Not bad. Some things on the buffet that I liked and others I didn't care for. I don't know if it's worth the price, though...a bit much. more

Great seafood and reasonable on prices 10/2/2010

Captain George's is a great place for a seafood buffet. They have all the seafood you can eat and at a reasonable price. They must have had a bad day for the food to be bad. I have always enjoyed the food there and recommend anyone to check it out if in Va. Beach. more

Captain George's food poor quality & taste- Save your money! 8/8/2010

I heard that Captain George's was the best on the East Coast from the tourist advisor at 19th Street in Va. Beach. I was excited to try it. I tried most of the foods and, other than the steamed crab claws, cornbread, and clam chowder, which were just okay, the food was mediocre. more

Major Disappointment 7/8/2010

For the price my family was expecting quality food. It turned out to be a major disappointment. It reminded us of very expensive cafeteria food. There was certainly quantity, but was lacking quality. Pros: Good waitress Cons: Quantity vs. Quality more

capt. georges restaurant 6/12/2010

overall it is a good seafood place to eat at. I would recommend everyone to at lease go there 1 time, if not more. Pros: they have a nice large varity of food to choose from Cons: seating is not good when croweded and some what pricey more

Best Seafood at the Beach 5/28/2010

We had a terrific experience at this restaurant. I have live in this Tidewater area all my life and never had a great seafood experience like I did here. All of the food was excellent. Our waitress was great too. She was very polite, on point, and made the dining experience terrific. Best time at this place. You have to go and check it out. Pros: Great seafood of all kinds Cons: There were none more

Excellent Seafood! 3/22/2010

I had the pleasure of dining at Captain's George Seafood restaurant on Saturday, March 13th. It was my first time going to Virginia Beach and my first time visiting Captain's George Seafood. We arrived at about 4:00 pm and the parking lot had plenty of cars in it, which turned out to be a great sign. The food is excellent, fresh, very tasty and very good to say the least. We started offf with the salad bar which stretches for days. Then we moved on to sample almost everything on the bar from the crab imperial which was my favorite, to the prime rib, to the aspargus. Moved on to the snow crab legs which were not overly cooked and sweet. Excelent restaurant and can't wait to go back. Even plan on having my birthday party there in June. Highly recommend. Pros: Best All U Can Eat Buffett more

Best Damn Seafood Restaurant Bar None 7/9/2009

Do you ever notice that there are people who would complain if you gave them a Cadillac, they would ask why you didnt give them a Rolls Royce? I have eaten at just about every seafood restaurant you can imagine. This one is by far the tops! Just wish I could have two stomachs when I go there. Try to open one near Maryland. We lost our Chesapeake Bay Seafood Houses years ago. more

Greatest Seafood Buffet 4/23/2009

Come down to VA Beach every year with daughter for a Convention. Heard about this from others at Convention who go to George's every year on Thurs. eve. We decided to try it and boy are we hooked. Everything looks and taste very fresh! No one will go leaving hungry! Everything from soups, salads, pasta, bread, seafood galore and desserts. Plus wine & beer and other alcoholic beverages avail. Of course non alcoholic avail. too! Looking forward to my next trip. In fact going to Williamsburg in May and doing a SIDE TRIP down to VA Beach to eat! Keep up the great job!!! Pros: Everything is so fresh Cons: Didn't find any! more

Don't waste your money! 1/31/2009

Don't go there...You are now warned again...the food was horrible and the price was high. The server was friendly and prompt...he was the only thing positive about our trip to this restaurant.... more

need more sugarfree desserts on a regular basis 5/12/2008

I talked so much about Capt. George to my friend that he finally took me there the day after mothers day. He enjoyed it to the utmost that he wants to go again. My thing is I am a diabetic and I would like dessert after my meal also. The waiter said that they only get on order of sugarfree cheese cake and it was gone that day. It is just Monday. Please If you guys read any of this please think of atleast one dessert that is sugarfree that will be on the menu regularly. The waiter was wonderful. Where is the lobster? Other wise it was ok to me but great to him. Pros: If you are a seafood lover. Cons: No sugarfree items to choose from and expensive more

It's okay, nothing to brag about 3/28/2008

When in Williamsburg I use to stop here all the time. If seafood is good I will pay the price. Last trip (early March) it was not worth going there to eat. I'm sadden to think that they have given up such a wonderful restaurant that they use to be. :( more

Outstanding! 3/2/2008

Listen, to each is herhis own. But if you didn't thoroughly enjoy yourself, you probably weren't at Capt. George's. We left the joint ""hi fiven"". In fact the next time I go (which is this spring), I'm considering bringing a wheel chair. Flat out the best seafood house I've ever been to. Pros: Excellent everything. Cons: CONtinue to provide the same service. the minute it changes, I'll know. more

capt georges resturant is still around and is it good 2/21/2008

HELLO ALL I USED TO LIVE IN VA BEACH BACK IN 1987 AND WENT TO CAPT GEORGES ALMOST ALL THE TIME I REMEMBER THE WHOLE LOBSTER AND ALASKA KING CRAB LEGS AND RAW OYSTER BAR AND SALAD BAR, I HAVENT BEEN TO VA BEACH SINCE I MOVED TO BALTIMORE MARYLAND AND WAS THINKING ABOUT COMMING DOWN THIS SUMMER IN JUNE . I WAS WONDERING CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF CAPT GEORGES IS STILL GOOD TO EAT AT .IVE BEEN TO THE ONE IN PONGO WHICH I HEARD CLOSED THE DOORS THERE. AND I KNOW THERE WAS ONE ON FIRST COLONEL RD AND LASKIN RD AND IF I REMEMBER I THINK ONE ON LASKIN RD OR VA BEACH BLVD AT THE CORNER NEAR A RED LIGHT . more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY 1/5/2008

Nothing on the buffet was good! Our first time at the VA Beach Captain Georges very low quaility food, crab legs are very small, soft and appeared to be old, steamed shrimp, scallops, oyster and fried shrimp all over cooked and dry. I believe the scallops are fake, side dishes bad. One positive is the fresh baked bread. I really miss the Fishermans Wharf seafood buffet in hampton :( Pros: THUMBS DOWN more

Great service, bad food. 12/23/2007

Picture it: You are sitting at the table, and the server is telling of the marvels awaiting you with the food. "There are over 70 items on the buffet - ranging from the mouth watering Crab Imperial to the suculent Prime Rib, and, if you are willing to treat yourself, the dessert is made from scratch from our award winning pastry staff."\r \r Have I got your mouth watering with anticipation yet?\r \r Reality: The shrimp was mushy, chicken still had gross amounts of red on the inside (undercooked), the autmn breeze tasted as if the bartender through some random liquids together, and the prime rib started to moo when I picked a piece up. \r \r Quite possibly the only saving grace for the restaurant was the server - Brian (I have a soft spot for that name). Aside from being very well kept and articulate, he had a genuine concern for our dinning experinece when I voiced my concern. I tipped him according to the level of service he gave. \r \r In all, this is not what I expect when I shell out almos more

GREAT FOOD !!!!!! 12/8/2007

This has to be one of the BEST buffet's without going to a five star restaurant. Atmosphere was great for a buffet, but as always a tiny bit noisy and definitely crowded. Recommendations:Go there spend the money and enjoy the food more

After 10 years... 11/24/2007

I came back to the place everyone used to rave about as one of the best Seafood places to go in the Mi-Atlantic, and to my surprise, the ownership/management have sacrificied quality. Pros: Crab Legs Cons: Everything Else more

Better Seafood at Long John Silvers 11/15/2007

It has been a few years since we visited Captain Georges. This restaurant is nothing like it once was. The fried seafood seemed to come from a bag (not hand breaded) and the oysters were terrible. I do honestly prefer the fried seafood at Long John Silvers over the offering this evening at Capt.Geo. Buffet. The only item that we found above par were the steamed shrimp. I was truely sorry to see that this once excellent restaurant has drifted the way of many(cutting quality for proffit which is not necessarily there fault) .If the previous quality of buffet was offered we would have been more than happy to pay more. I must say that the service was attentive and freindly. Save your money and go elsewere when splurging for a good seafood dinner. Pros: No lines -dined on Thursday night Cons: Poor fried seafood more
