Clicking through to the website shows an announcement that CapuVino has closed ""due to the downturn in the economy"". Another one bites the dust. more

Lots of friendly neighborhood people 4/16/2008

\r This is a great example of great concept, but poor execution. The coffee is great, and the wine selection is good for a reasonably priced by the glass sampling (nothing high-end). The bar is understaffed and cranky sometimes. I have left because it is taking too long to get served. Most nights, no issues - just a cozy spot for coffee and dessert. Pros: Most nights - a perfect nightcap Cons: Some nights - understaffed by high schoolers without motivation more

Friendly spot for coffee, cocktails, snack or meal 4/4/2008

I love this place! Order a coffee without having to learn Starbuck-speak, pick one from the menu or create your own - they won't sneer at you for a special order - and whatever you order, it'll be yummy. Choose a decadent baked good treat, or go for the healthy granola parfait. Many crepe options, and they're made right before your eyes. Hard to resist the turkey/bacon panini at lunchtime! Decent wine list, full bar, fun martinis, and a really nice appetizer menu to go with it. Oh! and they have Happy Hour bargains too....and live music...and wine tastings (fun and informative - they don't expect you to be a wine expert already).....and new art on the walls every month...and a patio. Which is all great stuff, but what keeps me (and many others) coming back is the customer service. They know me by name, they care how my day is going, they make whatever weird special order I come up with, and they're genuinely friendly. Check it out - morning, noon, evening - it's all good! Pros: yummy drinks & eats, friendly service, actually invite customer input Cons: parking (welcome to Denver) more

NEVER AGAIN... 9/21/2007

My wife and I chose to eat at CapuVino for some Friday night dessert and coffee. We had passed by it several times on our way to and from Washington Park. Unfortunately, this was our first and last visit to CapuVino for several reasons. First, the service was terrible. After standing at the front counter for what seemed like an ETERNITY , we finally got a lackluster greeting from a SNOOTY waitress who seemed annoyed by the fact that we had come into a wine, coffee, and dessert shop to get some WINE, DESSERT, and COFFEE. Secondly, the place was very unsanitary. There were DIRTY DISHES within eyeshot of the ordering area, CRUMBS on the counter, and the waitress actually picked up our dessert with her BARE HANDS!! Yuck... Lastly, the place had all the character of a DORMITORY LOBBY. I would not recommend CapuVino. Unfortunately, the best part was the sign out front. more

Yucky - DON'T GO THERE!!! 9/21/2007

I went there with my fiance at 7pm on a Friday night for dessert...and it made our night take a turn for the worst! \r When we walked in, the place was dead, and still it was 5 minutes before either of the ladies behind the counter helped us. The dessert selection was VERY slim pickings...and the unfriendly young woman behind the counter said that they were ""running low"" on their desserts. WHY WERE THEY ""RUNNING LOW"" ON DESSERTS AT 7pm ON A FRIDAY NIGHT?? When I did as the menu instructed and asked what desserts they had, the woman simply pointed to the display case. Not only was the service extremely slow and not friendly, but while I was waiting at the counter I had the opportunity to stare at the piles of dirty dishes and discarded food piled up behind the counter. Yuck! I also had the opportunity to watch the woman pull one of our brownies from the display case, and one of our brownies from the microwave .....NOT CLASSY!! For a place that advertises that they serve coffee, wine and dessert, you would think the would actually have more desserts. The cake slices in the display case were tipped over....the entire food area was messy, dirty and gross.\r And to top it all off, she handled our food with HER BARE HANDS...working right around the dirty dishes. \r GROSS!! I feel physically ill..... DON'T GO THERE!!!! Don't let the attractive sign and location fool you....I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!! Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE Cons: service, cleanliness, selection more

the Best Happy Hour in TOWN !!! 8/17/2006

this is the best thing that has happened to bonnie brae. I didn't know about it before, but now that I do, I'm definitely taking advantage! They have my fav New Belgium beers for 2.50 a pint and 10 different selections of wine for only 3 bucks a glass! Everyone knows about it's good coffee, but I think this is an up and coming place for the evening.\r ""Viva Capuvino~!"" Pros: excellent wine tastings Cons: none go see for your self more

Snooty Service 8/1/2006

I'm a nursing student who has been studying at CapuVino about once a week for several months now. Sometimes I order a sandwitch for dinner and sometimes I just drink coffee or have a glass of wine. Tonight my classmate and I were informed by the owner that we can no longer use the ""big tables"" (tables that seat three people) during the ""dinner rush."" I was completely shocked by his audacity! I looked around and saw that half of the supposed coffee shop (CAPUvino) was empty, and only one couple was eating dinner. I had no idea CapuVino was a snooty restaurant where I had to ring up a large tab and tip extravagantly in order to elicit a smile and ""hello"" from the owner or baristas, let alone be allowed to sit inside with being harassed. I guess it's back to Starbucks to continue my $100 + per month coffee habit where I may be supporting the evil coffee monopoly, but at least my business isn't an imposition to the company. more

Capuvino the revival 7/31/2006

For those of you who have only negative things to say. ""GET A LIFE this place ROCKS! \r They have a selection of wines that you can't get anywhere else. Lets not for get their chocolates made exclusively for them. You really need to try them! The food is awesome and best of all it doesnt break the bank. They have a great menu! Free internet and a good vibe rounds off the experience. Its a wonderful place! \r VIVA CAPUVINO! Pros: the location Cons: none to think of more

identity crisis 6/19/2005

What is it? a coffee bar or wine bar? It sure seems like a WHINE bar since they changed their name from a failed franchise. Their coffee is not very good, and their wine selection is mediocre at best. I was talking to a wine distributor friend who tried to elevate their listings. He said that until more people start coming in at night they wont spend the $$. (that makes half sense, Gotta spend $$ to make $$) They are bringing in local musicians and I guess thats his big marketing plan.... I would suggest doing something better than the competition. Right now they do several things half as well as anyone. FOCUS. Pros: nice neighborhood more
