and after trying for over a year to conceive baby number 2, my OB/GYN referred me to Carolina Conceptions. I met with Dr Park and told him what my husband and I were willing to try and what we could afford. He came up with a plan that we all agreed on and sent me off to see the girl in financial. I am fortunate that my insurance company covered most of the cost and with a little planning and my flexible spending account, we were able to afford it. I saw all three physicians throughout my time there, but mostly just saw the nurses and front desk help. The ladies up front knew me by name and were very tolerant when I brought in my active 2 year old. The nurses, especially Kim, we're extremely friendly and supportive. I always got a straight forward answer to my questions and a response within a few hours of calling. On my last visit, I got congratulations and good luck from all the girls up front. Dr Couchman confirmed my pregnancy via ultrasound and told me to call with any further questions or concerns as she released me to my OB. I would recommend Carolina Conceptions to anyone who is having trouble staring their family. I may even use them again if we get crazy enough to try for baby number 3! more

HSG 4/20/2012

My OB/Gyn referred me to Carolina Conceptions for further testing as we are having trouble getting pregnant with our second child. We had a consultation with Dr. Meyer. He is very personable, extremely knowledgable and straight forward. Which I appreciate. He recommended an HSG. This test had been discussed when I was trying to conceive my first child but I got pregnant before I had it. Needless to say, I was very nervous after reading reviews online about this test. I am writing this review to assure everyone that there is nothing to be afraid of. Dr. Meyer prescribed me ultram to take 1 hour before the procedure and I also took 600mg of motrin. Dr. Couchman performed the HSG and I didnt feel a thing. Honestly, a pap smear was more uncomfortable. She explained step by step what she was doing and you are able to watch on the monitor as the dye pushes through and highlights your tubes and uterus. It was a very neat experience. Everyone at Carolina Conceptions, from the front desk, to the physicians, have been wonderful. I highly recommend them to anyone who is having trouble starting or growing their family. more

I came to Carolina Conceptions... 4/9/2012

I came to Carolina Conceptions because another fertility program suggested after one IVF cycle that my husband and I needed to do eggdonation. Carolina Conceptions put me on DHEA, CoQ 10 vitamin and flared myovaries with mini doses of lupron. For one week I even used a testosteronepatch. I produced many more eggs and got pregnant with my first attempt at CarolinaConceptions. I even had embryos to freeze. The doctors seem to know the newest ideas in the field and the nurses are the most gracious in explaining everything. Don?t hesitate if you have problems and don?t give up until you go to Carolina Conceptions Sal more

Wanting to make a buck! 3/13/2012

After going to them for a year and not having any luck becuase of certain protocols, I transferred to another Doctors office. Since then I have been trying to tie up lose ends like get my money back for prepaying for services, no one returns my calls, no one gives me any information. They want to charge you for every little thing, and they do not work with you. Customer service is HORRIBLE!!!!! It's just another business wanting to make a buck! there is no personal service, there is no concern, just want to fill their pockets. more

Couldn't ask for a better appt! 2/28/2012

At 28 years old me and my DH have been trying to concieve for 4 years with a few set backs including blocked tubes:( I had surgery to repair tubes in 2010 and unfortunately it did not correct them. So after a year of trying medicated cycles and an IUI we decided to seek further help @ Carolina Conceptions. My infertility doctor where I live refers people to this clinic and we are so blessed he did! We were fortunate to meet with Dr. Park who was very personable and made us feel very comfortable. He took one look at my HSG and said that both tubes were dilated which is translated to hydrosalpinges. I knew I had one tube that was dilated, but we were told both were which led Dr. Park to tell me that before we proceed with IVF those tubes have to be taken out due to the toxic fluid which spills out into the pelvic area causing it to be an unsuitable enviroment for a baby. We were thrilled to hear some confirming information on why we couldn't concieve. I always trusted the Lord, but medically speaking their was 0 % chance of concieving. So we were told that after I have surgery to remove tubes we would be perfect candidates for IVF. Very exciting news. I might add that every ? we had Dr. Park answered them the best he could. The staff was amazing and took great care of us. We had an awesome experience at CC and can't wait to start our IVF journey in a few months. Thank you CC!! God Bless all of you! more

Carolina Conceptions wasted 6 months of my life 1/30/2012

At 36, I tried for over a year to conceive. Without any luck, I went to Carolina Conceptions. I enjoyed my experience at first. I went through three months of ""timed intercourse"" and taking fertility drugs to increase our chances of conceiving. But after six ultrasounds (all performed by the nurse twice a month) and HSG (performed by doctor), I still wasn't pregnant. I decided to get a second opinion before I tried IVF (which they suggested we try next). During my first ultrasound at the other fertility clinic, several fibroids were discovered. Why did Carolina Conceptions not see this obvious ""road block""? Why did they continue giving me fertility drugs? I spent over $2,000 out of pocket! IVF would not have worked and I would have spent thousands more trying it. I suggest always getting a second opinion and not settling with the first advice given to you. I also suggest you insist on having the doctor present during the ultrasounds. Know that HSG is a dye that sits on top of possible problems and a better procedure is to use saline (for clearer results). more

Great Experience - Highly Recommend Them! 11/12/2011

At 36, I had been single for many years and had no prospects of a relationship on the horizon. I decided that I wanted to try to have a child while my body was still able. I started the process at one fertility clinic in the Durham area and did not have a great experience. The staff were all very nice but I only saw my doctor during the consultation and never again. I only saw residents and nurses after that who were all very nice but I had no continuity of care. When I tried to schedule an appoint with my doctor to discuss all my failed insemination attempts, I could only get an appoint 5 weeks out or had to pay $140 out of pocket to have a 30 minute phone consultation. I decided to switch to Carolina Conceptions on the recommendation of 2 friends who experienced the same frustration that I had. Carolina Conceptions was the complete opposite experience. My doctor (Dr. John Park) was accessible via e-mail for questions whenever I had concerns. He even responded to my e-mails when he was on vacation! I could schedule time to talk to him within a reasonable time period. The staff was all very nice, supportive, and had positive attitudes. They were flexible with my hectic travel schedule. My doctor at Carolina Conceptions also discovered a uterine polyp that was missed at my other doctor. After it was removed, I immediately became pregnant the next month. I recommend Carolina Conceptions to any single or coupled woman who is trying to conceive. It is a great practice. I had a great experience. If I decide to try again on my own, I will definitely go back to Carolina Conceptions! more

Making Dreams Come True 11/9/2011

We went to Carolina Conceptions in late summer-early fall of 2010 for our initial consultation on recommendation from friends. We met with Dr. Meyer and instantly loved him. At that consultation, we decided the best route for us would be IVF. My husband and I began our first IVF round in November. I began the injections November 1 and on December first we had our first positive pregnancy test! The care and compassion shown to us by not only Dr. Meyer, Dr. Couchman, and Dr. Parks, but by the entire staff is amazing. Every step of this process the entire staff and doctors at Carolina Conceptions felt like family to us. I was actually sad to leave them and look forward to being a patient in the future when we are ready for our family to grow again. Dr. Meyer is an amazing doctor. My husband would send an email at night so Dr. Meyer would get it in the morning... Dr. Meyer would instantly respond! In fact, Dr. Meyer emailed my husband on November 30, 2010 to see how I was doing. I of course was extremely anxious waiting to see if the IVF took for us. Dr. Meyer had said to take a pregnancy test in the morning (which was before I was due for my blood work). It was positive. 3 blood tests and one ultrasound later, our pregnancy was confirmed. We had implanted 2 embroys on day 5 and had success with our first IVF round! We were so blessed and happy. Dr. Park had performed the confirming ultrasound at 6 weeks (which showed triplets), and Dr. Meyer came to see us at checkout and congratulate us on the pregnancy as well as refer us to a perinatologist. Dr. Park had mentioned spontaneous reduction, which happened in our case, however we have a beautiful, healthy and happy three month old daughter now. I am sure it is not an easy thing to do - look at a couple who is overjoyed about their growing family and tell them it may not remain that way. The doctors at Carolina Conceptions have a gifted way of telling patients what they need to know, even the hard part, in a personable way. I felt Dr. Park wasn't telling us what could go wrong to be a downer, but to be honest. We left knowing the risks but also knowing the doctors genuinely care about us as their patients. Carolina Conceptions made our dreams of becoming parents a reality and every moment we look at our daughter, we know how blessed we are and that it wouldn't be possible without them. We would definitely recommend Carolina Conceptions and will use them in the future when we are ready for our family to grow again. more

Very happy with the people and the process! 11/4/2011

We had our first consultation at Carolina Conceptions in July and found out we were pregnant in early October. From the front office staff, to the nurses, doctors, and even the billing department, we were greeted with friendly, sensitive professionals. All the information was explained to us fully up front, and we felt comfortable with the process the whole way through. We worked mostly with Dr. Couchman, who was very straight-forward and knowledgeable. We especially appreciated her follow-up calls after procedures. We also had the great pleasure of working with Dr. Park on a couple of occasions. We loved Dr. Park who was very sensitive and thorough. In addition, the nurses were extremely helpful. Soon after finding out I was pregnant, I had some worrisome symptoms and called the nurses' line. Within minutes, I received a call back assuring me that everything was okay. That kind of response is much appreciated by a newly pregnant woman! Once I got a positive home pregnancy test, I appreciated their close follow through of two blood tests to confirm, and then two ultrasounds over the next few weeks. From there, they quickly sent all of my records to my OB and expressed their excitement about our pregnancy. We were very pleased with the process and the people at Carolina Conceptions. I feel they're doing great things there! more
