If this is what you like, then he is the dentist for you.\r First you hang around in the waiting room then you wait again in the dentist chair. When he finally sits beside you, he will make some small talk, and then you will feel the pain of the needle piercing through your lips, gums, and the roof of your mouth as he injects you with the local anesthesia without rubbing any topical anesthetic gel (only $7/jar retail…and he can’t even put a dab on a cotton swab before injection).\r Next, after injecting you with the local anesthesia, he vanishes to micromanage his staff and reappears 30 minutes later. Obviously, halfway through the procedure, you will feel the excruciating pain. You complain and he defiantly gives you another painful injection. Now during the procedure, he will manhandle your head like a Rubik’s cube. See the pattern here.\r By the way, I almost forgot about his fees. His fees might be reasonable for your standards but he will not tell you about other sensible options; he will make the decision for you. He will sell you that shiny Mercedes Benz on the showroom floor but if you don’t ask about alternatives, he will not tell you about that new Toyota he’s hiding in the back lot.\r Let’s recap. First you wait, next you will suffer the pain, and then he’ll manhandle your head while he micromanages his staff. On the way out, please leave your life savings on the front desk. \r By the way, he also forgot to take a cast of my teeth before working on it, so when the bridge arrives, it doesn’t bite properly and he tells that it’s suppose to be that way. \r Ouch…I ignored the earlier warnings. I’m so sorry I doubted you.\r more

Staff is rude, rude and rude. When I finally said I wanted to ask Dr. Luban a question and If I couldn't I would be changing dentists, the instant reply was ""that's fine with him"". Ha! more

Dr. Luban - worse than nothing. 12/27/2011

STAY AWAY!!!1 12/20/2011

I brought my daughter to Dr. Luban. He charged me additional/tooth for a sealant after doing her exam and cleaning. In less than one year the sealants had come off completely and my daughter had developed 4 cavities at the places where sealant was placed. I went to another dentist for cleaning and he did the examination and told me about the cavities and sealant missing. I called Dr. Luban;s office, but he refused to even call back or take any responsibility for the inappropriate sealant placement that came out in less than a year. His office staff said that 'he is finished' and will not see us at all, let alone see the cavities or the missing sealant. I am going to call the licensing board and file a formal complaint. In the mean time, I highly recommend to stay away from his office. more

The only dentist I will go to again 1/17/2011

I normally don't enjoy a trip to the dentist. Between holding my mouth open for someone to poke around in for 30 minutes and feeling sore the entire day afterward, that was my least favorite activity every 6 months. Dr. Luban's hygienists are experienced and very welcoming. I am usually out of the office within 30 minutes. I was able to get my girlfriend in for an appointment after her previous dentist told her she needed over $2500 worth of dental work. Dr. Luban explained to her that this list of work she brought from the other dental office was mostly not needed, and that her teeth were in excellent condition, except for one broken tooth in the back of her mouth. $600 and one crown later, her mouth is fine. Great dentists are hard to come by, and they don't get much better than this. more

For those who hate dentists, there's hope :D 1/16/2011

Went to Dr. Luban's office and it was great! I had an excellent cleaning- when I asked to see my teeth afterwards the lady used a camera in my mouth to show me all my teeth! It was awesome. :) \r I loved how high-tech everything seemed - the monitor in my room seemed HUGE! - but the staff were really friendly and I didn't feel as nervous as I usually do before going to the dentist. The lady at the front - Andi? - was really nice and seemed to really care about the patients that were there. \r I only needed one filling replaced, so I don't know about the rest of their fees but, for replacing my filling, the fee was very reasonable. AND PAINLESS!!! (Haha later tested filling at Oggi's - literally across the parking lot)\r \r Dr. Luban all the way! :D more

Great Dentist 1/11/2011

A few years ago I had a really bad experience at the dentist. I had a crown put on and it hurt every day since. Come to find out that the previous dentist has put it on wrong … thanks to Dr Luban I am finally pain free after years…. Thanks Dr Luban, you’ve earned a patient for life. more

Best dentist ever!!!!! 1/8/2011

I wanted a dentist who would be experienced, professional, on-time, and who does not reschedule, does not suggest unnecessary work and treats me like a patient, not a cash cow. Since I moved to San Diego I went through 4 dentists, none of whom made me comfortable. When I was referred to Dr. Luban, I got absolutely lucky. He is an amazing dentist. He's extremely thorough and what’s most important is he's honest and not out to set you up for a robbery! The best part is he has a screen right in front of you with x-rays of your teeth, explaining in complete detail exactly what he sees and what he is thinking as a Dentist! Highly recommended more
