So not worth it! 7/29/2010

Went here for lunch buffet. The selection is very limited - green salad, chicken cacciatore, beef, bowtie with marinara, fusilli with broccoli, corn (?) and mashed potato (?) Both meat dishes were very salty. Bottled marinara tastes better than the bowtie sauce. Cut-up bread was stale. And no dessert table. Pros: Ambience Cons: Salty food, limited selection for buffet more

Great food and Wonderful Service 5/13/2010

All I can say is this little place is out of this world. I was in town on business and we were told by the staff at the Residence Inn in Oak Brook this was the place to grab Italian, the must go to joint in the area?they were not lying as this place was one of the best, no, it is the best Italian I have had in years. My business partner and I went in on a Tuesday night and I ordered the Lasagna and was impressed by the dish, more then I could eat, but I forced down every bit as there was no way I would ever leave anything that good on a plate. The salad dressing was out of this world and the bread was wonderful. The meal was so good we went back the next night, I had the 5 fingers and Vodka sauce?let me say that ? WOW!!!! and I am planning on taking my wife there next month?willing to make a 3 hour drive for this food! Keep up the great work, the staff is great and those knocking the place, I am not sure you made it into the right place?both times I had a dinner, with dessert and with tip was under $40.00 bucks?the food is WONDERFUL! On con to the place is I don?t live closer ? Pros: Food, Staff Cons: ummm not closer to where I live :) more

Best Italian in the Burbs 5/12/2010

I love this restaurant! My Husband and I come here often for drinks and to enjoy some live music and dancing. We recently had dinner and was blown away. The portions are huge, which isn't great for the waist line, but the after dinner dancing helped work it off. Love Love Love Capri! Pros: Live Music, Homemade Pasta.. Cons: No Cons.. Seriously! more

It was only okay 3/21/2010

We ate at Capri for the first time last night. When I walked in (my husband was parking the car), no one was standing at the maitre d' stand. I stood there for several minutes while two bartenders just stared at me and never bothered to get anyone to take care of me. FInally a bus boy came by and asked if I had been taken care, to which I replied no. He got the Maitre d' to take care of me. By this point, my husband had already come in as well. We sat down at our table and, without exaggerating, waited just shy of 10 minutes before any server came to our table. I was very aggravated by this. When our server (Nick) finally arrived, he said to me, ""Can I get ya kickin' with something to drink?"" What kind of a server talks like that??? In all actuality, he was a very nice young man and very personable, but he needs to work on some etiquette. He talked with MANY of his customers all evening - so much so that we waited a very long time to get our check from him and get it back to sign the credit card slip. He was a social butterfly all evening! I like a personable server, but not someone who is constantly talking to the point where we can't get service. As far as cuisine, I ordered the 8-finger cavatelli with vodka sauce. It was excellent. I used to make this homemade as a child with my mom and grandmother, so I'm always willing to try it in restaurants to see how it compares to the homemade stuff. I was not disappointed. My husband ordered lasagna. I had a small taste and thought it was terrible. I didn't like the tomato sauce and the meat tasted like cheap hamburger meat. I ordered a glass of house wine and it was $8.00 per glass. I thought that was terribly expensive. House wines are supposed to be LESS expensive. I was unimpressed with the wine list. Everything was by the bottle except for the very limited house wine selection. I asked to see an ""after dinner liqueur"" list and was told by our server that they didn't have one. I'm a full-blooded Italian...we like our liqueurs. If this is a ""classic Italian restaurant,"" there should definitely be a liqueur menu. The final straw was when I went to the bathroom. I went into the first stall and noticed that someone had actually vomited in there and it had not been cleaned up. In all fairness, I don't know if anyone knew about this because I didn't see one female employee in the entire place. However, this is supposed to be a nice restaurant - not a college bar. That's where I would expect to see vomit in a bathroom. So, I told our server and he was very nice and apologetic. I explained to him that I was not blaming anyone, but I felt I needed to bring it to someone's attention in order to get it cleaned up. I have no idea if it was taken care of because Nick proceeded to talk to his other customers at other tables. All in all, I was not impressed with Capri Classic Italian Restaurant and will not go back again. Pros: Good pasta Cons: Bad service more

Disappointed 3/14/2010

I was very disappointed when I finished my $80 dinner and was told that my dinningdough certificate was not valid as the management was changed and was not accepting those. They brought some printout stating that they do not accept it, which is not posted when you come in. The food was not good enough for me to come back to that place. Pros: Decent food, ok service Cons: Poor management more

From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcome. The atmosphere is warm and is only surpassed by the freindly staff. Pros: Great atmophere Cons: Only drawback is sooner or later you have to leave. more

There is Italian and there is REAL Italian! 10/9/2009

Food is like music, it touches your memory buttons! When you hear a song from when times were easier, they mean so much to make you feel great inside! Pros: Just like Grandma used to make! Cons: I don't get to go there as much as I would like! more

Mangia! Mangia!! 9/24/2009

It doesn't matter how often you go to the Capri, it doesn't matter what you order or how much you spend, you are greeted and treated like one of the Rovito or Grande families. Johnny has a special place in my heart for we never went to any of his wonderful restaurants without his hugs hello, coming to the table to let us know what was ""special"" or what he could do that wasn't on the menu to make our dinners memorable. Pros: Everything---food, atmosphere, service, entertainment, etc. more

Entertainment excellent, great price for my meals, friendly staff in a pleasant and also family environment. No complaints at all, go check Capri out, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Consistent service and delicious Food more

Outstanding Food and Service 8/24/2009

My wife and I were on our way home and were running late so we wanted to just stop somewhere nice to get something to eat. When we walked in the aroma was heavenly. We were greeted with smiles and shown to a table immediately. Our waitor was courteous and .helpful. We never were in want of anything. The food was out of this world. By far the best Italian food my wife and I have ever had. Very reasonably priced and generous portions Pros: Best Italian food around. Cons: We wish it was closer to our home. more

Excellent food and service! 8/10/2009

The first time we dined at Capri we ordered a appetizer special that was out of this world! When we came back on another visit, the special was no longer on the menu, but the chef made our ""special request"" and it was outstanding. The staff is wonderful and owners Mary Jo and John both go out of their way to greet the customers and make sure that your dining experience will be one that makes you come back for more. Pros: Best drink prices I've seen in a long time! more

Hello Mr. Terrible 7/23/2009

I must disagree with you on this horrific comment. We pride ourselves on our Cuisine and our service. If you were so dissatisfied with your meal why did you not say something at that time? Your right we are not Gibsons, we are not a steak house....we specialize in Southern Italian Cuisine and Seafood. I challenge you to go anywhere else in the Oakbrook area and see how much the cocktails are, you will find we are very fairly priced and give a very generous pour. It is amazing that people tell us everyday that they have eaten all over the world and our food is outstanding, some of the best that they have ever eaten. more

Terrible 7/10/2009

$44 for lunch, I had 2 drinks (bar vodka) angel hair pasta with meat sauce and a meat ball with 20% tip it was $44 dollars. What a ripeoff and the meat sauce was terrible. Imagine $44 dollars for pasta and a couple of drinks, when I walked out of their I know I was rapped. Pros: Nothing Cons: Bad food more

Best Home made Italian 7/9/2009

A large, very attractive dining room with a separated large bar and show stage where the owners of Capri bring in local acts to perform a couple of times a week. I've eaten at the old Capri di Amore in Northlake until they moved operations over to Oakbrook. Much further drive for me but always worth the trip! There's not a bad item on the menu from what I can tell from my many visits. Home made pasta's and sauces are truly the best I have anywhere except a possible exception in Bologna or Florence. The restaurant is both big enough for a quiet romantic dinner with my wife or friendly enough to bring the entire family (which I have done on multiple occasions). For an authentic Italian mean and incredible service (ask for Otto)...Capri cannot be beat anywhere in the Chitown area. Pros: Incredibly consistent food and service Cons: Doesn't deliver to nearby hotels more

Great Value, Great Food 12/15/2008

This is a beautiful restaurant. Because I was dining alone, I ate lunch at the bar. The Bar area is large with several Flatscreen TVs which kept me entertained while eating my lunch. Or.. should I say enjoying my lunch. I ordered the Lasagna, and it was delicious. Made in an individual dish, you could tell that it was homemade and not frozen. Very Flavorful! The salad that came with the Lasagna was very tasty as welll. Great Italian dressing! The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic and at great prices. This is a nice addition to the Oak Brook restaurants. more
