Car X on Nacogdoches Rd. Took in 1997 Ford Ranger to fix clutch. Car had to be hauled in. Husband (age 82) had previously had them do some work on his car. After diagnostic they quoted him a price of $1,288 repairs related to cluth repair: pressure plate, turning fly wheel, clutch throw out bearing, transmission, labor. I told him I thought that was too much and I would need to get another price from someone else. He made some adjustments with a total of $1,000 drive out price. I told him I wanted the parts as well. We do not know if this is a fair price or not but I do intend on checking out the prices of the parts he used and will also write to someone who is knowledgeable about auto repairs. So I'll keep you posted. If I find out that he has grossly overcharged us, they will not only lose our business (2 cars) but those of the rest of my family and several of my friends, plus I will certainly be blogging about this on several sites.
